The suspect, Cody Balmer, called 911 following the attack early Sunday, identified himself by name and told operators Shapiro needs to know he “…will not take part in his plans for what he wants to do to the Palestinian people,” the search warrant written by police said.

The search warrant obtained by PennLive reveals what police believe was Cody Balmer's motive in the arson: "perceived injustices to the people of Palestine."

Officials report that Balmer’s mother had also contacted Crisis Intervention on April 6; however, police say since Balmer did not make threats to himself or others, his case “did not meet the threshold for an involuntary mental health evaluation.”

Officials state that an individual can only be involuntary committed if they exhibit the following behavior:

Presenting a clear and present danger to others
Unable to self-care
Attempting suicide or expressing suicidal or homicidal ideations
Self-mutilating

mental health will come into play in this defense. I had a suspicion there might be a MH diagnosis and a decision to end medication compliance. I'm gonna guess BP1 with possible schizoaffective features. The paranoia, the delusions, would all make sense if that were the case.

Understand I am not advocating for this defendant or excusing his crime, or suggesting he not be prosecuted for it. Just saying I think the mental health of this accused will come into play at any trial.

OmG this guy is truly insane. IMO.

Stating that Gov. Shapiro is looking at Balmer’s daughters? That Shapiro had arranged for people to be killed, and that the 911 operator is also in danger?
