Mom in Custody Following Suspicious Death of 2-Year-Old Girl in Northeast Philly Home

A mother is now in custody following the suspicious death of her 2-year-old daughter who was found unresponsive inside a home in the Tacony section of Northeast Philadelphia Thursday night, police said.

Medics responded to a home on the 6300 block of Marsden Street where they found a toddler who was having trouble breathing.

The girl was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Was she crying too long or to loudly? Was she hungry, and there was no food?
At least the mom is in custody.
The Tacony area looks kind of neglected, and some of its residents probably have a hard time with day-to-day life.

My friend lives in Tacony. I could hear the sirens, and knew by the amount of them something bad was happening.

Just last year there was a 1 year old died under suspicious circumstances on 6400 Marsden.

Yes, borndem it's rough in Tacony. Lots of kids, and a ton of dysfunction. However, no excuse for murdering a baby. Not that it matters, but it used to be a great neighborhood. Victorian homes. To this day no bars allowed. It was built by Disston of the saw mill fame.

Poor little doll. We'll see what happened soon enough. In all fairness there are some decent parents stuck there.

I'll be speaking with my friend tomorrow. The one who had the dismembered body in her yard in Tacony. Her grandkids around this little ones age live by Marsden.

The child was covered in knuckle marks, had been beaten in the head, and horrificly injuries indicated this has been a long term torture.

Mom not charged. Apparently not even there. The little sweetie was sent to the Godmother because her house had no heat since November down there on Hartville street.

possession of an instrument of crime is a new one for me. Don’t think I want to know what that is. Poor angel. WHY can’t we figure out how to keep babies safe?

Unclear! Article seems clear that mom did not have custody.

However, if that’s the case than it should have been up to whoever DID have custody or CPS to determine where little Yatzyris should stay. But article says MOM sent her to godmothers house. So who DID have custody??? Was CPS involved??

ETA: were there other children in the home? If so, Was CPS involved with any of them?
