DOMINICK GUILTY IN BONACCI SLAYING

A Lackawanna County jury today found Jason Dominick guilty of third degree murder and conspiracy for the death of Frank Bonacci, rejecting the prosecution’s theory that the killing was premeditated.

Looking forward to June 2, just 3 weeks and Pal will be on his way.

I am so glad the jury gave a verdict, it looked dicey for a while.

The local news really did a good job with trial coverage, which is always difficult when cameras aren't allowed. Hat tip to Rebekah Brown, Stacy Lange and Eric Deabill.

Friends and family of Frankie really kept his story from being forgotten, hosting events and memorials. The facebook page is also informative. The next big event is a 5K to honor Frankie in July, a year after he was murdered.

Neil Pal’s attorneys asserted that because a jury found his co-defendant, Jason Dominick, not guilty of first-degree charges earlier this month, similar charges against their client should be dropped...

In an order Friday, filed hours after the motion to dismiss, Judge Terrence Nealon denied the request. He pointed to the state crime code, which states that an accomplice can be convicted even if the person who allegedly committed the offense is convicted of different charges, a different degree or acquitted.

“Dominick’s acquittal of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder has no effect upon Pal’s criminal culpability for that same offense,” Judge Nealon wrote.
