ONTARIO, Ore. (AP) - A woman has been convicted of murder by abuse in the death of her 3-year-old stepson.
Marisol Sedano-Ruiz, 20, now faces life in prison with a minimum of 25 years under Oregon mandatory sentencing law.
Malheur County Circuit Judge J. Burdette Pratt convicted Sedano-Ruiz on Tuesday in the death of Roberto Lee Ruiz.
Sedano-Ruiz also was convicted of felony criminal mistreatment for causing physical injury to the boy.
Sedano-Ruiz, who waived her right to a jury trial, rejected a manslaughter plea bargain offered by prosecutors.
