* Nicole Piacentini was found dead on Nov. 13 on Cumberland Street near Jasper in Kensington.

New Images Released of Suspected Philadelphia Serial Strangler

Published December 18, 2010

New enhanced footage has been released of a man Philadelphia police believe to be connected to a series of stranglings in the Philly area.

A young woman found this week may be the third victim of the Kensington strangler, MyFoxPhilly reports.

Casey Mahoney, 27, of East Stroudsburg, Pa., was the victim of a manual strangulation on Wednesday afternoon on East Tusculum Street.

Early Thursday evening, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey announced that Mahoney was found in a lot and may be a victim of the Kensington Strangler.

The autopsy confirmed Mahoney was sexually assaulted and was strangled. Police also retrieved DNA from the victim. Once that evidence is analyzed, police will know if the victim was the work of the strangler.

At least three other women have reported being attacked by a man who choked, sexually assaulted or hit them, police said.

The man was last seen wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and black jeans. Police said he was described as a black male in his early 20s, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing 170 pounds. He has a medium complexion.

According to police, the suspect stated that his name is “Anthony.”

Police urge anyone with information about this male or about these crimes to call the Philadelphia Special Victims at 215.685.6263.

Except for the Flora Street one, which doesn't fit MO either, all are fairly close together in Kensington.

There is a Welfare Office in the center of the rest of them.

Liberty District
219 East Lehigh Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19125-1099

All other sites are within a half mile of it.

Seriously, with bimonthly pattern, I'd say that it could be tied to a welfare check pickup. I don't know if there are any places to cash them, an EFT site in the area.

MySpace page had eerie message from latest victim

Sat, Dec. 18, 2010

The question emerges eerily on the MySpace page of the woman who may be the latest victim of the Kensington Strangler, between "Ever shoplifted?" and "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

"How do you want to die?"

Casey Mahoney, 27, a pretty, young blonde who had recently lost 100 pounds and doted on her toddler son, responded in a way that today, seems downright tragic.

"Quickly, with no pain," Mahoney wrote.

Cops try to get into mind of Kensington Strangler

Sat, Dec. 18, 2010

THE DAYS grow shorter and colder, while the body count seems as though it will only grow longer.

The cops hunting the Kensington Strangler know this. As they run down tip calls, pore over neighborhood surveillance footage and scour the desolate, depressed pockets of Kensington for something, anything, that could lead them to the killer, they wonder:

I think LE need to talk this guy:furious:

Unfortunately that guys beliefs are felt by alot of people. Particularly men. He gave his name, but either he purposely spelled it wrong or the
"reporter" spelled it wrong. I sent an e-mail to the guy who wrote that article and to the Op-Ed. By printing that he perpetuated an ugliness that these women don't need at any time let alone now.:furious:

That worked my last nerve. Like ummmmmm if you are frequenting prostitutes you don't think that's risky you a**? I don't know why I am so shocked someone actually said that or why I am shocked the Daily News printed it.

I saw the article of the possibility of HIV. Scary. And yes, I'd blame him.

The Keffiyeh is exceptionally common in winter in the neighborhood; I have 2 and was wearing one today. They are warm and keep the skin from being exposed. They are also not considered effeminate, so men can wear then in public. Looking at the photo, it could be a hoodie under a jacket, a very common look.

I doubt if the guy would be Muslim; most Muslims wear a full beard. They also wear a full caftan, though often over jeans.

I did plot the attacks on my mapping program. All attacks are within about a 1/2 mile of each other. Four of them are on the south side of 2500 block of Kensington.

The dates look like, early and then mid month. It could be a welfare check day. If so, we could see another one just after New Year's Day, unless the guy stops or gets caught.

I heard a rumor that someone looking like him was at the Community Legal Services office at Broad and Erie earlier this week, but bolted.

Sorry to intrude, but this one is hitting close to home. :(

J.J. no way are you intruding. Thank you for the insight. I'm sorry you have to worry.

Do people have to pick up the welfare check? I thought it went directly onto one of those cards they use. If they do have to pick it up that could be a clue. Even if it's not welfare maybe he goes into the neighborhood for something else at those times.

The Keffiyeh. When I saw the guys wearing them it was summer. Definately wearing them sort of like everybody wears a big white T-Shirt and same pants so they aren't as recognizable when some cop radios "Pink shirt, purple pants, white baseball cap". You know what I mean? I was thinking well I sure couldn't identify them they got these scarves on their heads and over their faces.

The reason I didn't think he was Muslim was he originally had that soul patch.

If we are to believe the media that was no rumor the woman called the cops at the Community Legal Services. The poor woman was quite shaken up.

Please stay safe and thanks for sharing with us. That welfare thing could be dead on, but do you have to go to the office each time you get a check?

Oh I have to get a calendar, T! Not sure about the end of the week.

Yes, all the victims have been caucasian. Similar age brackets.

Philadelphia strangling victim had NEPA ties

December 19, 2010

Less than a week before she was found strangled to death in Philadelphia, Casey Mahoney was in Northeast Pennsylvania hospitals, trying to get clean.

Oh at least she had people that loved her. Even her friends family.

Northeastern Pennsylvania Hospital? Northeastern closed and was not a drug/alcohol facility. It may be now though. It is close to where the murders occured.

The only other one I can think of is Kensington hospital. I was just looking up facilities and they were rated. It gave Kensington a few stars. Trust me I can tell you that is total BS.

Now if the friends mom meant Penn Presby that kills me because that is a phenomenal program. However I can tell you they would give you a problem about insurance but would work with you. The article stated that Casey left after a week. That's not uncommon wherever she was. Maybe it wasn't insurance, but she wanted to leave.

I'm wondering where Elaine had gone as well as Nicole. I wondered from the get-go if maybe he didn't meet the girls through rehab or meetings.

It is so tough when they know there's drugs just a few El stops away. Heck, with Kensington hospital it's right around the corner.

Poor girl. So sad to have her life taken from her in the midst of trying.

Drugs.

Debbie they are reporting that Casey had also lived in New York. Then of course she went to East Stroudsburg. Maybe it's there she picked up a habit?

With all do respect and I absolutely know what you mean, but our entire city isn't like this. We do have a beautiful city. I'm guessing originally she came here to go to rehab from East Stroudsburg. As good as it is to be getting clean there's always people meeting up in detox and they leave together to use. I wish I could go to the smoky mountains though.:)

I'm sorry y'all have lost such a beautiful regular.

I have not worked there for nearly 13 years, but I think it's like an ATM card now, only rarely a check (if at all). They still have to go someplace to get the actual cash, but not the office.

I found two check cashing places in the area. One is, I think, is just north of where the four attacks occurred (2700 block?) and one is basically where Front intersects with Kensington Avenue. I'm wondering if they do Welfare Department EFT's?

The thing is, the payments, when the money is credited electronically, is bimonthly. I'm looking at the pattern and the attacks look bimonthly. They determine payment day by the last digit of the record number. Maybe by someone whose record number ends with 3-5?

He could be using cash to bait the prostitutes.

You know what I mean? I was thinking well I sure couldn't identify them they got these scarves on their heads and over their faces.

It's basically the style (and yes, I dress that way), at least in winter. I don't see too many Keffiyehs in summer, however.

That was definitely a hoodie, but they are so common, I'm wearing one now.

If we are to believe the media that was no rumor the woman called the cops at the Community Legal Services. The poor woman was quite shaken up.

I didn't hear it from the media; I heard it on the street. I live within walking distance of that office, but I'm male and older. Most of the people I know in the area don't fit the victims profile, so far.

Ironically, even in 90's, I've never seen a prostitute at that corner. You do see Caucasians there, in that age/sex range, because it's people from Temple Hospital using the subway.

I thought it was rare for a serial killer to murder outside of his race? Could he be biracial? Perhaps his mother is white?
