🚨 Major Drug Bust in DeKalb County Yielded Over 6 Pounds of Methamphetamine
FORT PAYNE, Ala. — October 5, 2022. In a coordinated effort across multiple law enforcement agencies, DeKalb County Narcotics Agents executed three search warrants that led to the seizure of more than six pounds of methamphetamine, along with Ecstasy, controlled pills, and drug paraphernalia.

🔍 Operation Overview
The operation involved the DeKalb County Narcotics Unit, DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Henagar Police Department, Rainsville Police Department, ALEA Region F Task Force, and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

Henagar Residence (Tinker Drive): Agents and Henagar Police Officers acted on intelligence regarding drug activity. The search uncovered approximately 5 pounds of methamphetamine, Ecstasy, and various drug paraphernalia.

Arrests Made:
*Rory Bentley Shankles (62, Henagar) – Trafficking in Any Illegal Drug, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Brenda Annette Scott (54, Henagar) – Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Jackson County Residence & Rainsville Motel: Agents pursued a suspect believed to be staying at a motel in Rainsville. A search of the room led to the confiscation of over 5 ounces of methamphetamine, controlled pills, and drug paraphernalia.

Arrests Made:
*Anthony Glenn Hilley (59, Pisgah) – Trafficking in Any Illegal Drug, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance
*Christy Nicole Jennings (37, Ider) – Same charges

🗣 Sheriff Welden Responds
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden praised the operation, calling it a "HUGE win" in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking:

"When you mention pounds and drugs together, that is definitely a big supplier in poisoning many people and our youth. I feel like today, we have cut the head off of a BIG SNAKE that has been sinking its fangs into our county."

He commended the teamwork and dedication of all involved agencies:

"It is amazing what can be accomplished when we work together and focus on the main goal—PROTECTING YOU!"
