Mekenna Reiley, 40, was last seen naked, without a phone, driving alone to a construction site early morning April 5, pleading for help and claiming that she was not safe, the Daily Local News reported.

Police sent her home, which was located a few miles away, after they determined that she was sober and capable of driving.

Though surveillance footage showed Reiley driving away from the construction site that day, no one has seen her since.
mmmm there's a lot wrong here. The most common reasons are 1) under the influence of substances 2)some sort of psychosis. 3) genuinely in trouble isn't very common. It's got to be 1 or or 2 or both, IMO. Either way it doesn't bode well that it's been this long and she's not found

Noting:
  • Reiley had previously told her family that she felt unsafe living on a farm in Oregon, but refused to tell them why she felt so.
  • Reiley had obtained a restraining order with a no-contact clause against her boyfriend, with whom she lived until a month before her disappearance.
  • Reiley’s sister noted that Reiley appeared to have left her home in a hurry, without her keys, car, purse and dog. There was also $700 missing from her purse, according to her family.
  • “Things were just in disarray. There’s groceries left out, her purse was in the car.”
  • A trash bag filled with Reiley’s clothes and a beer can was found a few miles from her home.

  • The family says that a photo shows an unidentified man who tried to access her storage unit in Phoenix, Oregon, sometime after she disappeared.
  • The image was captured by a keypad camera at Reiley’s storage unit.
  • Investigators told the family that Reiley appeared to have either been “roofied” or on “a lot of acid” when law enforcement arrived at the construction site.
  • When she vanished, Reiley had an Arkansas-bound plane ticket and plans to visit a friend.
  • Reiley was last heard from when she arrived home around 10:30 p.m. on April 5, Stepp said – when neighbors told police they “heard two car doors closed.”
  • However, she should have been arriving home alone after a deputy responded to the work site and let her drive off on her own, Stepp said.
  • Reiley’s former boyfriend has been ruled out as a suspect after passing a polygraph.

Missing Mekenna Reiley, a 40-year-old Oregon speech teacher, was last seen in April disoriented and naked at a rural construction site according to her family, which suspects foul play and is asking for anyone who knows anything to speak with authorities.

Hours before she vanished, a work crew found her confused at their jobsite in Blue River, about 150 miles south of Portland, her sister, Bevin Stepp, who lives in Pennsylvania, told Fox News Digital.

“She told the police she was scared of something,” she said. “She said she couldn’t go home, she had nowhere safe to go…so she drove there.”

[...]

Reiley, originally from Pennsylvania and the granddaughter of longtime former GOP State Rep. Merle Phillips, told relatives she wanted to move back because “she didn’t feel safe out there,” her sister said.

A body has been found in the Blue River Reservoir east of Eugene, Oregon, amid a months-long search for a missing woman named Mekenna Reiley, who vanished under suspicious circumstances after police were called to a construction site near her home where workers say she arrived naked, disoriented and afraid.

Reiley, a 40-year-old speech teacher, has not been seen or heard from since April. Her keys, purse and phone were discovered at her home in Blue River.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office announced the grim discovery Sunday but said the remains had been recovered a day earlier. Authorities have not yet publicly identified the body or revealed a cause of death. A death investigation is underway.

While an official identification has not been made, Scott McKee, the private investigator hired by Reiley's family, told Fox News Digital that "it seems all indications are that it is her."

Confirmed deceased.

On Saturday, August 12, a body was found in Blue River Reservoir. LCSO officials confirmed on Tuesday, August 15 that it was Reiley, who had drowned in the reservoir. Although the LCSO said there were no indications of foul play, they are continuing to investigate any leads related to Reiley’s disappearance.

If you recall, it was said Mekenna may have been suffering from a mental health crisis.

One year after her body was found by kayakers in an Oregon reservoir, the Cumberland County native’s death investigation is still open.
"The deputies had a conversation with her face to face and ultimately she did not meet the required legal requirement for them to be able to lawfully force a mental evaluation on her so ultimately they ended up departing," Sgt. Speldrich explained in 2023.

This lengthy article is about 5 people who are still missing, or who have been found deceased, within an 85-mile radius in Lane County, Oregon. "Within an 85-mile radius, there are at least five open investigations, with shattered families still searching for the answers. At the most recent count, 35 people are missing — one of the largest numbers in the state."

The article includes an interview with a sergeant in the Lane County Sheriff's Office, who discusses the chronically underfunded and undermanned department, and the difficulties of searching in the treacherous geography of the area.

The tragic cases of Mekenna Reiley and Chase Robertson add to the mystery.

Mekenna’s body was found in Blue River in August 2023, four months after she was reported missing. The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a drowning with no signs of foul play, though her family rejected this conclusion.

"I knew my sister did not do this to herself, and she's been made to look like an addict or someone having a mental health crisis," said her sister, Bevin Stepp, at the time.

"I don’t feel relief that that happened to her, but I feel relief that we’ve been fighting for her, and it wasn’t all in vain."

Private investigator Scott McKee, hired by the family, accused police of making grave mistakes in keeping Mekenna safe after she was seen “naked and frightened” at a construction site on April 5, 2023.

"The police did not take action where I think it was clear she was a danger to herself. She was disoriented; something was wrong," McKee said.
