Oklahoma "WTH?" News Item o' the Day:

Arizona convicted killer's last words: 'Boomer Sooner'
---
[Convicted and now executed killer Jeffrey] Landrigan, who acknowledged his home state of Oklahoma in his last words, had been on death row since his 1990 conviction for murdering Chester Dyer of Phoenix in a killing that prosecutors said was part of a robbery.

Totally O/T, but I'm actually more entertained by the "execution drug in short supply."
How does that work, exactly? Arizona gobbled them all up in 2007? Or everyone in Oklahoma is feeding them to their dogs locked in trucks? Or the federal government has lost execution drugs in a locker somewhere?

Oriah continues to lose sanity.

What are the odds??????

Boomer Sooner: (warning- Wiki link)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boomer_Sooner

And I think the drug is in short supply because they have shifted production to Mexico and, well- ya know. Increase of production. Loss of quality control.

"The lyrics in the first verse refer to the Land Run of 1889, in which the land around the modern university [OU] was settled. Boomers were people that entered the territory legally, after the official opening. Sooners settled beforehand, giving them an unfair advantage on finding, fencing, and claiming farm land. If the charge of early entry was proven, they would lose their claimed land."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boomer_Sooner

So "sooners" got there sooner than "boomers." Zzzzzz. Important Okie concept: that of the "unfair advantage." State history in two words!

I always thought the word "boomer" came from the famous college football player. I can't remember his name.

I am in the process of filing a FOIA request for the Jamisons. Every agency has there own form.

Are there any suggestions that might be helpful ?

Sooo.....peeps. Want to help me out here? Any takers on researching finding archived pics *with SAR flags* from the "massive" search that wfgodot pointed out ended a year ago? Anyone, anyone?
I think it would be good to know their coordinates.

(A SAR flag is usually a little flag stuck in the ground that denotes an area searched or evidence found.)
TIA.

MORE Oklahoma State History to Spice Up Your Morning!

Norman is, of course, the home of the University of Oklahoma and the hub of what lowbrow-and-proud-of-it types like to call "the tea sippers," a cultural elite (if OK can be said to have such) thought to control state affairs while meanwhile looking down their noses at the less-fortunates - the "cowpokes" and "aggies," whose nexus is Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.

(n.b. "tea sippers" probably subscribe to Architectural Digest!)

Oriah's advice to little regarding FOIA forms: call specific agency first and speak to a breathing human. Every agency is different, and some can/will release info some will not. Which are you going for?

When you talk to whomever (or write a cover letter, etc.) act like you were at least born in Oklahoma and thus your interest in the case. Seriously - they don't much cater to outsiders around this place.

True dat on the outsiders. Likely the reason why Oklahoma and I have such a contentious relationship.

little, I think what wfgodot is trying to say is that when filling out a FOIA form for, say, the OSBI... it is helpful if you do NOT say you are just a concerned citizen. If you are a concerned citizen from Norman, or are 0.00006% Native American, that seems to help. Although I am not sure why. Because it somewhat defeats the entire purpose of the FOIA. However, it is what it is. :)

Interesting thing to make you last words.

I thought of Star Boomer. Thanks for the wikki too I didnt want to insert to quotes .

I am in the midst of a total freakout which is going to prevent me from 'SLEUTHING' today.

I just got a phone call and my grandmother who resides in Texas will be at my house in virginia @4 pm.

I have tons of stuff to get done.(not tons but I feel stressed so it might as well be) The feeling I have is like the grim reaper is coming to visit. Really.

How do you prepare for the Grim reaper visiting? So that is the theme I will be following in getting my affairs in order. I hope I do not miss any important detail as she is a total perfectionist and I am the abstract rebel blacksheep about to face sacrifice.

Any suggestions for my orders of affair would be much appreciated.

Well, to be honest....ANYTHING JAMISON! I just think we haven't been told everything.

Maybe I'm just grasping at straws here. But, having sat here for over a year now, there just has to be more to the story!

Soul, no worries on sleuthing today. It can wait.

My advice on your order of things. Do not quit smoking, drinking, eating chips, petting dogs, or anything which might be your particular poison at this time.
Also- there is an encouragement thread in the basement which may be of help.
AND... the Grim Reaper will likely be delayed by weather (just check NOAA history!) so you have plenty of time. :)

little- Acquiring info via FOIA is a very good idea. At the very least, it tells us what a particular agency is NOT willing to part with. Or has lost in evidence. ;) KWIM?

Ha! My vices are in place. All I had was 3 shots of wild turkey but it seems to be working slightly. No time for the basement thread . The living room is checked off. On to the kitchen.

I am not a drinker so I am kinda worried about the effects when she gets here . Am I going to smell like wild turkey ? I am laughing now but who will laugh last?

Oriah, this organization was one of the SAR teams used to help search for the Jamisons. The website states they will not put any photos up of their callouts.
