Police say Kiarali Rodriguez-Ayala, 23, was caring for the 3-year-old when she was found in the tub at a home on the 400 block of North 50th Street on Friday.
When first responders arrived at that home, they also found Rodriguez-Ayala's children, ages 2 and 4, with "obvious injuries," according to the DA's office. The two children were taken to a hospital for treatment of bruises and burn marks.

She is in police custody and, the DA's office noted that her bail is set at $1 million and she has been ordered to stay away from her children.

The 3-year-old who died is not Rodriguez-Ayala's child.
Sources say Rodriguez-Ayala told investigators that the mother of the 3-year-old dropped her off last Friday, and she has been in her care since.

A preliminary hearing was held Monday for 22-year-old Kiarali Rodriguez-Ayala. She was held in court on all charges for the February 2023 death of a 3-year-old girl who was in her care as well as the alleged abuse of her 2-year-old child. After further investigation, the Commonwealth withdrew abuse charges related to Rodriguez-Ayala’s 4-year-old child, according to the DA’s office.
The DA’s Office has two separate cases against Rodriguez-Ayala. For the death of the little girl, she will be proceeding to trial on the charges of murder, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, possession of an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person.
For the alleged abuse of her 2-year-old child, she will be proceeding to trial on the charges of aggravated assault, endangering welfare of children, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and aggravated assault - victim less than 6.
The cases will be consolidated and tried by the District Attorney's Family Violence & Sexual Assault Unit, officials said.
