[snipped...]The stepmother said she last saw Kyron at about 8:45 a.m. walking down the hallway toward his classroom, according to a sheriff's office news release.

It was not clear, however, whether Kyron, like every other student in the school, then participated in a classroom-to-classroom inspection of other science projects.

Parent-led groups of about four students walked among the classrooms, said Gina Zimmerman, president of the Skyline PTA.

"You were supposed to stay with your group," Zimmerman said. "I don't know what group he was in."

However, the sheriff's office news release says school staff did not see Kyron after 8:45 a.m. and that he did not make it to his classroom.

Terri Horman called 9-1-1 about 3:45 p.m. Friday to report Kyron missing after he failed to return home at his usual time on the school bus.

Zimmerman could not believe Kyron would have just walked off the school grounds on his own.

"He's not the type of child who would just go out of school and go wandering around," said Zimmerman, whose 8-year-old daughter, Madi, is in Kyron's class and has known the boy for three years.

"He's just a timid, sweet boy."

Complete story here

I read that, but the teachers said the opposite...
Sheriff's Capt. Jason Gates said teachers described Kyron as "an energetic student, a very social kid who loves to play soccer and build model cars with his dad." Gates said deputies have been working with Kyron's family and have received "a ton of information from them that helps us very much."

Which made me wonder,is he timid or energetic and social?

 WOW - maybe this is why everything is a little hushed.

Umm Just a question. Do we know when the reports were made, not just when something "apparently" happend?

Secondly, What is the incident? That isn't listed either. What it all means is anyones guess unless we can get someone to decode the incident numbers and verify when they were actually made?

The local news just showed TH's facebook page talking about the community response..

Interesting they would do that..

I've noticed them doing this more lately. With Ethan Stacy, they had Stephanie and Nathan's wedding website up very quickly. Along with her facebook... that is like the first thing they do now. It gives them something when there isn't much news I guess. :waitasec:

Well, LE was called to that school for an incident the week before. So, something happened. We don't know what. But, this is a very small rural school and they don't even have a call system when kids are out.
But, something went down the week before that involved LE.

So, my  was because this goes against what we have heard of this school so far right?
Maybe the incident was realated / maybe not.

ETA: Let's just say this was related (not that is was, let's just say) then that may be what the SM means about the media not knowing what they are talking about. It would also explain why LE would act like they may know what might have happened.

Any thoughts/ideas on what type of incident the police would be called to respond to at an elementary school? TIA!

Maybe he is energetic and social with people... but timid about breaking the rules and/or venturing off into a forest?

Thanks for the input Kimberly. Our minds need to stay open fer sure.
Yeah we dont know but LE knows what it is. I dunno is it a crime incident?, I could of missed the information cause I just looked quickly or could it be an accident/fender bender in the parking lot where someone left the scene and two people called it in. The times are very close together?

custody dispute is my first thought. I've seen it at a preschool.

Yep,could be,I was just thinking of Nadia, you never know what will come into a child's head. But,I think if he had been on his own, they would have already found him, though.

In the background of that presser, one of the reporters said they had only been looking at a two mile radius. If he was last seen at 8:45 and had till 3:45,that's a long time for whatever happened. But as usual media has two different stories, one he was last seen by stepmother at 8:45 and the other by a student later in the morning.

Yep ITA one parent trys to pick up a child and the other parent has custody, another thing could be fender bender in the parking lot, could be a fight with two older students...could be many things I guess.

Can someone who knows how to do tags, please do a couple? I would but I don't know how to. TIA

I keep forgetting about the older students. When I think of a 7 year old's school. I think elem - no one over like 10 or so.
So, I guess yeah, a fight between older kids could need LE.

I won't say much, but it seems to me LE is avoiding saying it was a kidnapping and they also sounded like they had almost narrowed down focus of people to very few. Also the fact that they are saying school is on and all will be normal, per se, makes me think they are pretty darned sure there is not a perv out there or if he is, he won't be by tomorrow. No LE could be that foolish, to risk all these kids, lawsuits, etc, if something else happened tomorrow. JMO
I personally would have liked to hear parents thank searchers or something...that is pretty usual. Again, JMO.

Deputies launched their search at about 5:45 p.m. -- nearly nine hours after the boy was last seen. Since then, a number of local, state and federal police agencies have joined the search.

That puts Kyron last being seen at at 8:45 am so where are they getting late morning. I sure hope LE has the correct time because the reporting is a mess. Two different times from the same article.

I think that SpotCrime thing is listing crimes "near" that address, isn't it? Well maybe not, since it does say "school incident". Hmmm. I know at our elementary school, they have gone into lock down mode if there is an incident like burglary going on near the school. They use the automatic call system to notify parents.

I would never ask the parents of a missing child to speak if they are not ready to. JMO

I don't think anything is "normal" or "usual" when a child is missing.

We went through months of discussion in the Somer Thompson case about how the mom did not act right. She was bashed and blamed and made fun of from everything from how she cried, lack of tears, how she sang at the vigils, what she wore to the funeral...it went on and on. Look how that turned out. The poor woman had NOTHING to do with Somer's murder. So, a lesson could be learned from that. IMO

I can state several cases where the parents were bashed and blamed for months and had NOTHING to do with it. So, I try not to do that unless there is pretty good reason given by LE.

Have there been any public pleads from/by the parents? I haven't been able to locate any - perhaps a local has seen them televised there...TIA

Have we confirmed that Desiree Davidson Young is in fact Kyron's bio mom? If so can someone provide me that link
