Found Deceased OR - Matthew Lang, 33, Bend, 27 Oct 2020 *car found badly crashed*

Regarding how long the vehicle was there at crash scene...

Matthew left his residence between 7-8pm on October 26 and his vehicle was discovered crashed the next day by authorities on October 27.

so less than a day
Regarding how long the vehicle was there at the crash scene... According to the Oregon State Police authorities responded to the crash scene at approximately 5:30 pm. Oregon Highway 62 (Crater Lake Highway) maintained by Oregon Department of Transportation is classified as a Statewide Expressway, serving north-south access through Medford, linking the city with destinations to the north and east. The Highway 62/I-5 interchange is a critical connection for the I-5 corridor. (From Medford Transportation System Plan pages 3.3, 3.2) Highway 62 has a high volume of traffic as well as a high volume of vehicle crashes and there have been many crashes in the same area as Matthew's crashed vehicle was discovered. From the photos of the crash scene it appears that Matthew's vehicle is visible from the highway. Here in Oregon it is still daylight at 5:30 pm... It just seems to this writer that given the high volume of traffic during daylight hours any crash visible to passers-by would've been reported soon after the crash and had Matthew's vehicle crashed during the night then it would've been reported soon after daylight made the crash visible to passers-by and that it wouldn't have taken all day for someone to report the crash.

Thanks so much. I overlooked that. I wonder where he was headed...Medford or beyond?
From the aerial photo of Highway 62 (Crater Lake Highway) with the three yellow pins: One pin is labeled "car found" and one pin is labeled "sign" and the third pin is a distance away labeled "MM 37" depicting the Mile Marker. Highway 62 is technically an east-west highway (even numbered) therefore traveling directionally north (towards Bend direction) is appropriate. However, traveling directionally north in the northbound lane is impossible. The photo depicting where the vehicle tires first left the roadway shows the vehicle leaving the road on the left (driver's) side of the road indicating that the vehicle had crossed the oncoming lane and then left the road. It appears to this writer that the vehicle was traveling directionally north (away from the Medford area/ towards the Bend area) and crossed Peyton Bridge then veered off the road and crashed on the first corner past Peyton Bridge. It is approximately two hours driving from Bend to the crash scene. Matthew is said to have departed Bend between approximately 7 - 8 pm the night before his vehicle was discovered crashed the next day at approximately 5:30 pm which leaves about a 21-ish hour window of time or less depending on what time the crash was reported and how soon after the crash that the crash was reported. Regardless of what transpired during the time that Matthew and his vehicle were unaccounted for the vehicle was traveling away from Medford area north towards Bend area so it seems that the vehicle was returning from whence it came after having traveled at least to beyond the site where the vehicle crashed.

Los
This does make it sound like he was able to get out of the vehicle and walk away, but he had to have been pretty banged up by the looks of that vehicle.

I wonder what's down the hill from the crash site? Just woods? Could he have been attacked by an animal, maybe a bear, cougar, or wolf?
Lost Creek Lake is directly down hill from the crash site and very close.

There does not appear to be any recent updates from local LE or media?

The family of the missing person may have to start doing public records requests from both Jackson and Deschutes to get more answers...IMO

It’s hard to believe he hasn’t been found ... not a trace of him. I wonder if it’s possible that he was severely injured and taken to hospital without identification... and maybe his injuries include a head injury that precludes him from providing his name. I’m sure the family has checked all the local hospitals for unidentified patients ... but just an idea. Moo

Heartbreaking. :( Matthews body was found by SAR Tuesday afternoon according to his mother. She said she won’t give more details because Matthew was a very private person and because there is still a Major Crimes investigation going on. She praised the detective for being kind, sincere and a true man of integrity.

Help us find Matthew Lang

Because of her wording, I’m wondering if foul play is suspected.
