The following is an update on our missing son/brother/uncle, Shane Sprenger from Vida, OR.

... the accounts of what happened are inconsistent at best. His disappearance is being regarded as under suspicion by law enforcement. He was the hardest worker we’ve ever known and there is no way he was not planning on returning to the job site. His case remains open and active and while there is not a lot of new information in the case, we are hopeful. A new investigator took over the case this summer and the case is being looked at with a fresh set of eyes, progress is being made by following up on any leads and re-reviewing the details.

We would like to ask the community for help. Please remain vigilant, and keep your eyes open for anything out of the ordinary, no matter how small, especially in the areas that his cell phone traveled on the night of and the morning after his disappearance, from Mill Creek Road near the Blue River Reservoir to the areas surrounding his old property near MP 43 off Hwy 126. His home at this location burned down in the Holiday Farm Fire, he was living just down the river on a new property where he had planned to build his new home.

On Friday, Speldrich said, “We don't have any reason to believe that there is foul play involved, but we also don't have reason to rule it out at this point."

He says they are still investigating the potential of foul play but there are a lot of aspects to the investigation they need to consider.

While his family never stopped looking for the Hutchinson High School graduate, in June of 2023 the Lane County Sheriff’s Office revealed it had identified remains that matched those of Sprenger. The exact nature of Sprenger’s death is unknown, and the Lane County Sheriff’s Office is still actively investigating the case.

Her brother had a contagious personality, Uecker said, and he loved the outdoors.

“He was the most laid back, soft-spoken and kindhearted person you would meet,” she said. “He always had a smile on his face. He was quick to offer support to anyone in need, whether that be someone who needed a shoulder to lean on or someone who needed a hand with a building project, and he never expected or asked for anything in return. He loved his dog, Greta, fishing and being outdoors. He was an amazing carpenter and was looking forward to finally building his own home.”

A celebration of Shane’s life will be held Sept. 23. The family asks that instead of bringing flowers or similar that people will instead donate to the Michael Bryson Foundation.

“It’s been an excruciating year and a half for our family since Shane went missing ...,” the family wrote in a statement released to news media. “We are devastated and our hearts shattered to receive confirmation of his passing.

Wow I just did a deep dive on this case this morning and there sure are some big ,bright blazing red flags swirling around the circumstances of Shane’s case. It sounds like LE know who all was involved in his disappearance but cannot prove anything yet. I’m hoping that one day we hear that an arrest is made in the case

This lengthy article is about 5 people who are missing from within an 85-mile radius in Lane County, Oregon.

Their families raised $3,000 to expedite DNA testing of a skull that was found in the area 18-months ago. They were inspired by Candice Cooley, mother of Dylan Rounds, and "Dylan's Legacy Project." There is a potentially 12-week wait for results of the DNA testing.

The article includes an interview with a sergeant in the Lane County Sheriff's Office, who discusses the chronically underfunded and undermanned department, and the difficulties of searching in the treacherous geography of the area.

A SKULL found in a remote Oregon woodland could finally provide closure for a heartbroken family whose loved one disappeared without a trace.

Shane Sprenger, 47, vanished in Blue River, Lane County, Oregon in November 2021 and his devoted sisters, Misty and Stacey, told The U.S. Sun they fear foul play.

The carpenter's arm was found nearby on June 27, 2023, but his body has never been discovered.

A cranium which washed up 18 months ago, however, could finally crack the mystery that has remained unsolved for almost four years.

But Sprenger's disappearance isn’t the only one in the mountainous, rural area of Lane County, which has a population of 350,000.

Within an 85-mile radius, there are at least five open investigations, with shattered families still searching for the answers.

At the most recent count, 35 people are missing — one of the largest numbers in the state.

"He (Shane) was a gentle soul," said his sister Misty, who also revealed they were scammed by a rogue private investigator who fleeced them for $30,000.

She claims there were red flags in her brother's case from the start.

"He didn't do this himself," Misty added. "He didn’t end up in the river by himself."

The results of the skull examination could be key.
