Although presumably police local to her would have been to her home and searched for any sign of Kyron?

Praying Kyron is found today, this is so bizarre! And scary, where are you little man???

Does anyone know if Kyrons 16 year old stepbrother has been told yet?

I was really hoping to wake up today and see that he'd been found. Please come home today, Kyron....

The teen's father also lives in the area and the two are on a Boy Scout camping trip this weekend.

It will be difficult to give him the news, Moulton said.

Sounds like they haven't told him but will when he returns from his Boy Scout camping trip.

Thanks darlin gal. I wonder how the relationship is between Kyron and his stepbrother, considering he recently moved to live with his father.

I so hoped to wake up from a sleepless night to hear that he had been found! This is such an unsual case, a nightmare that those who love him can't wake from. Take care Kyron and come home soon!

Any chance that Kyron is with his step brother and that dad on the camping trip? Was there a miscommunication about him going along on the trip?

Doesn't the father know about this ?

Not sure, but if the step brother doesn't know and if there's no way to tell him (since he's on the boy scout camping trip) then maybe the step-brother's dad doesn't know any of this is going on either... Is is possible? Isn't the step brother's dad on the camping trip, too?
I know that one would think that the adult would have checked Kyron out of school via the office...but, what if? Trying to think of a scenario that could fit and have Kyron safe.

Sorry if I missed this, but was Kyron's backpack still in his classroom at the end of the day? It was stated that he and his step-mom dropped his belongings off in his class before viewing the science projects...

I am glad someone brought up the teacher taking roll. It just doesn't make sense to me. She would have to have been aware that he had been at school that morning, his project was there. I used to teach, and it would have raised red flags to me if I knew a child had been there and then wasn't back in class after the science fair, without a parent telling me "hey, I am taking so-and-so home". This is such a scary and confusing case, I hope and pray they find Kyron today.

Wouldn't that be the most fabulous outcome ever??? All this time we're worried, and Kyron is off on a boyscout trip?

I wish for that outcome, but I don't think it's going to work out that way, sadly.

The Superintendant said that two teachers who saw him with his stepmom assumed that Kyron had left with her and were not alarmed that he was not there.

That's strange if the father doesn't know yet. I suppose if he's in the wilderness somewhere out of reach of cell phones, and nobody really knows where and how to reach him... but in my experience the scouts know about safety and tend to tell someone where they're going.

Wouldn't it be standard operating procedure for the police to check out the dad and see if he's really camping without his son ASAP? Not saying that I suspect the father of anything but supposing it was him he'd have had plenty of time to hide evidence since Friday. And he might want to know that one of his children is missing.

EDIT: Did I misunderstand? It's the teen brother who is camping with his own dad, not Kyron's dad. Never mind.

It's been stated that Kyron's belongings were still in the classroom.

One more News link:
http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/06/search_for_missing_portland_bo.html

Highlights:

1)Robb Cowie, Portland Public Schools communications director, said school officials were asked by law enforcement not to comment on any details because it might impede the investigation.

2) He said not all elementary schools use the automated call system that notifies parents when children are marked absent. He did not know whether Skyline used it.

3)The stepmother said she last saw Kyron at about 8:45 a.m. walking down the hallway toward his classroom, according to a sheriff's office news release.

4) However, the sheriff's office news release says school staff did not see Kyron after 8:45 a.m. and that he did not make it to his classroom.

And no one thought it odd that he left school but forgot his backpack?

I agree it seems a bit odd to me that the pair hadn't been contacted. But Kyron isn't his child- this is a previous husband of Kyron's stepmom.

1. child was seen at school by staff with a parent during science fair
2. child's backpack was at school, as was his project
3. when bell rang, his belongings were in class but child was not in class
4. no one knows who took child from school or that he, in fact, left school

None of this adds up. If you saw the kid at the science fair, you saw his backpack on his hook, and his project was there, wouldn't the next logical step when he didn't turn back up for class to go ask other teachers "hey, is Kyron in here?" on the assumption he was just lollygagging? If you knew the child was there that morning, his things were still there, and the child isn't in his seat, I am having a hard time accepting the whole "we thought he left with stepmom" story. What led them to believe that? Covering their behinds. MOO. None of this makes sense.
