Did he say this today?

No, today he changed his tune and said that they have been treating this as a criminal investigation since day 1.

Is it possible to get phone-records from a specific area - say larch Mountain - there should be cell-phone towers in that area. Would it not be possible to get all the cell-pings that this tower received and reverse-investigate whether these cell-phones could be with the prep(s) or not. Even if someone owns a prepaid phone, this is quite possible.

Here I have to input the zipcode where the bill is mailed for a CREDIT CARD gas purchase and a PIN for a DEBIT purchase...
OR CASH up front!

I wonder if the kids who found the phone needed to/were able to plug it in and charge it so they could get owners info? Meaning, was the phone dead when they found it or off?

Clint said at 9:30 that morning, Whitney's phone was going straight to voicemail. So it was either turned off, or the battery was dead.

The interesting thing is, the kids who found the phone said there was a picture of the missing girl on the phone (Whitney). Did they have to turn the phone on to see this?

I'm still catching up, can anyone answer this question for me?

http://www.oregonlive.com/gresham/index.ssf/2012/10/gresham_police_community_want.html

"Heichel's disappearance is considered suspicious, but it is not a criminal investigation at this point, said Gresham Police Lt. Claudio Grandjean."

Umm... what?

Did he say this today?

I think that is bad reporting, IMO. Paraphrasing, but I am pretty sure he said during today's presser that this is an active criminal investigation and has been treated so since the on-set. He also said the FBI is involved too!

BBM

Nope.

You're kidding!? This can't be right surely...

Does this mean if someone picked my pocket and got my CC/Debit card they could just fill their car up with gas no questions asked?

I'm in UK so not sure if I'm understanding this right.

Did he say this today?

not today. he said a couple of times that they handled it as a criminal investigation from the beginning (rephrased: to error on the side of caution)

Why did Whitney have to park on the street? The apt. complex has a parking lot, doesn't it?

Thanks. I think that might explain there being multiples purchases with her card versus just the one purchase that LE has mentioned. It would seem odd for this person to be stopping at different places just a couple of minutes apart. :)

Multiple purchases would get reported as multiple transactions atleast on my debit card even though the actual value of each transaction at the gas station might be different than initial small amount but it would be reflected within one day. So by now they would be knowing for sure how many transactions and its true value.

Were any of the neighbors interviewed about previous evening activities? (I know the interview from the lady that parked the suv for her).
It would be nice if there was someone that came home after the suv was parked and left the apartment area before Whitney did at 6:45 to tell us that the vehicle was there all night.
What other vehicles do they own?
Has the husband been interviewed by media?
Did anyone see anything usual during the night before?
In looking at the map, why would you go to Dodge Park and Larch Mountain? There is not even direct access from on to the other without going back through Gresham.

After reading the transcripts from today"s presser, I think Whitney definitely knows her abductor (I'm hoping she is still alive but I don't "feel" like she is)....

The map speaks volumes to me. And that's all I can say right now.

It may not be "right" but it's still how it's done. I hand the guy my card and say "fill up regular, please." He swipes the card, hands it back to me, then fills up the tank. Later asks me if I want a receipt. I usually say no, then I'm on my way. A million ways for fraud to occur here, I'm sure, but it sure is quick and easy!

If you have seen the photos, lots of people park their cars on the streets. may be it is closer to her apt and also she can keep an eye on her Ford Exp. (may be break-ins are common inside the apt or in that area).

Another reason would be there would not be empty parking spaces inside for her to park closer to her apt and she might have to park way-inside and walk a bit.

Yes. Here in Oregon we don't get to pump our own gas. We pull up to a tank, someone comes over, we hand them a card and they ask what type of gas we want. They swipe it and hand it back and we're on our way. They don't even look at the card.

Damn! It is bad enough being "teased" by LE.

I *think* I have an idea what you may be thinking though;)
