I wonder if that means that there is a chance all three men are in another snow cave. if all three are together - they would have a better chance of staying warmer, and keeping their spirits high.

Cwiz, on that site they said that they think that poster was a spammer who gets into the blog as a regular poster and then tries to sell his wares. He was trying to sell radios!

Searcher reached snowcave and no people were found inside.

A few sleeping bags and some rope, twas all. sad

Unless they made another snow cave, which would be hard in the condition they would have been in (cold, hungry, possibly disoriented), I am thinking they will not be found alive. Really sad.

Yeah, but they were getting snippy with more people than just that guy. Never mind...off topic anyway. Just thought it was an interesting juxtaposition to WS.

This is so discouraging, and it's getting dark there fast!

Oh No... Please God let us have a happy ending to this story...

They are going to stay up as long as they can. They will keep searching the area. A little bit of a setback, but they are going to follow the clues.

I wonder if the 2 men who originally left and realized they were in better shape, went back and took Kally out of that cave and brought him to theirs so they could take care of him. I think these guys would do that and risk their own lives to help a dear friend.

Wish they would give us the clues.

Presser on right now. They think these men built that snow cave, knew what they were doing and could do it again.

I think they wouldn't have left the sleeping bag. :(

I hope this is what happened, scandi! The cell phone pings from Tuesday and the relatively recent footprints are promising, but why would the footprints go up??? Unless they figured they couldn't go down from that side of the mountain because it was too steep, and decided to cross over the top and head down the other side. Oh I hope....

Previously when I read this poem you posted, I had no idea that you wrote it yourself. It brought me to tears. You totally rock at writing poetry, Sundayrain! Just beautiful!

Thanks again to everyone for all the great info being posted.

Praying hard for a positive outcome to this rescue!
You are soooo sweet Liz........kind words appreciated.
I just sat here and typed....the words came from a higher power I am guessing.
You are just tooooo kind.

Even as these reports on CNN are saying that "NO ONE" is in the cave.........
we have to think good thoughts......whatelse can we do?
Maybe there is a better, warmer, nicer snow cave........Prayers are needed.

Hopefully the reason they left the sleeping bag isn't the same reason James Kim got rid of his clothes :(

Sheriff says the men probably were trying to get themselves out of the jam they got into.

I hope so too Cwiz. Sheriff say the cave has to be assumed as Kelly James' snow cave, so that means he must have been alive when he left it, right. If his buddies came up and moved him it would also mean he was alive, as if he had died there would be no sense in carrying him out of there.

They will bring everything down from the cave they found. This cave is where the cell phone pings came from. Sheriff doesn't think the climbers are going to give up, Someone had to dig the cave and someone had to go somewhere acc to the Sheriff. Releasing photos now of what they found earlier up on the mtn.

"They will not give up as the clues are too good, acc to the sheriff.

They are going to follow the footprints up the slope now to an area where they disappear. 1 1/2 hours till it starts to get dark, and some rescuers have been chopping ice up there and that is taken by media to mean making ice caves to spend the night.

:( the fact that equipment was left really bothers me and makes me think whoever left it wasn't thinking straight :(

During the most recent press conf. I heard the guy(sheriff?) say sleeping bag OR PAD, he wasn't sure which. I think that means the pad they put between them (sleeping bag/outerwear) and the snow, so it may not be as bad as we think. We don't even know if that's their stuff....

I wish they had left a note or something, if that was their (or the Kelly's) cave at one time.

**sigh**

I read on Cascadeclimbers that at least a shovel was gone.

What I meant was that a mountain climbing website is probably not used to following breaking news stories, like those on WS are, which is why they might be getting frustrated with one another. This might be one of the few live, breaking mountaineering stories that's being followed by all major news sources ever. WSers deal with it all the time. I originally made the comment about the cascadeclimbers website, so I've been reading there all day.
I really noticed that.......I had mentioned it to my family. There is alot of "gruff" people over there. Telling people what they should and shouldn't talk about.
I didn't think that was so positive for the families, and friends to read.
With respect, they should consider the families, others, guests and be full of support, and positive information. I was sad to see the arguing, and censoring talk.........much bickering about tiny, things.........
We know they are a group of great climbers ( don't ever say hiker there)....we know they mostly, or most likely should know what they are doing....it seems to be a very domineering site........" I know more then you," type of issues.
I hope they realize that all of that is so unnerving and so unnessary at a serious time as this........WS people, we " rock.".........( as Liz would say!)
