According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, he escaped from prison in January 1996 while serving time for breaking into a payphone.

People serve time for breaking into a pay phone?! This man's life was surely a tragic story. I'm glad he has his name back.
This is back when payphones ran on physical coins. They were emptied on a schedule, so if you busted one open just before collection, you could get a decent haul of silver.

Calls were $0.25. Let the scoundrel pay to repair the phone and give him 48 hrs community service. But prison is crazy for such a petty crime. A criminal sentence is life altering, at least for most people.

Honored that Othram could assist the Honolulu Police Department in identifying the suspect in the 1977 assault and murder of 16-year-old Dawn Momohar. The suspect has now been arrested. This is why we need initiatives like Othram's Project 525. Too many crimes against children remain unsolved.

Honored that Othram could assist the Detroit Police Department in identifying a 2001 John Doe as Viktor Dickson, born in December of 1956. Everyone, regardless of circumstance deserves their name back.

It is weird that the family misidentified the remains. What made them say it was her?

If it was visual identification after a while, they may have just seen things that reminded them of her enough. And if they didn't have dentals or fingerprints, and it was before DNA, then that was what they had to work with.

I would hope that there's still a way to identify the other person, that she was buried rather than cremated.

Well, now I'm quite curious on who the remains misidentified as belonging to Rebecca really were. Did they even belong to a teenage girl? I feel like this ID has opened a whole other can of worms aside from Rebecca's murder.

Rest in peace, Rebecca.
