I won't be able to watch that program, but I'll definitely check back here to see if anything new is presented. I remember the first time I ever heard of this case - I was a teenager myself, watching Unsolved Mysteries with my mother. I was greatly intrigued, and have sporadically Googled the girls' names over the years to see if anything progressed. So sad to think of all the things I've done throughout all those years, and poor Ashley and Lauria likely have not.

Very excited to see how they will portray this case...with all the stuff out there on this, it seems things get jumbled and skewed, and I'm hoping this will organize some thoughts.

I believe they are also doing Jodi Huisentruit, a missing TV news anchorwoman from Iowa, who was abducted in 1995 on Jan 28. Very interesting cases this season.

I wonder about Tommy Sellers confession, which was determined false. Didn't he confess to another murder,of a little boy, and that freed the boy's mother? I wonder how they knew that confession was not false too, I can't remember. Several serial killers have claimed other murders, for whatever reason.

The other one, Jones, says he put them into a mineshaft in Kansas. He apparently had some knowledge that was not released. As far as the mines, they find hundreds in the area he pointed out and they find nothing. Then of course, he takes back his confession. And his arrest at 4am on the morning of the crimes for some other offense doesn't seem to leave enough time for what he said he had done.

I don't know the case as others do, but as far as I can tell, there was nothing new revealed on the show.

I don't think anything new was revealed. I saw it. It sure made me lean towards the Jeremy Jones did it camp. I can understand how the girls bodies might be lost in those mineshafts.

Glad as I am to hear about something potentially coming up from the broadcast, I do also have to wonder why TWO people waited so many years to come forward. Did they want to all along and were afraid to do so? Or, I hate to suggest it, perhaps they are just opportunists; I'm sure that any such broadcast must generate its fair share. But then again, I'm sure the authorities would carefully screen any callers or tips prior to publicly announcing they had something new.

Skeletal remain of two found due to receding lake waters (drought) ... This lake is closer to where the Jamison family from Oklahoma went missing...but it could be the two girls.

http://www.newson6.com/story/20643062/skeletal-remains-of-2-found-at-lake-eufaula

Praying for closure for the families of these girls.

The story at the link has been updated & reads:

Two skeletons discovered at Lake Eufaula are "ancient" human remains, according to investigators.
The Oklahoma State Medical Examiners office says the remains could be anywhere from 200 to 2,000 years old, or even beyond.

Even though I have followed and posted on the Jamisons' disappearance, the first thing I did when I read about the two bodies was to google the distance between Lake Eufaula and Welch (141 miles, which I basically knew anyway), just in case, just in case - just in case it might possibly prove to be a likely scenario. (Way too far though.)

New to the case, and I too lean toward Jeremy Jones as the perpetrator after watching Disappeared. I don't think the girls are in Kansas though. Lean more toward their remains still being in Kansas.

just watched the disappeared episode...my heart is breaking for Lauria's dad :(

Hi, Bootsctr! :seeya: Thanks for posting your thoughts! I recognize you from Elizabeth and Lyric's threads and I like your posts there as well. :)

just watched the disappeared episode...my heart is breaking for Lauria's dad :(

Same here! When he tears up throughout the episode . . . oh man! So heartbreaking.

This is O/T but I wanted to tell you how much I like your Matthew Gray Gubler avatar as well! :p

One thing I think it's pretty safe to assume is that the girls' bodies wound up in a mine shaft, there are so many of them around here. Jeremy Jones grew up in this area and I've wondered why he would need to cross a state line - though it's not far away - to find a site to bury them. The answer, of course, is that he didn't, and he's lying - about that anyway, and probably about it all as the timeline stretches a bit too taut for him to be the sole culprit. Just doesn't work really. Was he involved? Could be. But not alone. One can guess successfully at what accelerant might have been used, or one could rely on hearsay.

I remember this case from the day it happened, and, while one's thoughts evolve about what did occur, that doesn't necessarily mean one gets closer to the truth. For example, now I think the girls probably were held for a time before they were killed. But I have nothing to base that on other than the rumors the ID Discovery show covered. Sometimes here in town I'll see some mean-looking sorts who were around back then and wonder, do they know? Somebody does. Several somebodies. But, barring a spectacular revelation or a death bed confession, this one will, sadly, probably stay unsolved. Hope I'm wrong.

The Bibles are very good people. One would hope goodness might be rewarded with answers to their prayers.

This is an excellent (and very thought provoking!) post IMO, wfgodot.

Oh, btw - over the years some people have brought up that a couple elements I mentioned above might be thought to be exceedingly clever ways to muddy the waters and escape arrest: crossing that state line, for example, means different law enforcement agencies would be involved (Delaware Co. OK and Cherokee Co. KS; OSBI and KBI), which would make coordinating the investigation more difficult.

As well, JJ's having got himself arrested the day the crime was discovered - a factor which stretched that timeline taut - can be seen as creating a perfect cover: "He couldn't have done it! he was in jail at the time!" And that's also a good point to consider. (I'll also add I have known a couple of people who went to school with him somewhere during the K-12 years, and who both said he was pretty sharp when he wanted to be.)

That's one of the things that's kept me waffling on the fence about JJ. The timeline being so tight. Thank you for bringing up about him wanting to be sharp when it benefited him.
