Could be, of course. Still, it's hard to live in an area of abandoned mineshafts, lakes, creeks,
and strip pits and think that she might have driven two hundred miles to a city and dumped there.

Has Lorene been in touch with anyone on this forum? I know she will never give up, I wouldn't either.

TONIGHT!

Missing Oklahoma girls’ case to be on TV again

The case of two Craig County teenagers missing for more than a decade will be profiled on a new television series.

“Vanished with Beth Holloway” will report the story of Lauria Bible and Ashley Freeman at 9 p.m. Monday on Lifetime, Cox channel 36. The show profiles families searching for missing relatives.
I missed this, but would really like to see it.

Looking, but can't find it. It's been taken down on the Lifetime
"Vanished: with Beth Holloway" site and doesn't seem to be on YouTube.

Bumping... This case has always been on my mind. I now live about 80 miles from where this took place. I saw the case on Unsolved Mysteries, and on Vanished with Beth Holloway (Anyone know what happened to that show?). After spending hours researching over a few years, I have come to two possible scenarios:

- Drug related through the Freeman father. For some reason, I really think Jeremy Jones had something to do with it. He admitted to the crime, and told details that were not released to the public. Also, the father was a small-time druggie.

- Possibly law enforcement involvement. I just can't shake that feeling. I know its WS's policy to not defame LE. The Freeman family had a grudge and lawsuit against them, after an officer shot Shane (the brother to Ashley). That and the mysterious death of the nurse, DeAnna Dorsey, who helped Shane the night he was shot. She attended a taping of a TV show profiling the case in California, and shortly after she returned, she was shot at a hospital. It could be a coincidence. OSBI was brought in to investigate the fire at the trailer, but I take them with a grain of salt... They don't exactly have the best track record. They walked over Danny's body in their investigation of the burned down trailer. LE corruption isn't uncommon in Oklahoma... Tulsa recently had a big deal about it, and I believe several were sent to prison.

In the end, I believe it was drug related, with or without LE.

Does anyone have any updates on this case? I would love to have these girls found, especially for the Bible family.

P.S. This is my 1st post on WS. I've been a long time reader.

Welcome to WS, M86!

Helping to try and locate Lauria and Ashley remains close on our radar, that's for sure.

I too think that drugs were involved in their disappearance. But I think the abduction of the girls was a spontaneous crime of opportunity.
I do not think the girls were involved in the murders or arson- and 'missing' Danny's body and not securing the crime scene is just...well, no words for that.

Add to that, UID's are unfortunately pretty common in OK (and many other places.) :(

That area of OK is very rural, and the terrain is pretty tough. Grid searches take a lot of time- but still worthwhile, imo. Ashley and Lauria are out there somewhere.

snip-snip

I've been trying to find words for that for almost 12 years now, mouth still open and jaw still on the floor.

I think there's a phrase for it, wfgodot.
Credo quia absurdum est.

Wait, is that right? My Latin is rusty.

Oklahoma absurdum est.

Yours is right. The above is about as fancy as my forgotten 9th grade Latin allows me to be.

That sounds about right. And hey- I made it all the way through 12th grade Latin!! Can you believe it? (Gotta love Catholic school.)

I still can't get away from the fact that I do not think they are very far from Welch. Continue to plug away, I guess?
*sigh*
Will search namus again.

It's just that there are so many great places to dispose of bodies around here: lakes, rivers, and streams (not unique to this area, I know) but also mine shafts and strip mines. And bodies can be buried anywhere - certainly is a rural area, this one.

They're somewhere in the rural Welch-Baxter Springs KS-Afton triangle would be my best guess.

BBM:
I tend to very much agree, wfgodot. And I don't think there was a lot of effort made in disposal. I truly hate to say that, but I don't think anyone went to the trouble of digging. :(

Which on one hand is a positive thing- aged remains on surface, or in a natural environment. On the other hand, oh man...the terrain is challenging to say the least, to search.

But I do think that's where they are- although I don't think they are together- just close. :(

I just reread the case , Or read in more depth the I had done in the past. I haved started digging into anything yet but wanted to put my impressions on the thread before I bacame wrapped up in researching which happens as I find co winkys.

Like the psychics last name being the same last name Sherilyn Jamison once had. Anyways

I found it very ironic that a fire would be used to cover up evidence in this case ,due to the home not having any running water. How long had it not had water? I am of the opinion whoever lit the fire knew there would be no way to put it out once it started.

I also found it odd about the 4am flames. I saw a whole house burn to the ground. It took about fifteen minutes 2 floors and all that was left was the basement and half a couch .I also remember a report of a trailer going completely up in 7.
I dont think this fire happened anywhere near 12a, and if the reports are correct it was probably minutes before the passerby reported it.

The money from the freezer, the girls being missing ,the arrowheads and the arson leads me to believe whoever commited this crime ,knew the family and spent a few hours in the home that night. They would have had blood splatter on them and smelled like whatever the used to light the fire and more likey then not they would have also smelled like burnt wood do to being in the home that was heated by the woodstove.

They would have had to have somewhere to clean up and hide the girls and that isnt something most people can suddenly resolve. Pre planned by someone they knew IMO.

Soul, I don't think you have to catch up much. You've pretty much got it down imo.

I don't believe they ever had running water at that location.

And yeah- how do you like the psychic? Small world, huh?

Soul, like Oriah said, the location never had running water. I found it odd too, having growing up in a rural area of the Dakotas. I've never heard of people being without water. But our area had a rural water organization that provided it... Which was excellent!

Did we confirm that the money from the freezer is missing? I can't remember that aspect. I take any law enforcement in OK with a grain of salt. That's all I'll say. :)

Is anyone on here in contact with the mother of Lauria? She might be able to help us!

I'm in contact with family.
They are still hurting, looking, and hoping for the girls. :(

The money missing from the freezer is unconfirmed.
The purse by the door, confirmed. To the best of my knowledge anyway.

Good to hear that you're still in contact... I just can't imagine what they're going through. I can't remember if I mentioned this previously, but Lauria's dad reminds me so much of my dad... After seeing their cases on Vanished with Beth Holloway and Unsolved Mysteries. It's almost like they could be brothers... Just based on how Mr. Bible talked and acted. It made me even more connected to this sad case.

Do you know if Lauria's mom is interested in joining WS? Also, Oriah, do you know if any large-scale searches are being planned in the future? I saw in the past that you got the ball rolling. If any type of search is planned, please let me know... I'd love to help.

For some reason, I have a feeling that the killing of the nurse, DeAnna Dorsey, has something to do with all of this. This is rural, northeastern Oklahoma. A random shooting like that, with her connections to everything, just seems really, really odd... Especially since it happened right after she got back from taping in California. Sorry if this has been repeated, but something about the nurse shooting really makes me wonder.
And that, again, leads me to LE. The former mental patient of the hospital shoots her to death, after the taping, and the police show up and shoot him to death. Something just doesn't fit there.
But, it's obvious Jeremy Jones knows something. This would be a lot easier if I wasn't questioning LE involvement.

  • #359
I dont know If Jemery Jones knows anything or not. He really could have been handed information by LE ,accidently or on purpose. But maybe he does know something. He would have heard second hand, but he was locked up at 400am and the blaze had just been set (according to the witness description of the fire the reportedly saw. Maybe he did hear something about it the very jail he was in that night. He didnt get out for a while correct?

I cannot remember his brothers name ,(lost it ) but I remember there being a co winky with it....Maybe all he ever was ,was the decoy?

The fire was reported at 6:00 AM by a motorist. I can't remember Jeremy Jones' release and lock-up times exactly, and can't find them. I know it was stated on the Vanished with Beth Holloway episode that aired... The agent for OSBI stated that it would've been hard for Jones to start the fire, commit the murders, and hide the bodies. One theory is that it was a group of people, and he was kicked out of the vehicle after he "freaked out" from the drugs. Just a theory though.

However, it's very possible he just knew of what happened and used that to gain privileges in prison. I don't believe he was given that information on purpose. He was interviewed by OSBI. OSBI doesn't have the best record, but I doubt there would be that level of corruption... but I take it all with a grain of salt.

Another thing that baffles me (and I'm sure this info has been mentioned): Why, oh why, did OSBI wait until November 2010 to release the information about the possible vehicle in the area during when it happened? That's 11 years. I just don't get it... And this was provided very early on in the investigation.

The vehicle was a small, dark colored sedan heading east towards Welch. I'm assuming along Oklahoma Highway 10. The crime scene was west of Welch.
Somewhat recently, someone said that another vehicle in the area during that time was a dark colored heavy-duty pickup truck that was heading north on US Highway 59 out of Welch, towards the Kansas state line.

So many things in this case that make me angry... and so many questions.
