i disagree with this totally....maybe til hes sentenced...after that he should go to whatever their jail is. he came into their country and killed a young lady...dead, including physical and mental torture. he should go to their jail, whatever it is.

and i think he will.

special treatment: not.

for once he should get what he deserves and that is no more or less than what anyone else would get.

omo

I agree with you in principle. However, given Joran's notoriety, he is far more likely to be attacked/killed than the average prisoner.

Peru is on the world stage now. It will look very bad and draw unwanted attention to Peru's horrible prisons if JVDS happens to die in jail. And I think most people, including Stephany's father, want to see him brought to trial.

I am also holding on to the slim hope that Beth can get the truth about what really happened to Natalee.

Dang! I had the perfect 'fill in' all ready! Foiled again! :innocent:

I saw it earlier in the last thread and it says "Police Officer". I was like :banghead: :furious:

So what's the worst thing can happen to the Peruvians if joran meets his demise in jail? A bit of finger wagging? Some name calling?

They don't seem to be too worried. No protective custody and placing him with lowel level inmates.

I probably shouldn't say this, but in a way it's too bad he's such a "celebrity", or gained such notoriety---all the interference by the Dutch,Aruba,FBI, mom, etc, may be making Peruvian LE and the judicial system nervous about how they handle him. I hope I am wrong, of course!!

If he was just the ordinary criminal (which he actually is anyway, why is he so special?) they'd toss him in Lurigancho or Castro Castro and that would be the end of it. Probably in more ways than one.

Editing to remove "low-level" because I think that means petty thief, etc--and Joran is so much worse than that.....

Well, I hope they treat him just like they would any other prisoner charged with the same crime. What on earth is wrong with them treating him just as anyone else would be treated? It's not the right of any other country to tell the Peruvians how to run their justice system.

bolded by me....I agree with you....BUT...IMHO...I believe he will NEVER tell ...because...he has THE POWER..HE IS..STILL IN CONTROL..of the information..He is still in control of inducing anguish and mental cruelety on Beth...teasing..then not following thru...dashing away all her hopes of her daughter recovery...He..IMO...THRIVES ON THAT....and as long as he can do that to her......HE WILL....He wants to have all the control...of Natalie..and her remains information....He enjoys...Beth's sadness and desperation..and attention...of HIM.......all in my own opinion...

Agreed. But after trial all bets are gonna be off. And the bounty on his head for either money or notoriety will be higher than ever. There's still a large chance he won't make it that long, IMO.

You may be right about that:

SNIPPED:

But he [Guardia] said Peruvian interrogators restricted their questioning to the case of Stephany Flores, the daughter of a circus promoter and former race car driver whom he met playing poker at a casino.

They did not question him about Holloway's disappearance — exactly five years to the day before Flores was killed.

Also, according to criminal police chief Gen. Cesar Guardia, Peruvian authorities do not necessarily believe that he murdered her AFTER returning with coffee.

This got me thinking if it is possible that Mr. Flores was so kind and compassionate of heart to suggest this when he met with Joran.
He may have indicated to Joran that it would be better for him if he did.

If so, can one even imagine that level of thoughfulness so soon after the murder of his only daughter coming from Mr. Flores?
From what I've heard so far, I bet he visited the subject of Natalee's whereabouts with Joran.

Thank you! When Jeffrey Dahmer got killed in one of our prisons, did anyone blink an eye?

I don't think he should get any special treatment. Peru needs to do it their way whether it meets the approval of others or not. So far they have my respect for acting quickly and effectively.

I also think they need to take the camera completely off of jvds. No more photos or reports of what he has to say. He thrives on it. Save the reports for the police, the victim's family, and the judicial officials. JVDS has been given too much already.

On the other hand....Maybe the reaction will be like when people went to see Charles Bronson's "Death Wish" in the theater, and everyone stood up and clapped when he got his vigilante justice on the bad guys!

From CNN.com:

"Peru murder suspect Joran van der Sloot, a longtime suspect in the disappearance of an American teen in Aruba, was transferred from a police facility to the national attorney general's office Thursday morning, according to images broadcast by CNN affiliate America TV.

Van der Sloot's attorney, Maximo Alonso Altez Navarro, told CNN his client will go from the attorney general's office to the Justice Ministry, where a judge will determine which jail he will go to."

I have to wonder what the Flores autopsy showed - that she had no cake
in her system? If true then Joran's confession is a lie. She was dead prior
to him going out for cake(s) & coffee, therefore his socalled confession is
another lie - and then Joran must recant his confession and shape a new one based on the NEW evidence! Let's see how this unfolds, but I dont
believe anything this guy says - I think he is 1000% self serving.

I guess one might say that Dahmer was convicted when he was killed but I agree with you - I don't think joran should get any special treatment either even though I think he might be since he's going to be placed with low level inmates.

From your link:

The attorney for the slain girl's family, Edwar Alvarez, told the AP that prosecutors have until 8 a.m. Friday morning to file charges. Otherwise, Van der Sloot would have to be freed.

Thanks again!

Why does Edwar Alvarez stress this point? Is he trying to move the case along? For what reason?

If I were his mother, it would be extremely difficult for me to support him under the circumstances. When I was a teenager my mother would sometimes say I love you, but I don't like you very much right now. I'm sure Joran's mom feels the same. She will always love her son, but she can't possibly like the man he has become. JMO

My mom did that too (probably would be called child abuse today). But she did say - if you ever find yourself in jail, you're on your own kiddo. I raised you to know what's right from wrong, and if you screw it up, that's your fault.

That's why I'm so conflicted -- if my son were in jail, I'd rip him a new one, but I don't know if I could just walk away (nah, I probably couldn't). Let's just pray that never happens.

Okay - moving on :)

he he..and what's a high level inmate? Anyway, do you think he's going to get his own cell (solitary confinement) and 3 squares a day without the prison going into an absolute riot. I don't think Joran should get any special treatment either. He's a big boy, and a heck of a lot taller than most, he'll survive....maybe.
