As to bribing the judges to acquit JVS. If he had killed an ordinary Peruvian citizen rather than the daughter of Ricardo Flores, this may be a possibility. I can see Tacopina and Bert de Rooij trying to pay off a Judge with the monies collected from interviews/pics/silly diaries, however...one of the Judges is an "anti-corruption" Judge and as you said, Stepheny comes from a family that is highly respected.
Why would those clowns want a murderer running free is beyond my wildest dreams. He disappeared one and brutally murdered another and he has got to pay the price finally. If all else fails, the FBI want his sorry azz for 50 years. The Aruba system has many loopholes for one such as Joran, and Peru doesn't...Joran doesn't have his daddy there with info on others that can help him circumvent the system.

There's probably lots to cover up. When Joran's father worked as a lawyer for the government, he said himself that rather than prosecuting (where one doesn't learn anything) he tries to reach comprimises. IMHO he has seen alot of corruption within the government and may possibly even have used that against people to aid him with Joran's case. IMHO. I think there is fear that Joran will spill too much even if his people now say one can't believe a word of Joran's.
