The Wenatchee Police Department is asking for assistance in locating three juvenile females believed to be missing and unable to return home on their own. All three were last seen around 5pm on Friday May 30, 2025, as they left their home with the father for their planned visitation. They have not retuned and contact cannot be made with the father.

The father, Travis Decker, is homeless and living in his vehicle or at various hotels/motels or at campgrounds in the area. The visitation was part of a parenting plan, but he has since gone outside the parameters of it which is not normal and cause for the alarm.

The current investigation has not met AMBER Alert criteria, but the situation being monitored closely. However, an Endangered Missing Person Alert (EMPA) has been issues through the Washington State Patrol.

Please be on the look out and call 911 or RiverCom at 509-663-9911 if located.

"The girls' mother, Whitney Decker, has posted about their disappearance on Facebook and is asking the public for help. A post from May 31 read: 'Last night at 8pm Travis was supposed to drop the girls back off with me and never showed. The cops have him going north out of Wenatchee at 5:41. If you could please all keep an eye out for him, his phone is off and every hotel in Wenatchee and East Wenatchee have been checked.'"

What is the matter with the Wenatchee Police, “the criteria for an AMBER Alert has not been met”

Should we message Patricia and have her get an explanation from the Wenatchee Police why 3 little girls missing since Friday does not qualify for an Amber Alert?

Praying this doesn't turn out like the Skelton brothers. :(
How is Travis supporting/feeding/sheltering them, if he's homeless and without means ?
Omo.

I wondered the same thing about what's he's doing with them. The first article linked above says he has been "living in his vehicle or at various hotels/motels or at campgrounds in the area." He must have some means if he's able to afford a hotel/motel sometimes, or pay a fee at a campground. I'm hoping he took the girls camping and the girls are clueless about what's going on, just having a great time and not scared or hungry.

Unfortunately for some cases, Amber alerts have very specific criteria and serve a very specific purpose. I agree that there should be some kind of secondary alert system that also sends out notifications for ALL situations where a child is urgently missing.

Maybe in this case it's a good thing an amber alert hasn't been issued, as it could imply the girls are not in imminent harm as they are with their father, just out of touch. It seems like all other criteria are met in this instance. JMO.

Summary of Department of Justice Recommended Criteria

  • There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred.
  • The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
  • There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child.
  • The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.
  • The child’s name and other critical data elements, including the Child Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.

According to the Washington State Patrol,”
What they're saying:

"The visitation was part of a parenting plan, but he has since gone outside the parameters of it which is not normal and cause for the alarm," according to the WSP.

He is reportedly homeless and living out of hotels, motels, or his vehicle. He was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and dark shorts.

I am not disagreeing with you that indeed certain criteria need to be met. But in the quote from WSP in their press release it ‘raises the bar to ‘cause for alarm’. Perhaps I’m interpreting the wording wrong but I feel ‘cause for alarm’ means ‘imminent danger’. Or close enough when 3 girls are unreachable since Friday.

Most states' guidelines adhere closely to the Department of Justice's recommended guidelines. (1st sentence link HERE)

However, they are not required to. The following info is specific to Washington State. I do not know how closely they adhere to the DOJ's guidelines.

it seems like they might be hanging on the 'in danger of imminent death or serious bodily injury' - seems to me all the other elements are met

I find it completely outlandish that the father has any visitation rights if he's homeless. What in the hell is that law out there in Washington?

Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5, were last seen Friday during a visit with their father, Travis Decker, police said. An alert has been issued to try and find the girls.
