Especially the BBM part being broadcast. I wish we had someone to tell us exactly what "vital information" was told by LE. (Other than what we know) Is this just a way for LE to get people to cooperate? I have never seen anything like it.

Forgive me for being cynical. IMO a resounding yes. People do not cooperate. There's a mistrust of the police. Time after time when someone cooperates they wind up dead. Of course this isn't everyone, but if you open your door and people see you talking to cops a bit too long that does not sit well.

It takes a hefty reward in many cases for someone to even give an anonymous tip.

When I first heard about this case the other day and saw that the kidnapper wore the same muslim outfit as the mother, I couldn't help but wonder if it was someone that admired the little girl and wanted to take her out of school for the day (really take her out to breakfast maybe, maybe pretend she was the mom of her - perhaps she thought the real mom was mean, who knows) and then all of the sudden it was all over the news, and she was to scared to "bring her back". Obviously this isn't probably true because why the blindfold, why was she hidden under a bed...? That and I think by now they would have figured that out, if that was what happened.

I do believe her being in that TShirt, that it was probably given to her to sleep in. I believe they said it was down to her knees? As a child I often slept in oversized Tshirts. That and it sounds like the idea to "dump" her was last minute, so there was no time to give her the clothing she had on back? I hope the TShirt gives them some clues. I'm surprised they have not shown pictures of it yet. I really hope they area able to catch who did this and put them behind bars. I think this girl will be in fear for a long time of someone taking her again.

aleigh, on one of our local TV broadcasts they said little N was in the T-Shirt all day. How they came up with that I am not sure. They probably ditched her clothing and backpack fairly quickly.

If the dad was involved, then, does this even become an abduction if he gave permission for someone to pick up his daughter, and he approved the pick-up?

If the news reports are right, and Mom lives on s. 4th St in South Philadelphia, I'm having a hard time guessing why NR would be attending kindergarten way over at 60th & Cedar in West Philly.

Has anyone read any reason why she's traveling so far for kindergarten?

I know it is probably not within the residency requirements of the school district but I was wondering if the school is geographically located near to the daycare provider who picks N and her sibling up after school each day.

Or perhaps the home address was once in the school's area and a move occurred but mom kept the children in the same school for continuity purposes.

Could someone point me to a link that says the parents are involved? Actively involved? Because otherwise, I am not sure how we arrived at some of these conclusions and I am kind of horrified for this family.

  • #788
Perhaps an extended family member or a member of their mosque/temple is involved, but I really don't get the feeling that the immediate family in involved. JMO.....

  • #789
There are no links that either parent is actively involved.

Dad was pulled in for further questioning/interview yesterday. He was already interviewed once and reportedly passed a LDT. LE says they believe he may have useful important information.

I haven't seen either parent accused but it is possible that someone acquainted with one or both of the parents is responsible.

I believe this is were the thoughts are stemming from. The father was questioned again. He passed a lie detector test, but his cell phone was confiscated for evidence.

Action News was there as he left the Special Victims Unit after more than two hours of questioning.

Although police have previously stated he passed a lie detector test and is not a suspect, sources say detectives confiscated his cell phone and were seeking a search warrant to go through the device

Just jumping off of your post as a general reminder to everyone about the family members.

It seems like we have to do this in every single case... Please do not speculate on family members until or unless they have been named a suspect or a person of interest.

DESCRIPTION OF PERPS:

Abductor: She has been described as a dark-skinned black woman in her late 20s, standing 5' 5" to 5' 8" tall, with a thin build and possibly pregnant. Police now say she told the child her name was "Rashida."

Male Assoc.: That man is described as a light-skinned, possibly white, man in his mid-thirties with short brown hair. The girl told police he was wearing sweat pants and a blue long-sleeved t-shirt.

2nd woman (released N): No further information about that second woman has been released.

I think a warrant for his phone and having his child raped to collect a few bucks from the school are a big leap. JMVHO. There are a hundred reasons for being unwilling to give up his phone which may have zero relationship to his child's abduction.

:(

I am going to hope for a rapid resolution, and I pray that the child was not permanently injured from all of this.

We do not know that N was sexually assaulted. We know that she was dressed in a flimsy adult tee shirt when found. We know a sexual assault exam was performed. We know an LEO made a statement about [paraphrasing] no child should have to go thru what she went thru (at presser yesterday at 1 pm)

It is possible (I think probably) but not a known fact as yet.

Just keeping the facts straight so confusion does not ensue.

I can think of no reason to not willingly give up my phone to police to catch a perp that kidnapped/assaulted my daughter and possibly other kids. NOT ONE. I don't care if I had illicit affairs/naked pics or drug deals on my phone. My child would come first.

:welcome: Aleigh :wagon:

I am curious, too, if the large t-shirt NR was found in will provide needed clues!

A possibly bi racial muslim couple with a woman named Rashida should be easy to find...if her name is really Rashida..which I doubt. I hope they find these perps today.

I honestly believe that this is certainly a position to take. I have seen a hundred cases when there MIGHT be illicit activity not related to the missing child/person whatsoever and individuals dont know how to protect themselves and still be seen as cooperating.

Dad took a poly and passed. That says a lot in terms of cooperation given how dicey this investigative tool can be in terms of accuracy.
