I noticed a place called the Pumpkin Patch and Trees on google Earth, I don't know the name of the road it was on. I only mention it, because here in FL, groves are a common place to put bodies. I know, gross, but they aren't found very soon. There is lots of trees and foliage to hid a body and it takes awhile before anyone runs across the bodies. I really don't mean to dash anyone's hope of him coming home alive, I just wanted to point it out.

Could my child be kidnapped? How safe is my school? Which doors are locked? What if my child wandered off from summer camp; would anyone notice? Is it ever OK for a kid to play outside alone?

Never mind that stereotypical kidnappings in this country are extraordinarily rare. About 115 kids each year are kidnapped by strangers or near-strangers, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Far more common in the world of missing children are cases involving custody disputes or brief wanderings where no harm is done.

But local stories about possible abductions go national in a heartbeat now, and each instance is uniquely riveting. Partly it's the thought of anything bad happening to a small smiling boy like Kyron

It seems logical to me working on the theory Kyron wandered off, LE would ask the parents where his favorite places were, what did he enjoy, where did he like to go, etc. So that's what I take from the comment about the father's "requests" to search various places.

I also don't find it odd there have been people interviewed "multiple" times. I'm not sure it means they are actually a suspects but LE & Kyron's family are desperate for answers. Sometimes it's about the questions you ask. It might jog someone's memory & they'll find a new clue.

I have no idea what happened to Kyron. I'm still praying for miracle.

(apologies if I'm simply repeating someone else's opinion here)

Hi Mandy, Yes, it is called profiling the victim which the FBI always does in a case like this. It's equally important as profiling the perp from what I've learned.

i think they should completely reconstruct the scene, especially who was parked where and see if that stirs up some memories of something someone might have seen. Get all those people back out there and in the places they were during the tiny window of opportunity this child went missing.

"Please search your properties, your cars your outbuildings, your sheds. Also check with your neighbors and friends who may be on vacation or may need assistance to search their property."

I found this entire statement very weird.
At the time they came out with this statement, we were all being told by LE that the think this is an "isolated" case, meaning to me anyway that they do not suspect someone who has done this sort of thing before; abducted a child. And there was a this point no evidence whatsoever that Kyron was abducted, yet they are asking people to search their cars, outbuildings and sheds?

This is Oregon folks, and area's like where Kyron's school is located surrounded by forest and heavy green growth and wild himalayan blackberries are EVERYWHERE. This state grows trees for a living, like Iowa grows corn. With a short drive in just about any direction you can be in a forest so dark it looks like night time. If Kyron WAS abducted, and heaven forbid murdered, there would be little reason to keep his body on your property. Who ever took him, if he was abducted, had a whole long time before he was even reported missing to dispose of a body. (And God I'm praying he's still alive somewhere, because it is darn easy to get lost in those forests too!)

So, I keep asking myself, why are they searching so near and why looking in the neighbors' cars, sheds, etc.? That statement made no sense to me and makes less the more I think about it. Anyone else have an idea what would cause LE to say that? And if your friend or neighbor was "on vacation" well, then they couldn't have taken Kyron, so why search their properties? Do we think they suspect someone from the neighborhood?

I am with you that this particular statement stuck out to me.

It made me wonder if the FBI profiler believes that the abductor is someone who lives with his/her elderly parents.

Are they asking people to look in these types of places in case the abductor has taken advantage of either a) their parents' inability to access a remote place on their own property, like a barn or shed, OR b) their parents being out of town?

I agree with a poster from about 2 threads ago who said this could be a kidnap but not necessarily for ransom. I wonder if Kaine has had to fire anyone recently. Or maybe not so recently. Someone who was laid off when the economy started to tank may be now out of money, still out of work, and had to move back in with his/her parents. Maybe has suffered a broken relationship due to financial stress. It may seem like Kaine and Terri, regardless of how "rich" they truly are, have everything s/he wants.

I can't believe I actually just typed that. It sounds like a cheesy movie plot. But honestly, I'm grasping at straws here.

I will hold my tongue on the SM's body language at the press conference, but I will say it was very very comforting even to me, to see the step dad and the bio dad hug like they did.

me too!

and don't forget, stepdad is LE from Medford and bio-mom's dear hubby.

anyway, IMO, I think this family is okay ... so far ... so good ...
Kyron can be proud of how they all did today under all this awfulness.

Such a heartbreaking video of the family. So very difficult to watch their pain. Heart wrenching. :(

Trying to focus on this Sauvie Island. I am thinking the quickest way to get from the school to a body of water near Sauvie Island, would be NW Skyline Blvd to NW Newberry Road, to NW St. Helens road where you would cross the bridge to Sauvie Island? I'm not from around there, so just guessing. And I wonder how long that drive would take. Is it about 3.5 miles away?
thnx for any help.

I don't know what is possible and what is not possible anymore in this case. I just hope and pray he is found safe and very soon.

ANYTHING is possible with kids, you just never know what they will do. Many years ago, my then hubby and I were going to run to the store, about 5 miles away. We left our older boy in charge of his brother. When we got to the store, there was our older son on his bike, he took a shortcut and beat us there. I was horrified, I just know he wasn't riding carefully because he was trying to beat us and it scared me so bad.

I feel that 115 kids kidnapped a year are a lot. And we don't know with the throw away kids how many of them are kidnapped at some point.

Theoretically, that's about 2 kids per state a year ( I know that it's not) Just putting it into perspective. I think that's a lot.

I have been following this since Sunday - I have nothing to add except, add me to the list of those who think LE hasn't the faintest idea as to what happened to him. I can't be convinced otherwise - all of the contradictions (IE saying it is an isolated incident but then checking people's houses), silence and confusion just scream it to me. And it is horrible, horrible, horrible.

:( :( :(

Absolutely!!!

The husband made an interesting comment:

"The bus driver immediately called the school which responded that his teacher had not seen him all day in class, at which point we notified police in partnership with the school."

Could this imply there would be two 911 calls? :waitasec:

I remember that early articles said the school called the non-emergency police number, not 911.

I can't recall at the moment if the stepmom called 911, or if the school said they'd handle it.

BBM. For God's sake, it's been 8 days today. How long do they think a little guy like that can live IF he's out where they're searching?

I'm glad to hear their morale is high, but I don't understand WHY it would be. Doesn't day 8 mean anything to these people?

Time is sure running out.

Is that a church across the street from the school? what do we know about it? does it have meeting like AA or anything like that there? was anything going on there friday morning?

  • #314
I think there was no 911 call. Stepmom called the school when Kyron wasn't on the bus. School did a quick search of the school, and then called the non-emergency police number.

He was supposed to be dropped off at the school bus stop near his house at about 3:45 p.m. When he didn't show up, Moulton Horman called the school, deputies said.

School administrators conducted a quick search of the school, deputies said, and they called the non-emergency dispatch line to report Kyron as missing.

That makes sense. Stepmom probably waited on the line while they went to check his classroom, and they came back and said they would call LE.

dont give up hope....remember the case of the little boy who was taken after his family was tied up...in CA...he was missing for two weeks.....he was found alive in mexico :)

the way the LE is handling this with not giving to much info.....reminds me of that case

I agree, i have always looked at those numbers and been amazed that "rare" is used in the same sentence. I also believe that there are too many under 18 "runaway" cases that are just shrugged off and that kidnapping cases are actually higher. Maybe it is a young boy, my age at the time, in my community was kidnapped and murdered when I was growing up has made these cases stand out to me, but I am always having to tell my friends that it happened ALOT more than just the occasional case that makes the national news.

I wonder if they have reviewed the video tape of the bus. Of it stopping, talking to SM, calling the school, etc.

do all school buses have cameras in them?

Has anyone heard anything of what's going on with this search right now?

Someone posted earlier about alerting the FBI to a youtube video. I can't remember where the post was, or who posted it,but I am curious as to what that video was about and what it had to do with Kyron? I think it was either darlin gal or mamaeb who posted it.

I didn't know that. I would not have ever thought that because citrus trees are perennials [vs. annuals like strawberries] and a long-term investment. Florida has had ruinous citrus canker outbreaks and fruit flies, so I would have thought the farmers would have been checking their groves closely all year around.
