On Tuesday, an Oklahoma judge approved a motion to waive the preliminary hearing for Cora Twombly. Twombly also waived her right to a speedy trial.

Cora Twombly and Paul Grice have their next court date on February 19. The three other defendants, Tifany Adams, Tad Cullum, Cole Twombly have a preliminary hearing Dec. 17.

2nd defendant in Texas County double murder case waives preliminary hearing

A second defendant in two Texas County, Oklahoma murder cases has passed on a preliminary hearing and waived their right to a speedy trial.

Court documents from Tuesday show Cora Twombly will wait in jail until a February hearing because the judge denied bail.

Preliminary hearings for Cullum, Adams and Cole Twombly will be held on Dec. 17 at 9 a.m.

Twombly submitted her waiver on Tuesday, while Grice submitted his waiver back on September 18.

Prior to waiving her hearing, Cora Twombly along with her husband Cole Twombly, Tifany Adams, and Tad Cullum were originally scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday. However, the four of them submitted a joint order to strike the hearing, pushing the court date back to November 20.

A search warrant revealed the women’s bodies were found inside a chest freezer during a two-day excavation of the burial site nearly nine miles from Butler’s abandoned car.

Search warrant records also reveal what is believed to be blood found on duct tape, a sheath, a black knife, a ball cap and cloth gloves. In addition, documents allege one of the suspects asked whether DNA could survive in churned dirt in a 15-foot-deep hole.

1. Did the "documents" say a "suspect asked" with no indication of WHO was asked or HOW suspect asked, and reporter at ksal.com or Metrosource merely repeated?
If so, a curiously incurious reporter? One working under tight deadline w no chance to update? Accepting a bit of info leaked for promise of unnamed source? Or ___?

OR

Did the documents state (approx'ly) -
2.- Suspect's model 123 laptop was seized by LE on (date). Its history revealed that on (date preceding the deaths) a (Google) search for "Can DNA survive in churned dirt in a 15-foot-deep hole?" was entered.
Or

The 2014 news item referred to a civil suit he and another atty filed, totally unrelated to this case.**
The OK Bar Assn*** lists "David Chad Pate as a member in good standing w
"Admit Date: 09/28/2004 and w a Norman OK addy."*** NOT an exact name match.

Norman, OK to Guymon, OK: driving distance ~ 280 mi, 4hr:30min drive time.

Per linked pdf for warrant, Pate said Grice came to his HOUSE & asked Q's.

Not sure what, if anything, to make of this.

Yes, PG asking an atty about DNA makes sense.
Asking about running away to Mexico? Maybe not so odd, as some attys' practices include immigration issues.

Warrant states (a ¶ clipped in post 904 just above. Thx @PommyMommy.) Chad Pate told LE that Grice asked if "the source knew how to get a guy and his family into Mexico."

Did Grice want info about LAWFUL US - Mex. border crossing, which he could have gotten w a quick online search.* Doubtful imo.
Or just looking for expedited passport issuance? Imo, likely more than that.

Warrant phrasing suggests an entry to Mex. at a location other than an official checkpoint.
Or a clandestine, covert entry, perhaps w counterfeit ID's & passports obtained w forged documents issued under false names . : O Cloak & dagger? IDK.

Re other Pates noted in OP? Could have a connection, but IDK.

These 5 who once seemingly appeared to be solid citizens behaved like a pack of wild animals. How do people degenerate to something like this? A young person who has never had the first chance at being taught how to behave I can have some sympathy for, but not these middle-aged brutal people. It's not as though there's any chance for rehabilitation. Wild dogs would be put down. In my opinion, the five murderers should be too.

Just when I think it can't get worse, it gets worse. As much as I DON'T want to hear the names of the 5 evils who perpetrated this crime........it would be nice to hear that they've violated jail rules. It's almost frightening at how quiet they have been since their arrest.

Yes, and yes. The ever-increasing layers of horror here seem endless. Haunting, devastating.

I believe - and someone please correct me if I have it wrong - that the big kahuna herself, Tifany Adams, was not present during the slaughtering of Veronica and Jilian. I think she was with her grandkids, appearing only "remotely," so to speak, by phone.

If I'm right about that, then IMO the following detail makes this savagery even worse, by order of magnitudes. Neither of the victims may have recognized their assailants.

In other words, out of the blue, perfect strangers are killing you.

Mid-morning on a Saturday, just driving along to pick up the kids, the women are ambushed and diverted to a desolate roadway. Within a matter of minutes, they are violently pulled from the car and stabbed repeatedly until, whether still breathing or not, they are shoved together into a chest freezer that is hauled to a dumping site and buried 15 feet deep.

I can imagine that, within seconds, it might have become clear to Veronica what was happening and exactly who was behind it, but what I can't imagine is the level of psychological torture visited upon her by realizing that Jilian would also die and that both of them were being murdered at that very moment by people unknown to them because one vile, jealous, narcissistic human being commanded it.

I hope shock prevented any such final-moments epiphanies, but I have my doubts because this woman had been a mortal threat to Veronica for so long.

For me, time doesn't seem to diminish the atrocities of this crime.

I believe Tifany was present (I can't think she wouldn't want to watch the slaughter). Veronica would likely have known Tad, as he was her former mother-in-law's boyfriend. Might have known the Twombleys, too, since they seem to be friends with Tifany.
