He can't have any more time out. He's done. Goose is cooked. Hopefully she'll hand down the sentence by Friday and OP will go straight to jail where he can continue to whine about the unfairness of it all behind bars. What a total coward.

BIB Well he definitely won't be eating turkey/goose en famille this Xmas Soozie , so it's just as well it is cooked.

From me to you OP Advanced Seasons greetings

:jail: :snowball::santahat:

BIB - yes, I wondered that too. He was still under house arrest while on bail, so I'm not sure. But if the original sentence was null and void, the new sentence can surely only start once he's back in jail? Can anyone clarify?

sleuth - d is right Soozie.

I am sure we researched this last time - this being at home now does NOT count towards it.

Interesting indeed Tortoise. Now that thought flickered in my mind when I saw her turn up BUT I couldn't rem the rules for witnesses testifying . ( I also didn't know she was sat with the family as didn't recognise the mosuey haired woman with Aimee.)

If they're gonna testify can they sit in open court beforehand like JE did today ? I can't remember

BIB Thank you, you have answered my other question too.

I believe so, because their evidence can't really be tainted by being present in court. Like Barry Steenkamp for instance.

Does anyone know for sure what the minimum time before he will be eligible for parole is? I know I am putting the cart way before the horse but have read both 75% and 50% of the total sentence. It always seems to be the case with SA law and regulations that we get conflicting reports.

Personally I am a bit worried that the State don't seem to have done anything to rebut Scholtz`s claim that he should be hospitalized. Couldn't they have brought in some prison psychologist to testify that many prisoners suffer from similar conditions as OP (PTSD, depression, anxiety) and it is just part and parcel of being in custody and is monitored and treated within the system (if indeed that is the case which seems likely). After all the carrying on in this trial I am not confident at all in Masipa. Perhaps I am worrying needlessly but it seems 'odd' that there has been no-one official testifying for the State to address that defense witness and the last State witness sounds like they will be an intimate of Reeva's. As moving and compelling as family and friends testimony can be I would have liked to have seen a few more State witnesses with a slew of letters after their names! After all, in summing up Reeva Steenkamp last time Masipa didn't say anything much beyond she was good in front of a camera so I don't think 'victim impact testimony' holds much sway in her courtroom. In a perverse way I am almost hoping she gives him such a shockingly light sentence that the State immediately appeals and it goes back to SCA and they give him 20. I`m vindictive like that! :)

I think she's been asked to be there on standby.

If Sam Taylor is called to give evidence about DV, defence will probably use Edkins to rebut her evidence. Roux did say he didn't know whether he was finished until all the State witnesses had been called.

Well there has been talk of OP and his future children. It would be shocking if whatshername got up on the stand and announce that she is pregnant with OPs child and that they have a wedding date set! LOL!

not watched, but reading all the posts on here have any "compelling and extenuating circumstances" been raised? i didn't notice any.

so 15 years [minimum]... minus 1 year inside, minus 2 or 3 months that was served under the house arrest before the previous ch conviction was quashed [dec 2015].

since then he has been out on bail pending sentencing hasn't he?... does that get taken off a murder sentence? if it does, then it is in the convict's interest to drag out proceedings/appeals for as long as possible - which sounds wildy inappropriate to me.

reeva was murdered on 14 feb 2013... 40 months later this fella is still out shopping for groceries.

Couldn't agree more, it's ludicrous how long this has dragged on!

I don't think the time on bail is counted but I have a feeling that snake Roux will try to argue for it due to the fame or infamy that is Oscar Pistorius. Hence the abuse he got whilst shopping for groceries. He's arguably put forward worse arguments and let's face it what else has he got?! If it's not that it will be some other BS.

ha - Yes it's all becoming like some Z listers soap , with a few more on his side originating in panto.
(The only ones with any dignity are in the victim's )

Oh my!

Radovan krecjir will appear by video link as Roux's last witness to attest to OP being a very "kind man", Masipa nodding vigorously.

My favourite part so far was when Masipa told Roux he was tricking the witness. It took the wind out of his sails, and he couldn't find the words to reply. Snake indeed Paul.

Lol I've literally just spit my coffee all down my front at your edit. Hilarious!

Too bad that part isn't in a video clip by itself. I didn't watch Mr. Steenkamp and won't, but I did read his painful words. I only saw the testimony after the break of the nurse, who did very well against Roux's attempts to change fact(s).

The nurse standing her ground left Roux feeling utter anger and contempt for her by the end. It was written all over his face. He doesn't do magnanimity. Graceless to the last.

Haha, That nurse is fierce! She doesn't take any crap does she? God love her. She looked like she was going to rip Roux a new one until Masipa waded in too.

Credit to Masipa too, she was on to him for once.

It's funny ,as Pail says later on downthread, he doesn't do well when he's not in control - he has no poker face.
Nel's response to hard times from Masipa has been more silent sighs and teeth gritting.

BIB Or it could simple be he is a god father so was counting on a little more loyalty ?

I think perhaps Masipa, the former social worker/journalist, could identify with her.

Yes, I'm sure you're right. She must see echoes of her own past in the confident, courageous nurse and having white, elitist, entitled, contemptuous, self-righteous men talking down to you.

yes, think you're probably right. It's not the effect of the SCA and Masipa wanting to curtail Roux as such.

I did think the Nurse Manager was good, though I didn't catch all her testimony, but when she agreed he was non-violent , looked down and then said "well actually , no he is violent" to the laughter of others, was she just correcting herself or trying to fit with the pros line? I thought the former.

Hello old friends.

I just now learned that the resentencing is under way. Haven't read thread yet - hoping there's video!
