Found Deceased Olivia 5, Evelyn 8 & Paityn Decker 9, Endangered Alert, visitation w/ homeless dad Travis Decker 32, wh 2017 GMC Sierra PU, Wenatchee, 30 May 2025

Who

I find it completely outlandish that the father has any visitation rights if he's homeless. What in the hell is that law out there in Washington?
Why not supervised visitation at a facility? It doesn’t sound safe or stable for three young kids to be exposed to the dangers of homelessness if there is any other option available.

IMHO, the courts sometimes (often?) prioritize parental rights over the safety and wellbeing of children.

I hope these sweet girls are still alive and can be returned to their mother.

There is police activity at a remote campground near Leavenworth that is believed to be connected to this case. The sheriff's office confirmed that it involves an ongoing investigation, but can't comment further. The Endangered Alert has been canceled.

I don't like the way this sounds -- I hope the girls are safe.

Chelan County sheriff's officials activated the East Cascade SWAT Team about 5 p.m. to respond to Rock Island Campground, about 18 miles west of Leavenworth in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Deputies closed down Icicle Road near Snow Lakes Trailhead just before 7 p.m.; it remained closed as of 9 p.m., staffed by two deputies directing motorists headed higher into the Icicle Valley to turn around.

*****
Earlier in the day, Decker was charged with three counts of first-degree custodial interference for allegedly failing to return his children.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Monday, that missing alert was canceled by the State Patrol. No information was given as to whether the girls had been found safe.

An endangered missing person alert for three young girls from Wenatchee was canceled Monday evening, though police say the investigation remains ongoing.

Wenatchee Police Department Capt. Brian Chance told The Wenatchee World that further details will be released Tuesday morning.

As the search continued, community members gathered at Memorial Park for a vigil Monday night. The event, organized through social media, began at 8:30 p.m. and was intended to bring people together to show support and solidarity.

Emphasis mine.
Agreed, esp. the bolded.
There have been other cases involving young kids where I thought ... what is the court/CPS thinking ?
Imo.

He was scheduled to have the girls for 3 hours - from 5 pm to 8 pm. No overnight stay. That's dinnertime, so the assumption is that he'd take them to dinner and then return them.

In the video included with this article, the mom says that the dad has struggled with mental health issues since he left the military. (This was recorded while the alert was still active.)

Seeing the photo of this dad alarmed me.

We need much better education about mental health issues in this country and we need better care options - money needs to be allocated toward mental health.
As a wealthy nation, we need to prioritize caring for our mentally ill and their families.
I’m very saddened to read that he is ex military.
We should take better care of those who serve our country.
It’s upsetting to me that this dad was living in his car and homeless.
I can’t even imagine what this mom is going through.
Praying that by some miracle that we get great news at the impending press conference.
All IMHO

So not for a long time, then, and I'd imagine other past visits went smoothly ?
But I still wish all visits with their dad had been supervised or drop off/pick up at a public location .
Omo.

I do not like these developments. I know mom says she doesn't think dad would harm the girls, LE cancelling the alert but not telling the public WHY they have done so without any clue as to whether girls have been found deceased or alive or what is a huge red flag.

I pray they are not out there investigating deaths :(

UPDATE: Police response shuts down Icicle Road; father of missing girls sought on warrant

the timing of these events. What did they find between 7 and 8 pm?

Exactly. LE doesn’t act this way when they’ve found living children, IMO. 😭 I hope I’m wrong.

My heart has been in my stomach all night. I imagine the best we can hope for at this point is that this is an active stand off, where LE is trying to talk the father into surrendering, as this gives the chance that the girls are still alive.
