JohnL: re had VDS been in fights?

Paraphrasing -
I have not witnessed any, but he was verbally taunted sometimes. Nothing physical.
We hung out in casinos.
My family is not particularly supportive of our friendship, but at the time they didn't know.
We had fun together. He was a loyal friend. He was a caring guy.

John Ludwig also mentions that JVDS has elaborated on some of the story of NH. Spill it dude!

They are both beautiful but I'm not seeing the uncanny resemblance - maybe the eyes - what am I missing? AB is dark haired and JC is fair - no?

Hope peeps don't mind the off topic 'fun talk'.

JC reminds me of Susan Lucci ; also of Giada de Laurentiis who has that cooking show. http://www.giadadelaurentiis.com/
I don't mind the OT talk right now.

Thanks, and she does look like Stephany Flores!~

I'm just not seeing that. I don't think they look alike at all, aside from their dark hair and complexion.

Well I watched the whole video and especially at around 8:00 when the left hand is most visible. I do not see any swelling.

Please check sleuthers.

What is the time difference between the photo with the knuckle apparently swollen, and this Lima in-take photo. Because the swelling will go down over time. We may o m ay not be back to the elbow. But just maybe the swelling was way down a day later, which is very plausible.

I think when Stephany has makeup on there is a resemblance.

The Moment I Fell In Love

I don't quite remember the time
Or how you did your hair
I don't recall what was on my mind
Or who else was there

But I remember how you pulled me close
And how I wanted to pull off all your clothes
Your eyes looking into mine
Stopping the feeling of time

Our noses bumped before our lips touched
I remember never wanting anyone so much
Even though I can't think of the place
I can still picture that special look on your face

Even though you looked confident,
I heard the tremble in your voice
I wanted to be close to you
But you made sure I had a choice

etc., etc

Poem Joran turned in to a class at school, and claimed to have written it for his girlfriend Melody.

There's a photo with the 2 together, JVDS and Melody. Easily Mel could be SF's sister!

Have we seen this?

It also reveals that van der Sloot - after slamming Flores Ramirez in the face with his right elbow, strangling her for a full minute, taking off his shirt and suffocating her with it - drank cups of coffee next to her lifeless body.

Yes it was posted a couple of pages back, it also says she was stabbed. It doesn't hurt to post it again, for the people just signing on. Thanks.

In one document, detectives said Flores Ramirez - who was beaten and stabbed to death

Thanks legalmania! It's really difficult to keep up without a forum. I thought somebody would have posted it but since I just saw it elsewhere I'm wondering why we went through all that conversation about which elbow.

That bothers me. I really want to see this go to trial. I don't want him to be found dead at the hands of some Peruvian crook that wants 50 bucks. At that point in time we have no chance of finding out what happened to Natalee. It's not fair to her family, it's not fair to her and all that have dedicated so much time on this case.
I wonder if we'll ever find out the truth no matter what happens to Joran. :( MOO

Hi Bobarino,

I'm still not caught up on this thread but wanted to comment on this post.

Regarding your statement that a good defense attorney would have a field day with the differences in those photos. It's my understanding that the judicial system in Peru works quite differently than in the US, and on Monday Joran has to present his side of the story to the judge. Thereafter, the judicial process is much different than that which happens in the US and he'll then have to eventually face a 3 judge panel. We are still learning about the differences, but so far, they are remarkable. The judge has a huge role in the trial. Something that is new to many people.

It doesn't sound like the defense attorneys in Peru have a field day in the same way as so many do in the US and get cases tossed (or charges reduced) due to technicalities or some sort of differences in pictures.

Sounds like it's the cold hard facts, and only the facts please, backed up by forensic evidence.

I have a feeling that while many things have been leaked, there is still much more that has not been released of which the judge is probably well aware of but wants to hear Joran's story to note discrepancies.

Thanks TwiceIrish:

I appreciate all that.

One thing though is your "Sounds like it's the cold hard facts, and only the facts please, backed up by forensic evidence." There's been many people convicted by what was procalimed to be "cold, hard facts" and "forensic evidence" that good attorneys later proved were neither cold nor hard, and that forensic evidence was also "wrong" for whatever reason. Many cases come to mind. We are also dealing with human beings, with handling, with many many factors.

I agree on the surface I have said it looks like a slam dunk with only the timeline pertaining to the robbery an issue as to the sentence. But RE attorneys, from what I have read most people there get the Public defender who works for the other side--which doesn't sound fair or correct. But that's their system.

But that one is allowed to bring in your own attorney if you have one. It is interesting though that RE Joran they did not wait for him to have his own attorney, and rushed with him having the state's public defender and his attorney said he would argue about that. (I can't tell if this on-again off-again atty is with him or not now.)

You are certainly right about the police and judge having all kinds of evidence that we do not have. I have even written about matching Stephany's facial wound with the murder instrument be it his elbow, knuckle or whatever. So this should be a simple case.

But in general as above, supposed cold hard facts and forensics that have convicted people have been overturned for various reasons. Too many to cite.

But this one will not likely be one of those.

I believe it was 8 or 9 factors released today (on ROL) that in effect convict Joran, and any one might be sufficient, but 8 or 9. Only issue left will be 35 or life.

Yes but it's also been revealed her neck was broken which requires a twist. This was an absolutly brutal, bloody and prolonged attack.

I hope he makes his peace with his God now because I don't think he will make it through his prison term. There's no guarantee he will ever reveal what happened to Natalee but I hope for everyone elses sake it will be a part of his personal peace making before his prison justice is served.

I think it's just the investigative skills of the sleuthers coming out. We have to weed through all Jorans lies and somewhere in the middle is the truth.

Don't forget it is the Southern hemisphere there, so it is approaching winter now.
