As we are all waiting on the edge of our seats for the outcome of this, have any of you been following the thread about this on cascadeclimbers.com? In their frustration with the whole situation, they have become very rude and snippy. So glad WS (at least most threads) isn't like this--then again, we are always frustrated with something or other, so I guess we're used to it.

Yes from here. I read where there were a few drags there, one of them wasa truly obnoxious.

YES--thankful for Websleuths, the place to be---:) We have great mods here, who are so vigilant and work so hard, and it keeps it to be the BEST! EVER! :)

Thanks Steve. Well so far then not a word from the other two. I'm really worried about the others. I hope they returned to the snowcave. One would think that they would have unless they had a major accident.
Do we know how long they were gone from the snow cave before the phone call?

If I was descending, I'd keep going until I hit forest... it's going to be warmer down there. I'm surprised that we haven't heard from them yet.

Just The Fact's M'aam, RIGHT? YaYa Here at WS we have learned that during a pressure point time we go to list the facts that we hear coming out. At that it becomes our job, to keep everyone abreast, especially if they are at work and can't sit glued to a live TV set or monitor!

Thanks LaMer. i'm yelling here because if i'm to work from 9:50 a.m. to 9:30 pm tomorrow with a 5 a.m. rising on Tuesday i really should go to bed. it's now when bloody time zones matter. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

but i want to know . . .

Uhoh, oh that is the pits--12 hr shift, that is inhumane, but you better sleep! :)

We were going out for while, but hub is on hold LOL

I want to hear they are found, found alive so bad. I keep thinking they have to be, they were known to be so experienced and prepared.

It's that dang weather tho that can change on a dime :(

Yeah--I guess those on other websites are amateurs at this 'following breaking news' stuff, huh? LOL

A TH on FOX just said he was up on the mtn last week and is encouraged by the foot prints found. He said they have to be pretty fresh, as the wind that was up there would have taken them all away.

I heard that also, but it is suppose to be almost 10!

They think the searchers are at the target area, and a press conference is coming up shortly!

Supposedly, there will be another press conference in a few minutes. I take this to mean that the rescuers have reached the target and know the situatio by now. From the live feeds, those rescuers were making really good time down the mountain.

Press conference has been canceled, I guess.

I'm so anxious! I wish they would tell us something. However, I bet they are being pretty careful about what they say over their radios that could be overheard/intercepted - after what happened during the Sago Mine rescue, when the wrong info got out.

I don't think that is what was being commented upon, it was the nastiness of some posters on another forum. There is always, or usually a bad egg in every basket. You should read there, and then you would understand. The one about selling products, was the worst imo. I'm sure they are not amateurs, not the great majority.

What I meant was that a mountain climbing website is probably not used to following breaking news stories, like those on WS are, which is why they might be getting frustrated with one another. This might be one of the few live, breaking mountaineering stories that's being followed by all major news sources ever. WSers deal with it all the time. I originally made the comment about the cascadeclimbers website, so I've been reading there all day.

They just went into the cave and there is equipment inside but no climbers. They think there will be clues in the cave and they still have the tracks to follow to find the men.

  • #539
Searcher reached snowcave and no people were found inside.

A few sleeping bags, an iceax, and some rope, twas all. sad

Positive is the SAR are searching the entire mountain.

Yeah. That there is still an ice axe, rope and a sleeping bag is not good news. If he tried to go down himself, he would have taken that with him.
