The local news videos show
official vehicles going through a ranch gate on the
NORTH side of Oswalt & Long Hollow Road."
They were probably using Battle Springs 'Ranch' as
a form up & briefing area, rather than seaching there.
BSR Tactical does law enforcement firearms training
there.
I think you had it about right as to
where the car Miller
& Haynes were in crashed.
What happened to Colt Haynes is understandable, his
falling out of the tree resulted in him
having a bone
projecting out of his leg, an injury (probably coupled
with some dehydration) which if not treated would be
life threatening. He didn't get treatment and he died.
Why Molly Miller died is more difficult to understand.
The distance from the main creek in the center of the
valley to Pike Rd is less than 1.5km, maybe 1.5km if
you measure from one of the ajoining smaller feeder
creeks some 100 to 200 feet on the east side of the
main creek. Even dehydrated, after the sun came up,
I would think she should have been able to walk that
distance or say some 2km if she walked at a diagonal
to the creek.
She probably was exhausted and dehydrated from
supporting injured Colt as they travelled along and
then eventually they stopped in a creek bed. The daily
temperature in their 'after midnight to 10AM' timeframe
doesn't seem excessive. She may have walked some
ways away from Colt eventually (possibly he had died),
after the sun came up or hours after it came up. She
tried at 09:33AM to phone a friend to come and
find her,
but she may not have communicated the seriousness
of her situation to the friend, who did not come. Why
might she at that time be possibly speaking listlessly
on the phone to that friend?
For completeness, I should mention that there are
feral pigs about that area of Oklahoma - if a large hog
charged a person it could bowl them over and break
one or both legs... however, I don't think that her death
was the result of any such violent circumstance, either
by human or an animal. I think that she was probably
quite depressed (especially if Colt had died) and gave
in to her thrist and drank from either some possible
standing water pool in that creek bed or possibly from a
pond's water if she walked some ways away from Colt.
The feral hogs in the area probably utilize some ponds
as watering and wallowing places, dropping fecal
matter into the watershed. If she drank from the
suggested water places, she may have become sick
and started vomiting and such, thereby eventually
becoming dehydrated again except now possibly
additionally with a load of
toxic bacteria and/or algae
in her system.
The ponds in that area between Pike Rd and Long
Hollow Rd have some noticeable variations in their
coloration, (and if you zoom in even in 2026) some
of them have seeming lines in them, possibly the
tracks of large animals. Here is an example I saved
from Google Maps back in circa 2021 (the valley
main creek is seen running vertically in the picture):
Same area from HistoricAerials in 2013 showing the
many small ponds:
