No the judge has to do that, after the prosecutor presents the evidence.

Thanks for editing and clarifying that it is the ATTORNEY who is at an undisclosed location due to threats against him. Just as we predicted. I'll bet Joran's mother is there also.

I wonder how long this attorney will hang around. Is the money worth the threats on your life?

I don't think a parent's love ever ends for their child. They say mothers bring their children their favorite dishes while on death row. Doesn't mean they approve or are protecting anyone. A parent's love should be unconditional - no one else is going to keep loving someone after all this crap.

I think Anita Van Der Sloot has been through quite alot - Joran/Natalee, losing her husband, raising 3 sons alone (well, 2 - one's an adult), Joran/Stephany, etc. She's had quite a bit of heartache. I feel very sorry for her.

If I were his mother, it would be extremely difficult for me to support him under the circumstances. When I was a teenager my mother would sometimes say I love you, but I don't like you very much right now. I'm sure Joran's mom feels the same. She will always love her son, but she can't possibly like the man he has become. JMO

He doesn't seem to give a hoot. After all he put her through you think he would have thought to himself, look what I did to my mom and dad and I'm still free, it's time to turn my life around and prove myself. I think she should support him emotionally not financially.

I have said that to my own son (age 42), who I love more then life. At times, you just don't like your children, but you never stop loving them.

I also have said the same to my mother, reasons I won't share, but I never stopped loving her as my mother.

Good point about the steaks and cigarettes. From the way I understand this - where he is now is only going to last 24 hours. The "authority" decides if there is enough to charge him and what to charge him with. Then he is charged and "assigned" to a prison to await trial. All this is going to happen in the next 24 hours.

Once he is assigned to a prison - he goes there immediately.

If they put him in Lurigancho - they take him there and walk him in, tell him what pavillion he is in (which will probably be the one for British - they said there was a "foreigner" pavillion) - deliver him to the "pavillion" and they leave!!!

He'll be dead before the next morning and they know it. I just can't see them allowing it to happen this way. It will paint Peru in a very bad international light. But, then again, on the other hand, you wear a glove. lol

bolded by me....Yes..One would think that he would think about that...BUT..It appears everything so far...has WORKED for him...The Holloway incident, the lying, the "confession" the lying, the extortion, the lying, the murder of this young innocent woman, the fleeing, the lying...

SO...there was NOTHING to INSPIRE him...TO TURN...his life around...
IMO..he has been INCREDIBLY LUCKY..to have gotten this far with his "DEEDS"...But it appears...his LUCK has..."run out"....

Time to "pay the piper"....all in my own opinion..

I've been through rather a lot with my daughter who is bipolar. One day she asked me why I still loved her after everything we've been through. I said I will always love you no matter what and no matter what you do. If you go out and murder someone, I will still love you. I will take you to the police, but I will still love you and be there for you. I have no problem with Anita being there for her son. She should be. It's the immediate protestations of innocence that I find annoying. I just think she could support him without looking like a complete doormat.
