Found Deceased Olivia 5, Evelyn 8 & Paityn Decker 9, Endangered Alert, visitation w/ homeless dad Travis Decker 32, wh 2017 GMC Sierra PU, Wenatchee, 30 May 2025

Whitney Decker, her family and her ex-husband’s family are all cooperating with the investigation but have requested privacy. She agreed to allow Cozart to speak on her behalf.

Cozart said Travis Decker, who was diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder and a borderline personality disorder after leaving active service, has been struggling with deteriorating mental health.

Cozart said Travis Decker had been desperately seeking mental health services from Veterans Affairs and a veterans crisis line but was ultimately left to struggle in isolation.

“When you have a vet who is suffering from complex PTSD and other mental health issues, they do not have the mental bandwidth” to schedule needed exams and evaluations, she said. “This was a tragedy that could’ve been completely avoided with proper funding of mental health services for veterans.
“Whitney believes, as I do, that something broke inside of him,” Cozart said. “Travis would not have done what he did if he was himself. He clearly had some sort of break and everything that he had been living with, everything that had been bottled up inside of him for so long as far as trauma, just won out.”

I suspect the picture was taken in better days and that his facial expression was likely appropriate for that time. I think they released the photo to give people info on identifying features. The photo - and tatoos - don't seem abnormal to me. Could be anybody on a nice summer day. Of course, with what has just happened, it's hard to look back with any objectivity. JMO.
I was resorting to 3rd grade name calling. I just lost it over this image knowing the unspeakable acts he is responsible for. You know what? I am going to give myself a time out. Thank-you for being the adult in the room. 😃

Can somebody provide a link for this information?

Later on this thread, this information has seemed to turn into the girls would scream/cry on returning to one of the parents.
JMO but it's important to know whether TD or the girls were screaming.

Thanks. Unfortunately I can't read it, website not available in the EU apparently. But that's not your fault, obviously.
I'll go and see if I can find it somewhere else.

Here is the quote from that article that mentions screaming/crying:

"In a declaration, filed Sept. 20, 2024, Whitney said ‘Since our separation, it has become increasingly clear that Travis has been struggling to maintain stability in his life.’ The ‘lack of stability’ led to a ‘negative impact on our children.’ She said they were ‘deeply affected’ which led to ‘heightened emotional stress. This is demonstrated through screaming/crying bouts at drop off or when they get off a phone call,’ she wrote. She said it was in the children’s best interest to no longer go overnight with their father until he was no longer homeless."

I’m also in the eu. If you search my posts I posted a link to a yahoo article that contained the same info.

TY That's what I've thought/suspected and have also personally (on my property) experienced in Co Springs with the homeless veteran population that resides there in many different homeless encampments. -- lack of mental health continuing help.

After reading this statement from Whitney Decker’s attorney: I will not sleep tonight. As a community at Websleuths every one of us shares in her indescribable suffering and pain.. 😢

Trying to rationalize why his body wasn't found with the girls and perhaps he couldn't off himself in the same manner.
Is there somewhere nearby that is high enough he could throw himself into the water to unalive himself?
My thoughts exactly. He must have loved these girls since he continued to be part of their lives. How could he live with himself after this? IF he is alive, he must be haunted by what he did all alone in the wilderness. IMO, he will take his own life.

I'm not sure why people assume he feels guilty when it sounds as if he planned on killing these precious girls.

Can’t remember if I saw it anywhere…but do we know if TD did any tours overseas? It seems like from the time of purchasing their newest house, TD began to unravel. Divorce, part-time work to not working anymore, being homeless, then murder of the girls and he goes missing. It’s almost like little by little he got further and further away from civilian life, which makes me question if he deluded himself into thinking throwing everything away and going off grid was the ultimate “purge” to be “free” and one with nature.

Or, maybe it’s as simple as he blamed his ex wife for everything he’s gone through, and killing the girls was the ultimate FU. Sigh.

If you look at the most recent article it states that he did a tour of Afghanistan.

I don't see how an amber alert would have changed anything. As long as he kept getting the children this was going to be the outcome.

I know this is going to be confusing. But I will try so please be kind.

The Washington State Patrol was contacted Friday night to request an AMBER Alert, according to the Wenatchee Police Department. However, the case did not meet the requirements of such an alert.

It didn't qualify at the time because "there was no current evidence to believe the children were at risk of serious bodily injury or death it did not qualify”. A second request was completed then sent by the Wenatchee Police on Saturday mornings with additional criteria documented. They urged an Amber Alert be instituted from WSP on Saturday. WSP replied on Saturday that the request from Wenatchee Police still did not satisfy the requirements. But WSP agreed that the second request did indeed rise to the level of urgent and issued an Endangered Missing Person Alert instead (this is a level below and in addition has an expiration window).

Would an Amber Alert have helped find the truck sooner probably not but the really sad part is we will never know. I hope I have accurately portrayed the facts. In conclusion we all know the tragedy which followed ‘that the three girls were found dead on Monday’.

I am paraphrasing so if anything I wrote is in error please flag my post.
