Hiya LadyL,

With all due respect, we do not know whether he stole anything of hers or anyone's for all that matter. Heather obviously felt that Samuel was a friend, the ex-husband of her cousin. They may have known one another for many years (high school? family get togethers?) and she felt quite okay about him -- enough so to live in the same place with him. She was evidently helping him out, according to her family -- in fact, might she have said, "Here, use my card for some groceries for us." I know...maybe a stretch, but we have no information on the real possibility of the "credit card fraud and ID theft charges." But did Samuel ever do anything questionable like this before? I think it is possible that LE picked him up on a possibly trumped up charge due to the situation and to question him per Heather? They released him, perhaps they learned information that reasonably disconnected him from the charges they jailed him for AND due to questioning him about Heather (alibi?) Certainly, a "roommate" would be one of the FIRST people you might try to grab and question. Seems LE did this.

Samuel may be in as much shock as anyone else about Heather's death. I am not all together sure who the "cousin" is to whom he was married. I have found an FB page that makes me think this could be the cousin (or is it a sister of Heather?):

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/profile.php?id=1256647464&ref=ts

The two youngins in the photo on the above FB, could those be Mr. Sears children?

I found something interesting on the above FB page. The owner of the page asks:

>>Why don't you ever see the headline "Psychic Wins Lottery"?<<

Samuel responds with:

>>ok, i already told you to stop!<<

And the owner of the page says "Like." So it seems like friendly enough banter between two people who are "discussing" so to speak (and TW seems quite loving). In other words, I might imagine that the owner of the FB page knows Heather, knows she says she is a pyschic, and they are trying to say, "Look Samuel, I don't care what you might have heard from 'a psychic' -- these people don't win lotteries you know." Is it possible that Samuel permitted Heather to "read his future" and be led by it? And maybe TW (ex-wife?) was saying, "Ummm...you might ask yourself whether listening to a pyschic is a good idea."

I've done some researching on Mr. Mears. His FB page photo shows quite an agreeable fellow, as opposed to the scary booking photo in the paper (these make people look scary.) I've also found Mr. Mears on an FB page congratulating people on the birth of their baby.

My reasonable guess is that Mr. Mears lived in Los Angeles County with many of the others in this case. I do not know if the person on this page is him, but perhaps.

There is so much more to figure out here.

Hello Oregandars...

Do we have any more information on this case?

I notice that one of the FB pages mentioned above has gone private. I'm speculating it is due to some of the news we heard yesterday and the day before.

Wondering, who knows how to search if X person has a police record in a certain area?

I don't see Mears listed on Vinelink in CA, NJ or OR. He also does not come up in regional news articles. I did, however, find him here at the Federal Bureau of Prisons but don't know what to think of this:

SAMUEL DARNELL MEARS
03529-028
54-Black-M
UNKNOWN
NOT IN BOP CUSTODY

(no other info listed)

I think we're going to have to wait for the investigation to progress to get more info. In looking at his MS page, just wondering if anyone knows what the pendant is that Mears is wearing around his neck?

Dang, Izzy I am not joking my magnifying glass is over DD's. I don't know how to blow up photograph's online so I use my mom's good old trusty. That or a loop photographers have.

Miss Izz, if you go to Peoplefinders and tap in his name you'll see both he and his Reverand dad come up. Lemme go back and see what I found again. Relatives come up in Florida as well I know that, but he does not.

O.K. Izzy in my post #60 that is the 54 year old lived those places. The one in his 30's comes up in a bunch of places in California. Hope I didn't confuse things. Oh and the one in his 30's did graduate from Vineland High School or some school in Vineland, NJ.

Seems like Mears makes some comment about thanking those who wrote to him when he was "down" so maybe he did do time. Said he's coming back to the 'caster (Lancaster).

I believe there's a photo of his son on both pages but if my math is correct, the young man would be an adult now. He's hard to miss.

Good Lord, what are you doing up??? Maybe you really lied and you're not in Philly, you're in Hawaii. I knew it. I don't want to get in trouble by posting the myspace pages but I do think the boy is 18 or over. Some tattoo. Not quite sure what all this might mean. It does look like Mears and Heather might have crossed paths in Southern California. I wish we had Belinda to do some records checking for us.

Having so many young men of color in my family, I have to say that Roseburg has never felt too comfortable for us. It's a nice little town but I've felt uncomfortable a time or two. I wonder why Mears would head to this little spot? It could not be more different than the California desert town of Lancaster. Roseburg is the beginning of the true Oregon weather--misty and cool. That's the opposite of Lancaster. And it looks like he might have a slightly younger boy. I'm not understanding if he was here first or if Heather came first.

This is for Senior. He also has convictions in FL, NC, CA & GA. Numerous.

The one in this story, I believe, is Junior who is 36. He had 2 felony cases in CA in the 1990's, but it doesn't show for what or the outcome.

Credit card issue is weird. If he has ever used it before with her consent and can prove with that by witness at stores they visited often or whatever would they have a case? Also it may be a bussiness card which alot of people give people who work for them.

Now Something that stuck me as odd.
The ex hasnt talked to her for months, texts her wensday, she doesnt answer he finds that odd.
It is a weird co winky dink months of not talking he text her.
It was odd turns out.

(if we go by criminal profiling would the text mesage smack in the middle fit with suspect behavior?)

i agree - that text from the ex was the first thing that jumped out at me too...

The ex was the first to announce on his MS page that "Heather is gone..." His MS URL is interesting. It's only71stitches--head injury, possibly. I've found it quite weird that he would expect an instant reply UNLESS he is still in contact with her father. Her Dad mentioned that he called Heather daily on his way home from a class. Possibly when Dad didn't get a reply, he asked his former son-in-law to try texting.

Thank you, Belinda, for checking the record. I still think that the SM now is Roseburg did some time, thus that comment. The youngest SM has the same name. He's the one I believe to be 18-19.

I just spent a full hour researching Southern Oregon Wiccan-friendly MS pages, shop sites, forums, etc. and I have to say that I'm taken aback. The Wiccan circle is a close one, IME, and I would think that individuals and gathering places would be full of comments about Heather's murder and loving blessings. I see nothing, other than the comments made by her circle of friends who are in CA or NV, on her own MS page. This leads me to believe that she was either not known here, was not accepted for whatever reason, or misrepresented herself in some way. I know she was looking for a business partner for some sort of 6th sensory "work". Maybe this is not an widely accepted use of Wiccan gifts. I honestly don't know. I'm out of my league here and really apologize if I've offended in any way. I'm just trying so hard to make sense of this sad loss.

I did find one very strange post. Because our family is transcultural and has been the target of four hate crimes in the last 18 years (one very very scary one which was handled by the State Police), I've always kept an eye on White Supremacy groups. My husband is so happy I've found WS as it keeps me off those other forums which do nothing but make me seethe with anger.

I'm going to post a link. This is to a horribly racist site. This particular page is concerning places to move in Oregon which would feel comfortable for a person not accepting of any diversity . I was quite pleased that Ashland makes these people gag. We're doing something right, then. Do a search for Roseburg on this page and a very odd post will come up. Hmmmmm.

http://www.stormfront.org/forum/t570683/

The post was posted on 2/16/09 and oddly mentions Roseburg, Green, and Glide--all three towns linked to Heather in some way. It also mentions Wiccans. I don't know what to think of this. Are they alerting other like-minded racist folk about this gathering so that they can intimidate the participants? If so, I can see how Wiccans in Central Oregon would be very paranoid. Or is there some cross over with Wicca and white supremacy for a handful of people? That seems hard to believe as the Wicca I know is very accepting and inclusive. But we all know that some Christians take part in some mighty mean-spirited acts and still call themselves Christian!! I'd be very interested in everyone's take on this, especially since Heather's housemate was a black man.

I still find it odd that I can't find a single review for her carpet cleaning business in Nevada. There are lots of other reviews for cleaners in Las Vegas but none found for A Sharp (whose site has been shut down). I wonder who got the fancy trailer or the money from the sale of it? And how about the equipment? Several things seem very curious to me.

Let it never be said that Missizzy is afraid to follow whatever path necessary to find the truth. If someone told me a few years ago that I'd be linking to Stormfront, myredbook, and Satanic ritual abuse calendars, I'm afraid I would have laughed.

Never say never. If the perps hide under rocks, we've got to dig under those rocks to find them.

Former roommate of Green murder victim arrested

"A man who relatives and friends say had shared a house in Green with homicide victim Heather Lynn Thompson was arrested on unrelated charges one day after her body was found last week.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office took Samuel Darnell Mears, 36, of Sutherlin into custody Friday on suspicion of fraudulent use of a credit card and identity theft, according to jail records...."

and

"....As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests had been made in connection to her death, Hutson said. He declined to say whether detectives have identified anyone as a suspect or person of interest.

“We haven't made any comment about Mr. Mears and aren't prepared to do so at this time,” Hutson said.

and

"....Heather Thompson's ex-husband, MT of Rosamond, Calif., said Mears, who goes by Sam, moved to Green from Southern California to live with Heather Thompson about the same time she moved here from Las Vegas in early June....."

more at link (just to be clear, Mr. Mears was NOT arrested in connection with Heather's death--only on unrelated charges)

Thanks Missizzy,

IMO - It's early in the investigation yet and detectives are being tight lipped with info. My guess is they are awaiting results of DNA testing to proceed. I think DNA testing could take at least 10 days or so if it was rushed.

The only info I gathered if accurate was the husband had a friend in the area.

I do tend to think she was a newcomer to the area and had few local wiccan friends. For the most part I consider Wiccans fairly harmless in their practice. JMO

My Crystal ball has been working though. :)

Peliman--ITA. I don't think Heather had enough time to build alliances with the local community. People have to keep in mind that it's no different than joining a church or a service club. It takes a while to be known and "within the circle".

My prayers are with her loved ones.

Hello everyone. My name is Stephanie. I met Heather back in 2007. She moved in to the house next door to me. After seeing her outside a few times she walked up to me and inturduced her self. We've been friends since then. She was a very beautiful person. Caring, and great friend to me. Here's some stuff I'll share with you about heather.

-The pictures of her and her dog, (Louie) are about 1 or 2 years old. She hasn't had him for too long. She treated him just like a kid. Louie is a hyper dog, but VERY protective of Heather. So with that said I believe who ever this monster is, knew about the dog and he was locked up away from her.
-Heather didn't have any kids. The 2 kids her exhusband have are from his wife now.
-Her carpet busniess was with her exhusband's brother, "Sexy Man" . Even though they are divorced, she was still good friends with him and his brother. She moved out her to Vegas to help him with the business. With the economy, not alot of people are getting carpets cleaned now. The business was real.
-From the first day I met her, she has always dreamed of going to Oregon.
-She hated the desert and wanted change.
-Heather never drank, and I know she hated drugs. So I don't see a reason to think drugs were related.
-She wanted to open up a business in Oregon that was something to do with school. She's always been the helping type. Plus she was a teacher in Califorina when she was younger.

Heather was a very good friend. I wish you all could have met her. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask me.

Welcome Stephanie! Thank you so much for bringing a personal viewpoint to the discussion. She sounds like she was such a nice person. I hope you will continue to post and help us to learn more about Heather. Very helpful information indeed.
