I don't know if this might be Heather or not. Our new poster said that Heather also posted on dating sites and Ebay. I've been checking to see where she might have posted using her four screen names--that I know of. I'm just going to post what I found by poking around. Some things might be her, some not. I fully realize that dcc66 says that Heather only gave out her number to her, but it's always possible that she gave it to a few other people. JMO

I found this and it doesn't look good. It might be someone else with the coldheart71 screen name or it could just be a sexy dating site which also has a friends section.

This is a MS forum where she's discussing a dog of hers who has cancer. She's asking for any magickal help as she does not believe in prescription meds. This is from several years ago.

At first I thought that Heather only used "cldhrt" but it's clear she also used coldheart71, at least on ebay. Looks like she recently bought some chargers of some sort.

Police seek help in Green homicide investigation

Investigators are asking the public to help with their ongoing investigation of the slaying of Heather Lynn Thompson.

Thompson, 39, was found dead on her property at 176 Honey Lane in Green on Aug. 5. The Douglas County Major Crimes Team continues to investigate the homicide, according to a Douglas County Sheriff's Office news release.

No one has been arrested in connection to Thompson's death, Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy Dwes Hutson said this morning.

The Major Crimes Team would like to talk to anyone who may have seen Thompson's pickup being driven between Aug. 1 and Aug. 6.

Thompson's vehicle is a 2002 Ford F-150 XLT extra cab pickup with California license plate, ASHARP5. The pickup is a maroon color, has a hard shell bed cover, no front grill, and has minor damage to the passenger's and driver's side front fenders.

Additionally, Thompson's family has set up a blog site at www.rememberheatherthompson.blogspot.com. Family members are encouraging the public to go there to make comments about Thompson or to provide information on the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff's Office tip line at 541-957-2099.

Heather's phone number is not connected to her address in Oregon-OKcupid is the only site I knew she was on and active in. she would not do erotic sites. She was one class away from finishing her degree in psychology in an online school-she had friends from school all over the country. She wanted to counsel people. She had big dreams and was making steps towards them.
We never met--but we spoke for hours-she loved her eggos and peanutbutter and her milk and applejuice and hershey's chocolate bars..she saw butterfiles all over town the last two weeks of her life and was so excited...I am glad she came into my life--
I spoke with the sheriff's department the first week.

Thinking on this some while at work today about the LE request for help. A couple things have struck me about the case.

Police are asking for people who may have sighted Heathers truck. "The Major Crimes Team would like to talk to anyone who may have seen Thompson's pickup being driven between Aug. 1 and Aug. 6."

The same LE is asking for sightings up to one day after she was found.

"The Sheriff's Office began an investigation. During a search of Thompson's home on Thursday, August 5th, investigators found Heather Thompson, deceased, the apparent victim of foul play."

Was her truck missing from the home the day LE found her? It seems to me LE would have found her truck with her. Now I'm curious good people.

Just out of curiosity I'm wondering if SM had transportation? Did he own a vehicle. Please remember I'm just probing some here a bit. How did he get from Calif. to Oregon?

Not sure how to approach this but if the vehicle was going to be spotted it had to be in and around the Green/Roseburg area and I'm not sure the best way to get the word out is to hope people read news stories. I've been unable to find any local forums, let alone discussion in the local area. Sooo I'm asking if anyone knows any local forums besides news postings to visit and spread the word.

for new comments. Lots of details that we did not have. I have a few questions. Does anyone know why Heather did not want to be by herself on the night of August 3rd? The commenter, "Father" says that she planned to stay at her friend, CS's, house. Was something frightening her or was this the first night that SM was not staying with her? For some reason, I had the impression that Heather was a spirited, sort of fearless woman. Was it typical for her to be afraid to be alone?

She obviously was quite open about giving out her email address and phone number. Would she have also given out her home address to someone using her services on line?

I also wondered if anyone knew, maybe dcc66, at which school Heather was studying for her degree.

Being that friends and family searched her property and home and did not find her and yet, LE later said her body was found on the property, is there any possibility that her body was found inside the truck--possibly the bed? That is why it's important to know whether the truck was there when family and friends came searching initially.

And, Peliman, it sounds like the answer to your question about SM having transportation is that he did not, according to the link above.

There's also a comment under the News Review article commenting that SM and Heather had had an argument on the day of her death. I'm not sure where they read that. It is true that there really is no forum for people in Roseburg to discuss the case. Hopefully, that will happen on her new page or possibly here.

I'd like to see the primary profile on her page tell more about Heather and her typical movements within Roseburg. Are there any photos of Louie available, if he went with her on her errands? People in Oregon notice dogs. Possibly not everyone will read all the comments and I think it would be helpful to give whatever timeline is known in the profile. JMO

I haven't been to the Pacific NW in many years and had forgotten just how seriously people take their "alternate" lifestyles; it gets a bit much for my tastes, but poor Heather certainly did NOT deserve any of this. So sad that she, apparently, just wanted to live in peace/harmony in a creative and open-minded environment and yet like so many other innocents, her life ends in violence and murder. Depressing...

I have read this entire thread and much is unclear- guess I 'skipped over' something? Anyway- I see where the temp. 'roomie' got arrested- so, he WAS using her credit cards/ID?? At first when I read of his arrest, I was like- "They caught the guy"- but noooo.... he was just arrested with her property or?? Is he a 'person of interest' or was he just caught in a crime of opportunity? Why no details re./from her cell phone? I am just so confused- any help would be appreciated w/my questions. Thank you Annmarie--We Oregonians are an "interesting" lot, aren't we? I have to admit that there are many many unknowns in this case. While I'm hopeful that the Roseburg PD are hard at work on this case, we have to remember that Roseburg is not a large town and isn't especially close to any major news sources. I've actually been really surprised that the Medford Mail Tribune, Eugene Register Guard and Portland Oregonian have not run more thorough articles. There seems to be great disconnect.

I'm very pleased that family and friends have put together a page for Heather but I just can't emphasize enough how important it is to have a clear and easy to read timeline front and center. The relative, SM, is of great interest but there are also many other factors that need to be considered IMO. Many people will not take the time to read the entire list of comments and that seems to be where many of the details are.

This crime needs to be solved NOW.

I check every single day, and have found nothing. There has not been much action on the personal "Heather page", either. I'm hopeful that LE are busy and that some tips are coming in. Very hopeful. I agree, this needs to be solved. I'm so sorry for the pain which Heather's circle of friends and family must be enduring.

I haven't posted a thread for the incident I'm going to describe but I thought I'd mention it here. We recently had a young man from Ashland die a mysterious death. His name wass Jesse Golden but he grew up here in Ashland. He went to Ashland schools, graduating in 2002, and attended college at UofO in Eugene. Jesse most recently worked at a vegan restaurant in Eugene and had just taken some vacation days.

Sadly, his body was found on the side of I-5 near the Yoncalla exit at 3 am on Monday, Sept. 9th by a passing trucker. His car was pointed north. One would think that he'd have left Eugene and would have been heading south to Ashland to see his family. That detail seems odd to me.

The autopsy says that he died from either jumping or falling from an overpass of 28 feet. My husband is a contractor and we've raised a lot of boys. He says that that seems like a very odd height to jump from if one wanted to commit suicide. He was found on the side of the road so I don't know if he ended up on the pavement or the grass. He was not struck by a vehicle. Did Jesse meet someone on the bridge? Did he pass under it and suddenly decide to turn around via the median and commit suicide? No drugs, no evidence of foul play.

FWIW, the Yoncalla exit is 30 miles north of Green. Here's an article about Jesse's death. He will be greatly missed by many friends in both Ashland and Eugene. He was noted to be especially happy on his last day on the job.

I know everyone will raise their eyebrows at the "no cell service" comment but that is true. There are several areas along I-5 in that area which have absolutely no service due to the mountains.

This case is on my radar every single morning. I've seen no news and read no new comments. I believe that Heather's family is most likely going to have to be extremely demanding with the local LE. The squeaky wheel syndrome........

Just read this entire thread on Heather and am baffled and honestly a little pi&&ed that not only is this case not solved, but there is no new news. What is going on with the police department up there? I read that Green is a tiny town, and the surrounding areas are rural too (Glide, Roseburg, etc) so we're not dealing with a huge population of potential suspects. In addition, Heather had only been living there a couple of months, so how hard can it be for LE to trace the particular people she had met/had contact with and investigate them? My gut feeling is that Heather's killer was local to the Green area, and did not travel from CA or Las Vegas to murder her. Not only that, but the police have come out with absolutely no news about their investigation. How was Heather killed? The public doesn't need specifics, but the general manner of death may be a clue to someone. How about DNA? Did they even test for it? And if so, why don't they tell the public whether any was found on her body or not? If this were my family member I'd be seething and demanding answers from LE. I know this sounds horrible, but is Green a 'good old boy' type town? Could LE not be working on this as hard as they should either because Heather was a green witch or because she was not local/had just moved to the area? Do they see her as not as important? Or worse yet, could LE be protecting someone? They seemed awfully quick to arrest SM for identity theft, then nothing. Did those charges stick? I imagine he has a rock solid alibi because they released him so quickly. Just so many questions, and I can't imagine the heartbreak Heather's family is going through. Heather deserves justice! Perhaps those local to the crime/fellow Oregonians can write letters to their local papers/call their local reporters or Green LE and try to find out what is going on here. Because something doesn't sit right with me. This crime is such a tragedy, and it seems nothing is being done about it. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if SM is still living in Oregon? Or did he move back to Cali, and if so, how long after Heather's death did he do so? Thanks everyone for all your hard work, especially Belinda and Missizzy. Mia--Maybe I can speak (somewhat) to your questions about Green as I live in Oregon. Central Oregon is definitely different than the town I live in Ashland, 90 miles south. Ashland is extremely liberal and known as an "artsy, hippie, college town". Glide, Roseburg, and Green are all much more conservative but they are still in Oregon. Oregon has a long history of embracing those who are a little different. Roseburg has a core group of Wiccans and imagine that Heather was known to some of them.

I can't, in a million years, imagine that Heather's beliefs have in any way held up the investigation. FWIW, there have been a number of murders and mysterious deaths in the Pacific Northwest which have gone unsolved. If I were family, I agree, I would be going nuts and hassling up a storm.

I too am a bit perplexed about why so much info was released immediately about the sad death and rape of the little girl that same month. The entire complaint and all documents of the confession and of the medical findings were made public (much to some people's outrage). And yet not a word about Heather. My only guess is that the way she died must be extremely unique to the case and possibly only the killer would have some specific information.

I still suspect that she was found in the truck as her property was searched and she was not found. I'm unclear as to where that truck was during the search. If anyone cares to clarify this, that would be helpful. I did a lot of research on this case and I came away with the impression that Heather was a lot like me--probably too trusting. She seemed to give out her private email address and location to many people she met on the internet "psychic" sites. Could one of those people have hunted her down? I checked carefully and I did not see any particular client which seemed to stick out.

I still (and I mean no disrespect AT ALL to family) consider her proximity to the I-5 corridor to be an issue. There is so much pot grown in Oregon. 40,000 of us hold medical marijuana cards and Heather might have had a license to grow. Note that she had some contact with someone in the Williams/Ruch area--our emerald triangle. It wouldn't be the first time that someone growing legally has been robbed and violently hurt.

I also wonder about her "readings" and wonder if she might have agreed to do one for someone who expected more--such as in sexual favors. Craigslist, at the time, was full of ads for all sorts of personal services in the Roseburg area. I know that some of the ads talked about readings and tantric services. Maybe someone misgauged just what kind of service Heather was offering.

As to SM, I honestly don't know where he is but will do some research. That's worth looking into. I agree that most likely he had permission to use her credit card. That's one of the reasons that I keep bringing up cannabis. It's common for growers, caregivers, and patients (the triad in Oregon) to share credit cards for supplies. And there are many horticulture shops in that area which specialize in supplies.

I have to say that I was taken aback by her seeming popularity on some of the internet sites and the absolute lack of notice concerning her death. That made me very sad for her and for her clients. I'm not a believer in readings but I respect those who are and I know they can become very attached to their reader. They deserved notice.

I've noticed that people continue to leave sweet notes on her special site but I still think some work could be done there. Maybe the family could get together and run Craigslist ads and small ads in the paper directling people with info to that site and to the appropriate detective. I happen to believe that the description of Heather and the timeline could use a little work to job people's memory. JMO

I'll do some more looking. Heather's family certainly deserves closure.

Given SM's MS page, I would assume that he's back in Southern California. Within the last couple of months, he's gotten notices about club events in the Lancaster area and I doubt anyone would send those to him if he was known to be in Oregon.

I did find something that I'd missed earlier. There's a young man by the same name who I believe is a son. He says he's had some college. I find a listing by that name at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR (140 miles north of Green).

There was talk of Heather looking at houses to buy in the Albany area. I could never understand that as Albany is even more conservative, IMO, than Roseburg and quite depressed right now due to the economy. Anyway, I wonder if SM moved up with her to be closer to a son at Western? They might have been looking at houses in the Albany area (a foreclosed home buyer's dream right now) as Albany is only 20 miles from the college. The young man was involved in a choir there for the 2009-2010 school year. I don't see him listed this year, however.

FWIW, there's a mention of kush on SM's MS page. Kush is a high potency form of cannabis and is extremely prevalent in the Humboldt County, CA areas up through Central Oregon. It commands a high price on the street and is considered medical grade and is sought after for MM cardholders.

I'm fairly certain, though, that there must be tens of thousands of references to it on MS. It's kind of put far Northern CA and Southern Oregon on the map.

I'm just reporting from the research "road" and not expressing opinions of my own. I'll keep those to myself, in this instance.
