Sure wish I could read it. I get this:

Because you are coming from a location (Oregon) covered by a Privacy Law, many of the features of TribLIVE.com, like videos and social media elements are disabled. If you wish to proceed to the site under those conditions (doing so will effectively opt you out of the sale of your personal data) click here. However you will not experience the full features of TribLIVE.com that rely upon third party networks that may require your personal data.

Can someone sum up a few highlights, please?

No, I can't read past the '...' in the lower right as it tries to take me back to TribLive to read the rest. I tried half a dozen different ways to outsmart it. None worked, darn it. Trust me... not for lack of trying on my part!

What I see on X:

Here is an excerpt, there’s much more detail in the article.

As Detective Janine Triolo settled in across the table from Virzi, the 29-year-old from San Diego said, “Um, I’m going to tell you the truth. The biggest part of that truth is that I did not want him to die.”

With a tone that fluctuated from somber to panicked to matter-of-fact, Virzi continued: “From a very, very young age, I don’t know what it is, but I always had this urge — almost like a compulsion I can’t control — to hurt kids.”

Leon, she said, fell victim to it. Virzi had traveled to Pittsburgh that week to visit her best friend, who had just had twins.

While she thought she’d get to spend time with her friend, Virzi told detectives, “I kind of grew angry because I was being put to nanny work.

“Something about that built up a lot of anger in me.”

“So when I was alone with (Leon) I shook him a couple times — hard. And I dropped him a couple times — hard.”

Virzi said she also flipped the infant upside down on the bathroom tile floor. “I heard some kind of crack.”

“Something just came over me I couldn’t control,” Virzi said. “I’m telling you this because I can’t keep lying about it.”

“I don’t want to hurt anyone any more,” Virzi said. “I know the best thing is for me to go away — or maybe worse.”

The Allegheny County District Attorney’s office is seeking the death penalty.

On Friday, during a hearing on a defense motion to suppress her statement to police, prosecutors played lengthy portions of Virzi’s video-recorded interrogation.

Virzi’s lawyers, Tina Miller and William Difenderfer, argued Virzi’s confession was coerced following a 13-hour illegal detention “during which investigators utilized nearly every trick in the book to manipulate Ms. Virzi into making a statement.”

Did you try clicking the privacy notice link you noted?

Maybe go directly to triblive on desktop. I’m sharing from mobile so maybe that’s messing things up.

Thanks! One of the things I tried to do was find an alternate source. Thought I did but it only had a teaser too, then took you to TribLive. Stoopid thing. :(

OMG omg omg

I never expected to hear anything like this! How terrible. No children have been safe around her since she herself was a child. I just cannot imagine...

Yeah, she's an extreme sadist. And has been her whole life.

People don't like to know that some people are just wired wrong, want to think that love and care will always trump any biological landmines, but it's true.

Some people are just born with the urge to hurt and kill others. It's rare, but not as rare as we would wish.

I suspected it would be like this, if she ever talked. She reminds me of Letby.

Speechless with shock over confession. Her so many psychology classes and this is the results? MOO, it's just inexcusable that she took that trip knowing she would be around children and being totally aware of her own sick compulsions. Controllable, she did not have to take that trip. I don't want to hear excuses that she didn't mean for that baby to die when she took that trip with some kind of hidden agenda and evil intentions. This is ALL MOO here.

The article didn’t tell us when a decision will be made on the defense motion to suppress her statements. Only “the hearing is expected to continue before Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Jill Rangos at some future date.” Docket shows the next hearing date is set for Jan 9. I suppose we won’t have a ruling on admissibility of the confession for some time.

The psychology thing is equally unsurprising to me. "Physician, heal thyself" etc. A segment of people who study psych disciplines do so because they are aware that they, themselves, lie somewhere outside the norm. Most of these people are not dangerous, and some lead to wonderful advances in treatment for their own conditions - for example, Kay Redfield Jamison (bipolar) and Marsha M. Linehan (borderline). But amongst them are those rare individuals who have no interest in using their self-knowledge to help themselves or others, just to use it be a better monster. Ted Bundy studied psychology, for example.

Isn't her father a psychologist, or maybe a psychiatrist? He may have had suspicions. Or else is wondering how on earth he dIdn't suspect.

I think he is a cardiologist heart doctor. MOO, some of the instances, like the time when she was 7 yrs. old, if anyone even knew what she did to the younger child, was probably written off as just jealous childhood behavior on her part.

I went searching back in Thread One and found mention of her father's profession and a photo of him.

Virzi, a graduate of Pepperdine University who holds a graduate degree in clinical psychology from San Diego State, grew up in the tristate area, the daughter of Dr. Peter J. Virzi, a highly-respected cardiologist affiliated with Mt. Sinai Doctors in Manhattan.

Thank you @Curious Me, yes Cardiologist, I remember now! But I don't think I've heard about incidents when she was a child. Could you be so kind as to enlighten me?

@Kemug, I used the link below and choose my cookie preferences before being allowed to get to the news article. Everything about incidents when she was a child and about this compulsion she talked about when interviewed by LE is in the article.
