Prosecutors: Give Dominick max sentence for Bonacci murder

Snip:

Prosecutors want Jason Dominick to serve 80 years in prison for his “cold” and “malicious” behavior before and after the murder of Frank Bonacci.

A jury found Mr. Dominick guilty of third-degree murder and conspiracy in May. Each count carries a maximum of 40 years.

Snip:

Mr. Dominick’s attorney, Bernard Brown, reached by phone Tuesday, said he anticipated the filing and plans to file his own memorandum asking to merge the sentences.

Mr. Dominick is scheduled for sentencing before Judge Terrence Nealon on Aug. 1.

The sentence for Dominick will be on top of a 2.5-5 year sentence for theft...so he will spend 42.5-85 years behind bars

Calling him the most “dispassionate and apathetic” defendant he’s ever encountered, Lackawanna County Judge Terrence Nealon on Friday sentenced Neil Pal to life in prison plus 20 to 40 years for his role in the death of Frank Bonacci.

As he had throughout the trial, Mr. Pal, 24, showed no emotion as he stood before the court to be formally sentenced for his June 12 conviction on charges of first degree murder as an accomplice and a related conspiracy count. That lack of emotion and remorse resounded with the judge, who described the case as one of the most troubling he’s handled in his 16 years on the bench...

“I have presided over hundreds of trials... In all of that time I have never, ever witnessed somebody speak and act in such a cold and dispassionate and apathetic manner as Mr. Pal did when he described the gruesome details of a murder of somebody who was supposed to be his friend,” Judge Nealon said.
