I have to say..watching the video of Joran being led to his cell was very disturbing to me as a human being. I TOTALLY feel he should pay for this horrific crime but do not think wishing suffering, threats to his life, and possible torture is a part of a civil punishment. Him stating his head hurts or whatever and that he hasn't eaten in 2 days are basic needs of a human not part of a punishment. I believe if we wish torture and suffering on those that commit crimes we become as sadist as the criminal. He deserves to pay for this crime, no one should suffer like his victims but it is disturbing to me to watch others wish such extreme suffering. If he spends his days in that place, even if he isn't targeted by other prisoners....he will be in hell. I feel sick about the human race at this point. What we do to each other is unremarkable. We should be careful not to think evil...that is what separates us and makes society civil. JMO.

However, there's another part of me -- the part that was on the other side of the equation. When my child was subjected to torture and much worse, and I had to sit through the trial and subsequent lenient sentence handed down by the judge. And, then when the perpetrator appealed the case to the supreme court and had it overturned on a technicality. That all happened in the US. And, I thought there would be justice...

Our family was torn apart. We spent years and years trying to regroup. Years of therapy..on and on...knowing he was released.

That's the part of me that is content to see this person being handed very swift justice and even if he gets out eventually, he will have paid every single day for what he has done to those two girls and their families. Some of who may never recover.

That's the impression I got when I saw the article, that Anita was still in Aruba. It's not Spanish because when I click "translate" it doesn't do a good job at all! I think it's another language that Google doesn't recognize. nline:

If you have a Google toolbar, it will ask if you want the article translated.

I have a button on my google toolbar for translate. In fact google has hundreds of different translaters you can add. Sometimes one makes more sense than another. To add just right click on you tool bar and click on "get more buttons". Then type "translate" in the search for more buttons field, should bring up a list of them to choose from.

Wow it took me all day (off and on) to catch up and that doesn't include reading the links thread.

Early in the thread peeps talked about what Joran said when he arrived in his cell. I think the word 'silo' translates 'cave' in english. They must call the cell a cave.
Remember when we heard dungeon earlier? Maybe it was in the downstairs basement of the building.

Also I always thought 'loco' was the word for crazy in spanish. They may have several ways to express that though.
Loco is the common word for mad and crazy in an insane way iirc.

This might have been already brought up...but....regarding the supposed coffee run. I thought than when a guest left the hotel, you had to leave your key at the front desk. I guess that he could have left and no one was at the front desk. I bring this up, b/c I thought that I saw in the "coffee video" that he had a key in his hand. Which means that he did indeed fake the whole coffee run...so sickening!
