Chelan County sheriff's officials activated the East Cascade SWAT Team about 5 p.m. to respond to
Rock Island Campground, about 18 miles west of Leavenworth in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Deputies closed down Icicle Road near Snow Lakes Trailhead just before 7 p.m.; it remained closed as of 9 p.m., staffed by two deputies directing motorists headed higher into the Icicle Valley to turn around.
