Oh my! There's absolutely nothing around for miles and miles and miles.....

Here is the link to the screenshot on Google maps. Photo below. 36°57'05.2"N 101°54'08.6"W · Yarbrough Public Schools, OK
I've read two different locations: One mile south of Yorbrough Schools (which is about where this pin is); and the other is "near Hwy 95 and Rd L" (which is several more miles south, at a correction line jog in the road.)

The entire trip from Hugoton, Kansas to Eva OK is about 48 minutes. The car was found a few minutes drive from Eva, their destination. All locations very close together - at first, I thought we were dealing with hours of travel. Not so.

I wonder if perhaps this was the designated meeting place, despite it being such a middle of nowhere location.

It’s just weird, because a ruse is tough to pull off, and there are easier ways of carrying this out.
Sometimes when parents live far apart or in rural areas, they will designate a mile marker or other unique feature along a specific road as the meeting place for parenting time exchanges. Wonder if that was the arrangement for this (apparently) Easter holiday exchange.

Most likely the event exchange would have been at a specific town. People wouldn't designate a mile marker or anything in the middle of nowhere. It would have most likely been an agreed upon restaurant.

Have you seen how far outside of the designated meeting town they were?

Has it been mentioned what town they were headed to? If they were going to a location to pick up kids the kids had to have been somewhere.

Are they thinking the vehicle broke down on the way there? The chances they were attacked by someone and driven off the road would be incredibly slim as the attackers would have no control over who witnessed the event.

It's possible though they were approached by some people when they stopped somewhere though.

If the problem was car trouble, even if they had a cell, cell may not have afforded service. So, what would they do? Walk? Weather could have complicated walking. Take a ride, if offered? Frightening outcome either way.

Anyone know if FBi will get involved since the two women crossed a state line?

Ok just saw they were headed to Eva, Oklahoma. Which isn't too far from where the car was found abandoned

State lines wouldn’t matter because this likely occurred in one particular state (Oklahoma). They may request the FBI’s assistance though.

Probably no service.

The car was found abandoned in Texas County Oklahoma? There is a town in that county called Guymon that has 12,000 people in it. So it wasn't completely in the middle of nowhere.

GUYMON, Oklahoma (KVII) — A mother and a preacher's wife were picking up young kids for a birthday party when they vanished, according to a source.

27-year-old Veronica Butler and 39-year-old Jillian Kelley were reported missing Saturday.

A person close to Butler, who asked to remain anonymous, told ABC 7 that Butler was supposed to pick up her 6-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son in Eva, Oklahoma to celebrate her daughter's birthday.

Kelley, who is the wife of a preacher, traveled with her from Elkhart, Kansas.

But the 16 mile trip ended three miles short.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, their car was found abandoned near Highway 95 and Road L, about three miles north of Eva.

Unexpected and puzzling story. Two thoughts, entirely MOO:
- Absolutely no water anywhere close, yes/no?
- Any publicly available info around the circumstances of visitation here?
