Will the other woman involved be charged?

I happened to be at the State Police barracks on other (minor) business. When I was leaving, WTAE TV was outside, concerning this case. Kind of made my own issues seem insignificant.
I don’t know where they can even house them until trial. Other inmates will kill a snitch or someone who has harmed a child.

That poor child, and the quote from her sibling is just heartbreaking

UNIONTOWN, Pa. —
A second person is now charged in connection with the death of 9-year-old Renesmay Eutsey.

Sarah Ann Shipley is charged with homicide, District Attorney Mike Aubele said Friday night.
[...]
"She is currently receiving treatment at a hospital; once released, she will be immediately transported to her arraignment,"
[...]
Shipley overdosed inside a home in Dunbar Township on Friday morning, Aubele previously confirmed to Pittsburgh's Action News 4.

I read all 3 linked articles in the first post and did not see that. Is it in another article?

Fayette County District Attorney [MA] said investigators found signs of abuse and that the girl appeared malnourished with bruises and burns...

a child approached troopers and said she was "never going to see my baby sister again because she's in Heaven,"

Her bio mother and grandmother are on this WTAE video.

*****
“They were abused and tortured,” Christina Benedetto, Renesmay’s biological mother, said Friday. “It’s not just abuse. What they did was torture.”

“I want her back,” said Linda Miller, Renesmay’s biological grandmother. “It hurts. I’m torn up inside. I can’t have my baby back.”

*****

“Sarah [Shipley] is my blood cousin,” Benedetto said. “Kourtney is Renesmay’s [biological] father’s blood cousin.”

Benedetto gave birth to Renesmay when she was 16. Benedetto and Miller raised the girl until she was five. After Benedetto became addicted to drugs, she gave legal guardianship to Shipley and Eutsey.

“It was the hardest decision of my life,” Benedetto said. “At that point, I wasn’t a safe place for them. Child Youth Services said it was best to give Sarah and Kourtney guardianship. They swore to me that they would be safe in their care. CYS not only failed my daughter, but also my three other kids that were in that home.”

There is a lot more in the article.

I don't think this article has been linked yet. Poor little Renesmay, and how horrific for the other children to witness (their descriptions of what they saw are in the article).

I also don't think I've seen the article below posted here, which fleshes out the claimed timeline a little more, and the situation for the other children.

It also makes clear why both adults in the home were charged equally. Quote: “There were certain things that we've observed, certain statements that we've had, and evidence that we've gathered that would seem to suggest that Anybody in the household would have been aware of what was going on,” Aubele said. “Any abuse that happens in front of a parent is to be reported. That parent is as responsible as the other if they don't.”

Renesmay's image is heart wrenching.
Are those circles under her eyes?

A beautiful child who looks like she's trying real hard to smile yet I see pain and sadness behind it, or it could be just me knowing she was brutally abused and eventually murdered.
Is there an uptick in abuse/murder cases of children or
is the media on top of reporting these tragedies now?

It's long overdue that the enablers of child abuse in all its horrific forms are held criminally responsible.
May the "mom" & "dad" rot in prison...life w/o parole.

imo

Here is an article that mentions it:

Children & Youth Services is involved, and all the other children living in the home have been removed. The couple had been homeschooling the children.
BBM:
Thank you Pennsylvania!
Now, I'd like to know for how long they've been homeschooling because Pennsylvania tracks their homeschoolers education and medical status.

So many states with homeschooling where children were severely abused or murdered have none or very lax laws on HS,
IIRC.. In the Kimberly Sullivan Connecticut case the school principal said his hands were tied, parents can pull their children out of school to HS and that is the end of it and they loose all contact with the child.

I didn't see anything about home visits but their medical and education requirement is absolutely crucial.

It states that homeschooling is "complex" ( hurrah) and the info given here is a summery.

So angry yet again! I am thankful the other children are safe.
She was a cutie patootie. And she did look sad and not well taken care of in the photograph provided. RIP Renesmay.

And adopted. They really need to end these "adoption" subsidies for children with disabilities. All it does it set them up in households that want cash.

Even worse, IMO, is that, in this case, the two monsters who murdered her were blood relatives of Renesmay’s biological parents, per the WTAE article linked above. The bio mother did the exact right thing by giving up custody of her children while she battled drug addiction, and she is (IMO) 100% entitled to be furious that the folks at CPS who should’ve been monitoring her children’s wellbeing—and especially Renesmay’s, given her special needs—apparently neglected to followup for an extended period of time with deadly results.

I personally think it would be in the best interests of children if foster parents were required to enroll any children placed with them in a public (or private) school, and not permitted to just “homeschool” them (as these two monsters claimed they were doing, but likely not really doing). At the very least, this would give a few more people the opportunity to observe/monitor the foster children’s wellbeing and raise the alarm if the children seemed to be poorly cared-for.

DUNBAR, Pa. —
The Dunbar community gathered Saturday night to honor the life of 9-year-old Renesmay Eutsey with a candlelight vigil.

They made a memorial, showcasing her favorite things: the colors pink and purple, unicorns, mermaids, and baby dolls.
