OMG - Steven Curtis Chapman's 5 year old daughter Maria killed in auto accident!

This is so sad... Something similiar happened around here about 2 years ago... A Congressman or alderman or something, (someone in politics, anyway!!) backed up and ran over his 18 month old granddaughter and she was killed..
I can't imagine the pain ....

Oh I just seen this on CNN how sad, I will be praying for this family not just for their tragic loss but also having to deal with the son who accidentally hit her, I am sure he will have much guilt and emotional issues.

OMG how awful!
Poor Maria, may she rest in peace.
Her poor brother, how will he recover.

This happened to a neighbor of ours a few years ago and it was a double tragedy. A grandfather was backing out of his driveway and ran over his 3 yr old grandson. When he realized what he'd done, he pulled back over the toddler killing him. The grandfather got out of the car, ran to the toddler and died of a massive heart attack.

That family is still suffering which is understandable.

So heartbreaking. These types of tragedies really do take my breath away. My prayers for this family.

I have been avoiding reading this story and finally read it this morning...Steven Curtis Chapman and his music have cradled me during some pretty tormented times in my life. So very, very sad....

what a revelation is that? this just reminds us that not only do our children grow up too quickly and we should slow down and enjoy them, but for reasons unknown we aren't able to watch them grow up. we have to enjoy every minute!!

I was listening to my local christian radio channel this morning on the way to work and they played a interview of Steven a few weeks ago saying that his family, especially his girls, just loved to sit at the table and color and be together then anything else. So sad. I am sure she will be sorely missed, poor little thing.

What a horrible family tragedy. I have good friends who work in the operating area at Vanderbilt children's - one is a nurse and one is a perfusionist. I know that they have wonderful physicians and staff there in the ER and trauma area as well - top of the top. I know they would have gone above and beyond at that hospital for any child. How SAD!! It brought tears to my eyes... this man and his wife have done so much to bring children to good families and to provide a loving home to his own children - biological and adopted. I feel so bad that this happened to them! And yes, what a horrible thing for his older son to have to live with! My prayers are with them all!

I don't believe they have identified the driver...both sons were over 16.

No... they have been very careful to just say that it was a vehicle drive by one of the older boys, but they have not identified which one. I am sure they will not for privacy issues.

Yes...and I am sure despite the great loss of little Maria, that Steven and his wife are holding that boy close to them...reassuring him over and over that he is blameless, and that he is forever forgiven by them. That poor, poor young man.
