Melissa Marie Jubane, 32, was reported missing after she did not show up for work as a nurse at the Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, according to Beaverton police.

Investigators describe Jubane as 5’2” and 120 pounds.

The court records are sealed, so I don't think we're going to see any updates for a while. He does have a status hearing this month, however.

The hearing is scheduled for Feb. 24, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at the Washington County Courthouse, located at 145 NE 2nd Avenue.

The man accused of killing a Beaverton nurse in September 2024 appeared in court early Monday afternoon for a procedural status hearing in the case.

His next procedural court appearance is set for mid-March. His trial is not expected to begin until September 9, 2025.

Ya know... I kept thinking about the info in my post above this one, about how its "a fairly complicated" (case) and a "lot" of new evidence. If this was a crime of opportunity you'd think it would be pretty much cut and dried, and not complicated. I'd also think there wouldn't be "a lot" of evidence and they'd have had it all last September.

But a lot of new evi AND fairly complicated? Was this planned? Were there others involved not necessarily directly, but someone part of what happened? They were neighbors, after all, so had to know each other, even if just a little bit.

Trial might be delayed to '26 now. Judge reserved 2 trial dates today. Looks like it was a well planned crime and possibly Bryce made precise decisions due to an obsession which was not returned by the victim. JMO RIP Melissa.

Scholl noted that he has another murder trial in Coos County to prepare for, and that the defense needs to retain expert witnesses who can evaluate part of the state’s case.

Prosecutors opposed the motion to push back the case, but Washington County Circuit Judge Rebecca Guptill found the defense motion reasonable during a March 10 status hearing. She ordered the trial to be set over some 200 days — moving the date from Sept. 9 to March 31, 2026.

Schubert's attorneys, Greg Scholl and Shelley Aschenbrenner, filed a motion in Feb. 26 to push back the trial. Scholl, in the motion, described the investigation into Jubane's death as "ongoing and very active."

However, Scholl said he is scheduled for a multiple homicide trial in Coos County, scheduled to start this August, which would conflict with Schubert's trial. He also pointed to the state's shortage of qualified defense attorneys, noting that he and his team are appointed to 35 homicides in 10 different counties.

Excerpt from the article below answered my question for me. Digital discovery? I wonder what it is they have? And on more than 1 topic? I really wish they'd throw a bone to this dog! Inquiring minds want to know!

“Discovery is voluminous and complicated and involves large amounts of digital discovery,” Scholl wrote in the document. “The defense is engaged in ongoing discussions with the prosecution in this case on more than one topic.”

He added, “The investigation into the death of Melissa Jubane is ongoing and is very active. We expect we will receive more information as that investigation continues.”
