Anyone watching the Natalee story on Investigation Discovery?

Kimmer...I did not even see a drinking glass did you?

Nope sure didn't but I guess that is a good thing, no way he can throw a glass of water against the wall in a fit of rage, I can only imagine how mad he must be now, to have all that pent up rage while he was on the outside I can only imagine how much he will have being caged like the animal he is..

They are putting on a nice "show" for the camera's to show how nice he is being treated so when he is killed it won't look so bad for Peru.

I am not sure. Looks like it might be SOP to broadcast that on national TV since it also showed a short snippet of that Columbian hit man when he was taken to Castro Castro. In the mean time "Wow" , to that video. USA does not have that kind of detail on notorious criminals. Like watching a reality show with even background music. And those buildings in Castro Castro, pure Art Deco style IMO. Just amazing. Peru is using this a little bit as propaganda though IMO and as a message to other "aliens" not to commit murder in Peru. Way to go, Peru.

I had forgotten this. Early on police asked Beth if Natalee had seizures.

I guess what strikes me the most is he's in this place and hasn't even been convicted of the crime yet. Compared with what we're used to seeing here in the US, such as Casey where she gets to order almost anything off the commissary list (when funds are available). I also heard somewhere though that the Dutch Embassy would be sending him money. Is this the $1.50 per day you mention, or in addition to the $1.50? MOO

Why do the Dutch just keep kissing this kids butt. I just do not get it.

  • #166
I thought the $1.50 a day was what the prison spends on each prison to feed them...That is what I thought I heard on the National Geographic program about Peru prisons, I don't think they actually give the prisoners money daily to buy necessities, I think that has to come from someone on the outside.

  • #167
I agree. No different than any other high-profile, highly-targeted prisoner. I don't think it means he will be totally safe, though.

I think he will be safe if somebody coughs up enough bribe/protection money.

\

I misunderstood your question earlier sorry......Because this is one of there citizens and apprently they must think the conditions are to harsh..

  • #169
I do feel sorry for his mom, but something tells me that she too finally feels safe, and I sure hope she is not going to lift a finger to help him.

I've been thinking about that. If he were my son, I'd have a hard time being supportive. I would not be supportive if I knew the truth to be that my child had killed two women - or one woman, for that matter.

I would be the same way. I could not support anyone that had done these things. If he hates women that much can you imagine how he has treated his mother over the years. Would I stop loving him never, but I would tell him he had murdered my heart and I could no longer be around to support him. He is on his own.

LIMA, Peru — Joran van der Sloot told police in Chile that it was an unidentified robber who beat a young woman to death in his hotel room, a killing for which the Dutchman has been charged with murder in Peru.

Peruvian police say Van der Sloot, long suspected in the 2005 disappearance of U.S. teen Natalee Holloway, has confessed to killing 21-year-old business student Stephany Flores on May 30 after they met playing poker.

But according to a Chilean police report obtained by The Associated Press through Peruvian authorities late Saturday, Van der Sloot gave a different account of events while in custody in neighboring Chile, where he was captured after the killing and quickly extradited.

In the version offered to Chilean investigators, Van der Sloot said he and Flores were surprised in the early morning by two robbers in an apparent assault.

He also insinuated that they were Peruvian LE. That surely got him expelled out of Chili pronto. LE does not take kindly to accusing fellow LE in a neighbouring country.

Because he is one of their citizens, he hasn't been convicted yet, etc. I understood the Embassy sends money to all Dutch prisoners, not just for him. MOO

OK, and thanks! So he'll need the Embassy money for toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, etc ~ right?

Another horror story of life in Castro Castro:

http://translate.google.com/transla...0&hl=en&sa=N&rlz=1T4HPIA_enUS310US310&prmd=iv

Note the last sentence of the article:

"The members of organized gangs do not tolerate sexual abuse against children and defenseless women. El hechon es considerado como un acto “cobarde”. The hechon is considered an act "cowardly."

I watched the National Geographic special on Peru prisons -- just horrific. I was most interested in the "outcasts" those who are not allowed in the general population, get little food, have aids, etc. I can imagine Joran will immediately made an outcast - begging for food, and sleeping on the cement.

It was quite a chilling series. You can look it up on You Tube if you want to watch it.

Finally found the link to the $1.50:

""The state provides around $1.50 a day per prisoner, he will need to buy everything from toothpaste from a decent space in which to sleep." Not sure if he is getting the private cell for free....I think they usually have to pay for that.

I know I also read somewhere that the Dutch Embassy would be sending him money, but I can't find the link for that....guess it would be in addition to the $1.50.

That was great to watch. Remember the guy that had his intestines showing when he removed his dressing. Looks like they could care less about anything once they are in there. The outcast were sad looking through the gates for food. I am like you it would not take long for him to become one if they did not kill him first.

LOL lovely isn't it. I guess that is why the sink is so close. No guest soaps, no towels. Just him, a hole and a sink. Poor, poor Joran looks like hell on earth has started for him. The smells alone would do me in.

Not to mention he's been in those same clothes for what... two weeks or so now? They've got to be getting pretty crusty.

I don't get that channel. :(

Come on over. I recorded it. I'm in Panther town too. LOL

It's actually much better than I had thought. Natalee Holloway: Lost in Paradise Maybe it will be on line later.

It's pretty standard in some countries - like Peru, to show it all in the media. It is not happening just because it is Joran. That is just the way it is done in some countries. It is also common for the media to show dead bodies at the scene- whether murdered or from a vehicle accident - in newspapers and on TV.
