From what we have been told about Kyron, he reminds me of the kind of kid that I was at that age. I was somewhat quiet but had friends, and was the curious type but was not adventurous.

Someone earlier mentioned they asked their grandson if he would ever leave school while he was there and his eyes became very wide and said he would get in trouble for that. At that age I would have given the same reaction. Think back when you were 7 - the world was no bigger than your town and your parents and teachers were the "rulers". I would never dare go against the rules as it was "bad" and I would get in a lot of trouble. There would have been nothing to lure me away from the school building during a school day, as it would have made me feel very guilty and wrong and for good reason. It also would be scary, as it was outside the norm.

My point being, I don't think he would leave the comforts and rules of school to go looking for a frog, or something equally innocent and silly. If he actually did go to the forest of his own accord, it was because he was trying to run away from someone or something and that was the only direction he could go. I live near forests and they are creepy places, and I have always felt that way about them. They are no where near the size of the forests in Oregon, so I could only imagine the type of "unknown" scariness they instill upon the kids there.

What do I think happened? At this point, an alien abduction sounds as plausible as anything.

They arrived sometime after the school opened about 8 a.m., went to his classroom, dropped off his coat and backpack and he showed his stepmother his exhibit, "The Red-Eyed Tree Frog." Horman, who has raised Kyron since he was an infant, snapped a picture of him standing in front of it that she later posted on her Facebook page. It shows a bespectacled and beaming short-haired boy wearing a blue "CSI" T-shirt in front of an exhibit with photos of bug-eyed frogs, an anatomical drawing of the creature and other artwork. "He was so excited about his science project," said Carol Moulton, Horman's mother and Kyron's grandmother. "They had worked on it together. He was anxious to take it to school and show it off." There are about 300 students at Skyline Elementary, and all of them were invited to contribute to the fair. [12]

I found a few commonly asked questions answered in this article: http://newsfeedresearcher.com/data/articles_n24/schools-kyron-portland.html

I hope this helps someone else, as well.

Green: Answer to when school opened for the day
Pink: Answer to rather or not he dropped off his coat and bookbag
Light Blue: Anwers who assisted him in Science Project
Gray: Answer two questions I heard, 1. size of the school student wise and
2. could other classrooms have made projects as well.

Portland Public Schools spokesman Matt Shelby said two teachers saw Kyron with his stepmother and thought the two left school together. He said it was common for parents to pick up kids this way, so no suspicions were raised.

They thought his step mom picked him up?

I wonder if this was at the south entrance?
I take that to mean that since they saw them arrive together, they assumed they left together. This is why it didn't raise any red flags when he was not in class.

I think overall this was just an atypical school day. Things that would normally raise a red flag apparently went unnoticed because things were not like the average school day.

How come no poster of a suspect????That is very unusual.
I think someone watched SM leave. All those kids and no composite ?

Search teams began combing the steep grassy hillside along US 30 and the rail line beside it.

I was looking at puf's map (link in my sig) to see the lay of the land right there. I see another quarry that I didn't remember before.
puf's put the original 2-mile search radius flag smack in the middle of it. I didn't think much of it earlier, but now that the search has gone over to Sauvie, this quarry is directly in line with a route to the bridge (the one and only way on/off the island).

Hwy 30, all along the river (save the small community of Linnton) is light industrial, with petroleum tank farms and other smelly things. No shortage of creepy places, some perhaps minimally staffed or closed part time of late.

I confess that I don't know much about the interior of a Mustang. I've looked through about 100 pages of google images and found exactly two that appear to show a trunk that's accessible from the split back seat that's folded down to gain access to the trunk. That said, consider this..... (I'm not going to bash SM, honest)

I know it's a shot in the dark and probably insane....

Let's assume that Kyron is crazy about his SM and that big ole beaming smile in the project picture was aimed at his SM because she was there and he was thrilled. Maybe he didn't want SM to leave? He's seven, you know, and he's so tiny...and he wears what appears to be thick glasses. Kids can be brutal and maybe Kyron gets picked on some?

So anyway, let's speculate that Kyron didn't want SM to leave. She scoots him off in the direction of his classroom, he protests a little, but goes. But let's say SM heads off in the opposite direction and instead of going to his classroom, Kyron keeps going. But where was he headed?

Maybe SM got distracted as she was leaving the school. I've read she used to work at Skyline so she would know those present at the school. All she'd have to do is stop to talk to someone to create that window Kyron needed. For what.....

Is the "south door" at the school the one that opens to the parking lot? Maybe Kyron, intent on not remaining at school without his SM, circled around trying to get to the parking lot and get into SM's car before she left? Think of the possibilities that could have occured if he did manage to get into her car without her knowledge. If he got into that car without anyone's knowledge, and then got out of it somewhere while she was running errands, God only knows where he is.

I know...it's crazy....but so is all the "no comment" and the fact that this child is gone, they seem to be shying away from a criminal act/abduction, and they label it an isolated incident. You can't label it an isolated incident unless you know what the heck happened IMO. And personally, I find the hit and miss search pattern a little strange.

I'm so frustrated with the lack of information that this seems at least as likely as aliens....and I'm not trying to be funny. It's not funny, at all.

If he didn't want to go to class and ducked out the South door, maybe he went to her car, maybe he knew she wouldn't let him come home so he hid...maybe in the trunk of her car!
I so hope the trunk of her car has been checked!

Some of the land immediately adjacent to the school is not in Forest Park, but this will give you an idea of how big an area it is. IE huge.

"Forest Park now includes over 5,100 wooded acres making it the largest, forested natural area within city limits in the United States."

Seems to me this is saying the project was set up the day before.

Ok, trying to understnad that chart.

My son is 7, born in October. He is 53" tall and is 94lbs.

I try to follow the chart and it takes me to a different age group?
your son would over the 100th percentile for both height and weight.

Were the kids supposed to take their science projects home Friday when school was out? If he couldn't take it on the bus in the morning, how was he supposed to take it home on the bus?

way way back at the beginning of all this there was mention of ADHD i am reluctant to post anymore due to the "gray area" perspectives

I was a child with severe ADHD (literally never sat in my seat in class. Ever.) and never would have wandered away, especially from school. MOO

I have been following this as best I could. The board is moving so fast. I have one question and one opinion. I have seen them with dogs, I suspect they are search dogs. Do they also use cadaver dogs along with the search dogs? I watched the video of the family again, SM looks irritated, from some of her expressions I would say Kyron has wondered off before and this whole thing is annoying her. I would say looking at her she is not attached to Kyron even if she did raise him from a baby. I felt so sorry for the BM, this is tearing her apart. She kept trying to pull away from Terri but Terri held on tight and kept pulling her towards her to make it look like they are close. mhoo

as far as the last person to say they saw him at 9am.... I believe it was a child who was last to report seeing him. I think this child gave them good info, even if they were not aware they had. So LE asked them to stay quiet about it.

But, unfortunately, I think this is also the boy who's grandma allowed him to speak.
He mentioned to media that Kyron went to go look at an electricity experiment.. I hope/assume he may also have given more info about where kyron walked after that, who was there, who else heard, maybe another little piece of info kyron said.

I think because it was a child, like others said, LE wont release info.

Just noticed this info was from grandma, SM's mom. This would be info from SM, right? Unless grandma was there....don't know if she was...

we have 2 contradictory statements about Kyron.

1. A child who says that the sub asked the regular teacher where Kyron was. The teacher answered that he was getting a drink of water or whatever.

2. A comment in a news article that said SM had an appt (with Kyron?)

Both cannot be true. Is either true?

Being a former teacher, it is so hard to fathom that a teacher wouldn't check up on the whereabouts of a child, especially on a day as crazy as that one must have been.

Not casting blame on anyone. Just flummoxed.

I could be wrong, but it looks like the windows in the classrooms are rather high and that the shades are closed to a large extent. This video shows Kyron's classroom and the one next door through a connecting door. Maybe since the chairs are up on the desk it's just that shades are pulled at the end of the day. If, however, any of you also think the windows are sort of high, maybe it's hard to see someone on the ground or getting into a car when you're sitting. I'd like to check this out better, but I had to post it when I saw it.

Another thought --- if Kyron was proud of his science project, is it possible that others doing reptile or amphibian projects were envious and pulled a prank on Kyron that went wrong? LE said they were done interviewing all students. Maybe they finally got part of the true story or someone encouraging him to go on a "wild goose chase" or something?

Wow, that is immense! So, there's no doubt that Kyron could have wandered in any direction for miles and miles which makes finding him, if indeed he wandered off, an enormous task. I still wonder if any dogs picked up his scent, or if due to the rain, the scent would have been washed away? I'm still hoping he went out to find something to add to his project and got turned around and lost...same exact thing that happened to Nadia. He could easily have traveled 2-5+ miles each day, especially the first day before he got cold and hungry. Even if he got three miles the first day, then three further on from that point the second...that's still an insane amount of area to try to find a young boy in.

Does anyone know where Kyron had the picture of him taken with the Christmas sign? I saw that LE is searching a pumpkin patch but on Sauvie Island, but I also saw one called Plumper Pumpkin Patch and Tree Farm. It looks like the place Kyron had his picture taken. I looked at the web site it is a really cool place, maybe for field trips for the kids.....
