UNIONTOWN, Pa. —
A woman who had been reported missing last week was found dead Monday at her home in Uniontown, Fayette County. Police say the suspect, the victim’s husband, remains at large.

Nicole Zambrano was reported missing by coworkers at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort after she had not shown up for work for two or three days. Lt. Thomas Kolencik said the investigation started Friday when police conducted a welfare check at her residence.

Police were initially told that Zambrano’s husband, 55-year-old Arthur Eugene Guty Jr., had left the state, which later turned out to not be true. Guty could not explain his wife’s whereabouts and "when he did give us information, it wasn't accurate," Kolencik said.

Officials were unable to contact Zambrano and launched a search warrant after receiving additional tips.

Police discovered Zambrano’s body Monday at her house in the 00 block of Bierer Avenue. Kolencik said she had “a gunshot wound to a vital part of the body.”

"It's not the way you want to start off 2024," he said of the situation.

Guty is being charged with criminal homicide and aggravated assault, court documents show. He has yet to be taken into custody.

I live in Vegas and will never understand why fugitives choose to hide here. Every inch of this town is monitored by cctv. Casinos spare no expense in protecting the house. It’s like an airport or a military base.
I will never understand it.
Maybe it's the thrill factor with the adrenaline.

I wonder if maybe they hear all the old gangland stories, and decide to take their chances on it being a lawless place where they can easily disappear, like in the movies.

In which case, hey, I'm all for alleged murderers getting caught for making boneheaded decisions based on movies.

Per WTAE, authorities said Guty, 55, was found at the Mardi Gras Casino and he was carrying $100,000 in cash. Police said they found Guty by pinging his phone to the Las Vegas area.

In a separate statement, Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele said authorities believe Guty was on his way “out of the country with a significant amount of cash and was going to avoid, or try to avoid, any responsibility for what happened here.”

Aubele told PEOPLE that the investigation into Zambrano's death is ongoing. "We believe Nicole's murder was intentional and premeditated," he said. "We will prosecute this matter to the fullest extent of the law, and we will secure the justice Nicole deserves."
