OK, so I just made this google map of some key places in the case so that you all can see more or less where the places are located. Please let me know of other places that you suggest could go in the map.

on other note, I don't know why Stephany would have her Wii in the car. maybe she took it somewhere earlier and forgot it was there?

What I'm not finding is any report (other than on Nancy's show) that Thailand is actually investigating Joran's connection to the disappearance of these girls/young women. :waitasec:

You're not alone...I've been searching and found no other reference to it!

Good ~ I thought I'd missed something! Seriously if the sex trade is so big in Thailand, I'm just not seeing authorities being all that concerned. MOO

This is wonderful! So nice to have a local contact in our midst!!

Would you mind posting this link to the media thread, so we don't lose track of it? Thank you so much!

I'm skeptical. She's still talking about the missing girls from Columbia. I bet she just discovered this tape and is running with it like she often does.

However, I sure hope someone will be looking into it, if they're not already.

I couldn't find one single report on the Thai connection....

Where the heck did NG get this info when she's basically days behind in
all her reports.

Interesting video.....I wished I understood what Joran was telling the guy in the white shirt........
Later at the green topped table Western Union was discussed.....

boy this guy is really smooth....those girls were lucky to escape with their lives and hope IF the authorities are looking into missing girls.....if they are the ones.

Still haven't seen one single report on what NG mentioned.

All of a sudden Thai is looking into missing girls when they never did a darn thing in the past?
I won't believe it until I actually see it in print.

jvds has given interviews to reporters etc. that implicate himself - so i dont see how he is being unfairly portrayed in the press... maybe thats just me - but seriously how is it now the fault of the press that he appears guilty?

the main reasons I can think of are:

when the press describe him as the killer rather than the defendant or suspect or accused.

when the press repeatedly omit the word alleged when discussing the alleged confession released by the Peruvian police, repeatedly calling it "Joran Van der Sloot's confession", using terms like "in his own words" etc. The worst form of this I saw was on the Nancy Grace Show when they would replay over and over for weeks an actor reading their favorite phrases from the "confession", in an accent that sounded like a bad guy in a movie, and did not state or show anywhere on the screen that it was an actor reading the lines and not Joran Van Der Sloot himself! LOL

when the press claim not only that he committed the crime against Stephany but go even a step beyond and continually report that the reason is that he's a Psychopath (has Antisocial Personality), (forgetting the possibility of mental illness such as Schizophrenic episode, Manic episode, etc, or even blackout or delirium due to drugs, etc. By definition, the diagnosis of "Antisocial Personality/Psychopathy" can't be applied unless Schizophrenic episode and Manic episode and various other potential conditions were not present. And "Psychopath" implies a much more conscious act.) If he in fact is the one who killed Stephany.

when the press, rather than trying to get all the evidence and discuss all the evidence from every possible angle, only discuss select items of alleged evidence from a prosecution viewpoint. For example, we don't hear them raising any questions about "do the rest of the hours of videotape confirm that no one else entered the room?", "have independent authorities confirmed this", and many other questions. We don't hear any questions raised about "why did Stephany's father say the first day that fingernail evidence from under Stephany's nails would convict Joran Van Der Sloot, but then later we heard she would have to be exhumed to collect this evidence, then later after JVDS was actually in custody back in Peru we heard that the evidence was now at the lab and they were awaiting results.....) etc. First we heard "wrappers from date rape drugs were found in Stephany's car so JVDS drugged her", but no questions asked about why would the wrappers be in her car, why if he'd drugged her would he be letting her drive, etc. No questions raised about this or even the possibility that he could be the one who had been drugged for example. LOL No questions asked about "are there prints on the wrappers?" and so many other questions. The alleged evidence for the most part has been presented very selectively and only from a prosecution angle.

though JVDS with his weird confessions in the past has also made himself look guilty of various things (could be due to mental illness or drug addiction.)
And the circumstances and alleged evidence that have been released in this case so far do make him look guilty, and maybe he is.

So... all of a sudden they've decided it's important to investigate his activities in Thailand regarding recruiting young girls into the sex trade? WTH? Why wasn't it important 2 years ago when the videos first came out?! He already had a history of women disappearing then. Grrrrr... This makes me so mad that it only becomes important NOW.

I wonder if Paulus is the factor missing now and it's easier or more transparent to investigate? I'd certainly like to know if the business was Joran's or his fathers?

FLNY, I can't really say but one can't play the game without the console. I'm unsure if she carried it to friends homes and played games. I'm also not sure why just a game would be missing unless someone lifted it from an open vehicle.

During one of her father's interviews (the first ones --videos 1 through 9) on media link here on the earlier threads, he said that the WII was part of the extras she wanted for her car. He also said that the serial number of the Wii had been provided to the authorities

Interesting video.....I wished I understood what Joran was telling the guy in the white shirt........
:

all I can tell is at one point the guy in the white shirt is saying "15,000 is nothing to her" and Joran seems to be saying "they all bluff like that at first, that is normal"

and later he seems to be saying, "I had only discussed the concept with them up to this point, but all these details can be discussed further as we go along, the working hours, etc, all that can be worked out, for now we could go ahead and get pictures, phone numbers, also of their friends who might be interested" etc.

I know what you guys mean about how dangerous for these young women, these two small young women going into a hotel room with all those guys. So scary. That was always my thought too when seeing this video. Breaks my heart for people from impoverished countries who in many cases are desperate enough for money that their safety gets put in danger. Foreign visitors also prey on children there too of course, very sad.

Yeah, judging from Joran's one story about selling N to the man from the casino, and this video later, he always appeared to have some kind of fascination with the idea of selling or dealing in girls. At least it looked that way. Although, of course in the Netherlands, at least the last I knew, prostitution was completely legal, and red light type clubs are just a normal part of the culture, and this could simply have been them trying to hire women to dance in their club back in Holland, or to work in Holland, not necessarily anything nefarious. But his story about N was more sinister.

I haven't looked at the case for a while, have there been any photos yet showing the alleged scratches on Joran? In the photos of him getting his physical examination by Peruvian authorities, I couldn't see scratches but the doctor appeared to be holding a ruler up to his shoulder to measure something, so I assumed maybe something was found there. Were there ever any photos showing any mark or bruise of any kind on his temple where he claimed he'd been hit?

Well dang, how old was Joran in that video? 20.. 21.. 22? He sure has a lot of "game" for being so young. I can't imagine myself playing that sort of stuff in my early 20s, or even now!

One thing that puzzles me is how S couldn't have already known who Joran was, she seems to have had plenty of access to internet, she was a gambler too, it just seems surprising she wouldn't have come across his name. Just through normal use of internet, news stories come up, and on TV, how could she not have heard of him or the NH case? Or at least when she met him in the casino (a few days before her death) it seems like she might have checked out his name and known who he was, etc. I mean it seems like she would probably have put the word "casino" into an internet search box at some point since she was quite an avid gambler and seen things come up about the NH case, or just seen random news coverage come up of him at some point.

It looks like Thailand LE did have some interest in JVS after the sting. Hopefully after this aired, and JVS returned to Thailand, he was on his best behavior for fear he was being watched.

It may be because the case of NH was not in the news there, we here in the US don't necessarily know about the happenings in each country of South America. If NH would have been from Peru I bet the whole country would be aware, but she was not.
Google has many languages and they also serve different countries, google.com/Peru would give all kind of information relevant to Peru, Google.cl would do the same for people in Chile. Google.com in Spanish would have things of interest for all Spanish speaking countries, from Spain, to the last country in South America.
Each country would have specific issues of importance and the more general interests for everybody. I am positive there are articles from JVD from the original news and some commentaries later from others, but you would have had to be more specific in your search, at least put NH name or his in the search engine.

To me it doesn't seem so puzzling. She was only 16 when NH disappeared, and no doubt coverage of the incident was sparse in Peru. I don't think most 16 year olds spend much time watching/reading crime news from other countries. Well, I certainly didn't anyway. Unless he told her he was some sort of poker superstar, I can't see her looking him up online either.

Does anyone have handy the link to the video showing SF sitting in the hotel lobby before following JVDS up to his room? I've not seen that. Thanks.

And thanks to all for the welcome!
