Oriah and JTSYS,

I have a suggestion to generate some interest from other WS'ers.. Add a link to this thread in your signature line... That way when you post in other threads, people will see the links and hopefully at least check out the thread..

t made me look and read allll of the stuff... keep up the good work ..

Hi ya'll! I'm told you're in need of sleuthers on this case. I am familiar with it, but I can't recall a more convoluted case - ever!

Since there are so many twists and turns and possibilities, can someone tell me what the goal is here? I have always hoped that Lauria and Ashley were off living their lives somewhere, but that seems highly unlikely I suppose. So are we hoping to find UID matches?

I'd be happy to help, but the one thing that worries me is the possible LE involvement in the murders. I really wonder, if their remains were ever located, would it even be reported or could they have covered it up?

Hi Fairy1 and thanks for checking in with us here!!
This case is absolutely convoluted...in fact I've kind of given up on trying to actually discern the "who, what, why" and are coming at it from a "where and when" only, so we can locate some remains.
Sorry if that sounds horrible, but I think it's most likely- and also, I'm in SAR and recovery work....so it makes sense for me.

We just came back from a 2nd trip out to OK to ground search some possible dump sites. We've gridded out quite a few more and intend on trying to work our way through them throughout the summer.
I would LOVE some UID help! We honestly don't have enough time in the day to sit at a computer because we're out in the field usually. So any and all help appreciated!
I was concerned at first about possible LE involvement...still am. However, I don't think that even if that is the case, that they're any smarter than the average bear...and I think Lauria and Ashley are out there waiting to be found/identified. Even if it's not a verified ID.
Do you have any advice for us on searching UID's?
TIA.....

Glad to help with the UID searches. Actually, I feel this one may be a bit easier (I hope!) than most, only because it seems quite possible any findings would have yielded two sets of remains. I hope so anyway. What concerns me is that the killer obviously took the girls and who knows where they went and what happened after that? Maybe they weren't killed but trafficked.

There seems to be some question as to whether Jeremy Jones was involved. It's an intriguing possibility to me. I may have missed this and haven't done any research on him yet, but did he have a vehicle that night? IIRC, he had just gotten out of prison. Is it known where he turned up after leaving OK?

One more thought, I realize that UID's in the area have been checked by others here. But it's important to backtrack sometimes as new remains could have been located since the last check. If there's a chance a victim or victims were removed from the immediate area, I usually start where they went missing and fan out from there - state-by-state.

I'll get busy!

Just wanted to add - the number of unsolved murders in OK gives me the willies!

According to Jeremy Jones's girlfriend - they were, I think, living together in some disreputable motel in Miami OK - he did not have access to a vehicle that night as his truck was broken down.

I've found a few possibilities - charting from OK to GA. Two in Adams County, MS and one in TN. BUT there are very few details for all three. Few parts found and no indication of DNA having been submitted.

Do we know if Lauria's and Ashley's DNA is in CODIS?

Fairy1, thanks for looking into this. Sorry we have been slammed, not a lot of time to get on the computer. To my knowledge they are not in CODIS. There is dental and additional DNA on Lauria, not on Ashley. But let me double check that with Oriah....

Thanks for your help, Fairy1!
I do think it's likely that the remains are together- however, on the slight chance that one was killed earlier due to struggle, attitude, personal preference, etc....I think they might also be in two different sites but still relatively close to one another. Ditto on possible trafficking or drug involvement- they would have likely initially headed in the same direction (southwest, imo) but then possibly been separated. So I am not ruling out, say two UIDs within 100 miles of each other.
Just something to think about.
On the other hand, if they're together....I think they're north/northeast.

Thank you, JTSYS! I really think DNA is going to be key here. I don't even want to post the three slight possibilities I found - they'll just be frustrating.

I was so psyched about NamUs getting up and running, but sometimes, just makes me want to SCREAM! I know ME offices all over the country are short-staffed. But I find so much of the time, even IF the UID's are entered, the info is incomplete.

You're right about them possibly NOT being close together. If the killer or killers took them that night, it wasn't for a joyride or a date. There was another motive. Lord only knows what happened after they left.

This is very true. Any thoughts on how we can get more conclusive info entered in there? It may be difficult with the LE situation being what it is in the area (they still have evidence withheld!) but I'm willing to give it a shot.
Thanks again!

Prayers for Lauria and Ashley and all you wonderful sleuthers on your journey to find them! :prayer:

Fairy1 you are so sweet and amazing! :blowkiss:

So if Jeremy Jones was the kidnapper/murderer than Lauria and Ashley were probably the main targets... not the parents. Perhaps he spotted them earlier while they were at dinner? Maybe he was watching the trailer and waited for the boyfriend to leave and the lights to go out. ???? all speculation and conjecture I know. There are so many possibilities.

Yes, I agree. And then they are probably right about where wfgodot thinks, or within about 20 miles- north/northeast. Does anyone have his timeline (the first confession- those couple hours before arrest) handy?

For some reason, the discrepancy re: dinner has always caught my interest. I wonder if it's on the initial LE report.

BBM

Mine too!

Good thinking - maybe the killer did follow them home from where they had dinner, so this would be an important detail. Maybe he followed them in from elsewhere in town, waited for everyone to go to sleep and then struck.

How far from wherever they had dinner was the trailer? Would the killer/kidnapper have had to follow them for a while?

Did LE check for tire tracks? Oh jeez.

Sorry - I haven't had much time to check the UID's in the last week. I'll try to get back on track in the next day or so. I have to be able to focus and my job has made that difficult of late!

Seems ya'll are thinking north/northeast. May I ask why?

Actually, I think it's the ME's offices that are so strapped. Honestly, they have years and years worth of info to enter and still have to do their day-to-day jobs. I sent a possible match into one ME probably 3 months ago and while he did respond once, it took forever and was only to let me know he would take a look. Has not responded to subsequent inquiries and don't know if anything is being done.

I have others that I turned in years ago to LE's and ME's that have gone nowhere. :(

This is why I have taken a break from UID's for a while - it's toooooooo frustrating. Coming from this environment, where we care so much, to sometimes dealing with people who just don't care or don't have time to care, is a challenge and makes you go :banghead::banghead::banghead:!

I totally understand....especially the frustrating aspect!! I'm wondering if maybe we might have more luck on the ground with turning in UIDs? But then we get held up trying to figure out who to report to, lol, and the time crunch... But maybe if we had the UID's lined up and could sort of rule out ahead of time- we could narrow things down and then actually enter remains by dealing with the ME (or whoever, given the territory) right then and there? Wow that probably doesn't make any sense- but I am trying to think of a better way to expedite remains matching w/UID's while on the ground. Does that make any sense??
Anyway- thank you Fairy1 for your help!

I think it may be worthwhile for ME's to ask for volunteers in their communities for help with data entry. Just to get the info into NamUs. It's finally a central database, which is so desperately needed to get more of these cases closed. But if the information isn't there or isn't accurate, it's worthless.

They could contact the colleges and universities in their areas and offer internships to kids who are majoring in forensic studies or criminology. That would be beneficial to all!

I'm still looking for possible matches, but it's slow going....

But I'm not the boss of anybody.
