Would this be considered Finicum's Wake?
I am just thinking a candlelight vigil and prayer. The wake to me would be when they release his body. IMO

I groaned out loud for your pun, Izzy.

Izzy was referencing James Joyce's 'Finnegan's Wake'.

In all seriousness, I hope those fools holding out will come to their senses or, more likely, be talked down by more rational voices.

Whichever of the LE in the presser said it today is correct: no more blood needs to be shed.

On the other hand, though, those intent on committing suicide by cop in the hope of martyrdom (as I believe Finicum did) have nothing to gain by being talked down and everything to win (in their minds) by forcing the situation as Finicum did.

Lose-lose situation all around.

I laughed so loud I frightened the cat.

Thank you.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the holdouts believe that Ammon Bundy's statement that they should go home is a government trick.

Nor would I be surprised if it turns out the statement is some kind of code for them to take a particular action.

We shall see.

Both thoughts had crossed my mind. Now I'm trying to interpret "Hug your families." Hmmmmmm.

Brilliant!! I'm sooooo irritated at myself for betraying my Irish punster father and not thinking of it first, :pullhair: but I yield to the master! :hilarious:

Just trying to understand...why would anyone follow Cliven Bundy? Why? He's not articulate or educated in the least. I truly don't understand...

Three arrested at refuge...turned themselves in. Five of the eight still at refuge were let go. Is it over?

O/T From the article:

At approximately 3:30 p.m. PT, the FBI made probable cause arrests of Duane Leo Ehmer, 45, of Irrigon, Ore.,

Irrigon, Oregon? Irrigon, Oregon?

How much fun would it be going through life answering the question "where are you from?' with "Irrigon, Oregon?"

A high-speed getaway attempt and a reach for the waistband are said to have prompted police SWAT team members to open fire on a group of leaders of the Oregon armed occupiers.

A law enforcement official described the dramatic showdown that occurred Tuesday night on a desolate stretch of U.S. 395, some distance away from the federal wildlife refuge where the group took over federal buildings nearly a month ago.

Maybe the writer, Jon Krakauer will investigate this cluster and write about it.

I'm glad to hear that the shooting was caught on camera. Not that the followers will believe the footage, but having a record is important.

The shooting was captured on camera by the SWAT team. FBI and Oregon police officials are discussing possibly releasing the video, in part to counter claims by supporters that Finicum was gunned down while trying to surrender.

OT: Irrigon, Oregon is even worse than Drain and Boring...maybe. But at least it has a slight Dr. Seussian ring to it. :D

When LE released the tape of Sandra Bland's traffic stop ( died in Texas jail by ' suicide' ) it raised more questions than answers because the film was heavily edited and spliced together with lots of missing time segments. I hope they do not release a video that is a clear botch job if they release it at all.
