Well Patty. I saw the picture of your son and I can only say 'Yowza!' Good googly-moogly, that is one good-looking man.

I wanna see his picture! I can't find it. Help! TIA!

Talking about how tall Joran is. WTH! My son is 6'5 and 290!!!

OK Patty G, I went back thru the thread to locate this pic and all I can say is......He is very handsome and looks very much like my dear bf. I have an affinity for bald men, LOL!

BAck on topic....

I hope NOBODY pays Sloot for an interview. What an arrogant 🤬🤬🤬! We know he killed Stephany and Natalee too, since beautiful young women don't just go POOF and disappear of the island of Aruba. What a narcissist he is to think that anyone would believe his LIES! .... which has been proven time after time in his interviews.

He is a real piece of work. Unbelievable!

OK guys, I can't help it. I agree Joran is no angel, lies to suit the story, and probably a murderer, but I am having a problem with a few things here. Please tell me I'm not crazy. We see him with the coffee cups, knocking, and later leaving the hotel. He does not seem to have any injuries on his hands or is in any pain. Compare that to the shot of his swollen hand when he is taken to the prison. I have to wonder how voluntary his confession really was. Am I the only one who feels this way?

I noticed the knuckles of his left hand seemed swollen early on before he was turned over to Peruvian LE. Someone enlarged the photo of his hand, but I can't seem to find it now.

I've been following along but not posting. Had to post a thank you to PattyG for everything (but especially posting the photo of her son (sigh)), and to whoever posted the page number. I was having a hard time finding it. He is very handsome.

I agree, it's odd that he doesn't appear to have more injuries to his body other than a swollen knuckle, especially if she fought back. There should be at least some scratches on him somewhere. It's possible he used his feet to kick her and inflict a lot of damage without sustaining much to himself. There's also a possibility that he had some sort of other small weapon in the room that he used on her, took with him in those bags and ditched along the way. That would also explain how trace evidence of blood showed up on his other belongings in the baggage.

All imho.

Grief is an amazing altered state and it affects each of us differently. I can attest to the fact that sometimes a person may appear totally detached very calm because to them it is sooooo surreal. Weeks later when the adrenaline wears off the person may have different responses to same questions. In the case of the Flores family the father has a need to talk about this (again very typical of those of us who have lost someone near and dear). As long a person can talk about their loved one it is a catharsis. Given the huge publicity of this case, I believe Mr. Flores is handling the situation very well (and of course there is so much public support).

Also, IIRC, he started crying during the spanish-language interviews. It maybe that before he appears on US TV, his doctor gives him (the entire family) a strong sedative. This is common in LatAm - I work there - and the sedative - if the person in under severe stress, as opposed to abusing it - just sops up the stress and allows the person to function.

Well that matter still has nothing to do with a grieving family doing all this sensationalist, foreign TV.

But Joran faces life imprisonment for murder in furtherance of a robbery, in Peru. So the extortion thing, in the U.S. may be moot. And I am not even sure if that is valid legally. Of course, then there is the issue of him telling about Natalie who was killed Arruba, and if he cops to that, I think that would bring him to Arruba. US will be at the bottom of the totem pole.

Of course, there could be many dark and deeper reasons for the Flores family to be doing all that TV. At a low level of conspiracy, if he really is powerful and connected, it would give him a clever out. If someone kills Joran for hire, it just couldn't have been Flores because he renounced all vengeance etc. on TV.

I am not saying I believe this is the case. Just a possibility. It's just that in my own country, the last time we had a national politician who wasn't a total fake, and actually cared about all his fellow citizens was on Nov. 22, 1963. If we can't have a single honest national politician (in 47 years), why should Peru be any different?

Maybe -- it could just be that they are in shock - and are being invited to speak about Stephany -- aren't strong enough to say NO. In LatAm, saying No directly, specially to members of Stephany's class is difficult.

Exclusive: Joran van der Sloot's Mom: 'He Is Not a Murderer'

http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/articl...r-sloots-mother-speaks-time/story?id=10935217

In an exclusive email sent to ABC News, Anita van der Sloot wrote:

"I am not giving interviews to any American media station because I don't trust them. Stay safe and pray for Joran. He is not the monster they like the world to see. he is traumatized, depressed an has an addiction. He is not a murderer. It stinks and feels like a big trap set up for him."

The fool probably hit a wall or something since he has been in custody.

I don't know about all of you but last night after seeing Jorans bloody shirt I had to take a breather from NG, JVM and the board. The mom in me hit me as I thought how horribly Stephany's family must be suffering over her loss. To hear about that big cocky oaf who callously murdered her in cold blood, over and over, I knew it was time to tune it all out for a while. Its good to know that I can step away from this board and come back to be updated on all that has happened. I only wish that the news stories would report on Stephanys life and the goodness and happiness she shared with many throughout her young life, instead of focusing on her murderer and his humane treatment he is receiving behind bars as he awaits his fate.
That chilling photo of Joran Van der Sloot that is posted on this board should be replaced with photos celebrating Stephany and her life.
That eerie photo of VDS shows just how evil he is. I can't wait to hear what Anita Van der Sloot his mother has to say about his murdering this innocent young lady. The police have all the proof and cameras everywhere in Peru especially in the hotel hall tell the whole story.

I'm wondering where he got the shirt ~ and new pants also, since his other ones are hanging in the cell. Also the other stuff he had in the cell. Maybe the Dutch Embassy? :waitasec:

It was said that a Dutch clergyman visited yesterday, maybe he brought them?
