Thanks, LookingUp! But it was reported on Monday that the Court ordered additional psychological testing: :innocent:

http://translate.googleusercontent....&twu=1&usg=ALkJrhgnN7bQ65Q2qdOFswlhSXCfPaTtng

I believe the link by Suzihawk was referring to that court ordered testing, then following up by saying that the defense team would be performing their own testing as well.....I agree that the text in that link was somewhat misleading.

Could it be that the court ordered testing based on the defense's new request for testing using their own experts? I dunno? :waitasec: Everything about this case is confusing. Again, a new report only brings more questions.

ETA: Here's ROL's report to add to the confusion:

Bullchite politics at work as usual for this person. I can't fathom why, but he always seems to land on his feet.

MOO

Well I think the Defense could be just doing it's job and covering it's bases for mitigating the sentence when joran's found guilty.

This new web report just came out, but, due to the poor Google translation, I'm not really sure what it says!!! :waitasec:

I put it through several other translators....and it turned into even more jibberish. :banghead:

Here's one paragraph that is understandable:

"This appeal will be evaluated by a Chamber of the Superior Court in order to establish the status of Van der Sloot , held at the Miguel Castro Castro prison."

So I think this may be about his lawyer's appeal to the Supreme court for the habeas corpus that was turned down by the regular court....but who know??? :banghead:

Any other ideas would be most welcome!!

FLNY, I have been trying to follow but I do get lost on this thread.

Isn't that the next step in filing the habeas corpus? It was rejected by lower court, now it goes to Peru's Supreme Court.

If rejected there it is then presented to the InterAmerican Council of Human Rights?

They will rule if it goes to the InterAmerican Court of Human rights?

SOP? (Standard Op. Procedures)

Yep...that's my understanding! But I'm still not sure that's what this article is about....just more confusion to add into the mix!! :crosseyed:

Certainly within the realm of possibilities!! Don't know how they'll ever pin anything on him there, though!!

My fear of these probes is that it might interfere with proceedings in Peru?
Of course had the FBI-Aruba arrested JVS before he escaped to
Peru, .... but that is hindsight. I just fear somebody or something will
stop the procedings, in spite of telling myself that probably wont happen ... :waitasec:

Lima (Peru.com) .- The Dutchman Joran van der Sloot is submitted from Tuesday and for two days of psychological testing as part of facing criminal proceedings for the murder of Peruvian student Stephany Flores, his lawyer said.

The team of experts will visit Van der Sloot, 22, in the Miguel Castro Castro prison, where he has been detained since June 11 after admitting to police he killed Flores, 21, in the hotel room who was staying in Lima.

The Peruvian lawyer of Van der Sloot, Maximum Highness said Tuesday that apart from the psychological testing that was performed by order of the judiciary, the defense will also present their own expert reports.

"We have requested that he give us permission to do that. We vamo to present our own psychological and psychiatric reports ... apart from that we will present the clinical history of Joran since childhood," said HRH.

Here we go with the foundation for an insanity plea as suggested by his mother.

I can see Joran trying to foil the testing, just as he tried to foil the poly given him by Jaap back in /09. MOO. It will be interesting to know the results.

Have no fear. Peru LE/Justice are not sitting down to frosted flakes yet. (They are leaving that to Jacobs)

I agree. Thailand is thick with the sex trade and it seems no one can put a dent in it. Didn't Inside Edition do a story a few years ago on it? I know John Mark Carr went there for a sex change?

It's rampant and disgusting:

He actually may be lucky he was caught by fellow Netherlanders and not someone he may have been cutting in on.

Another note: For all of you that followed NH's case, was there a lot of discussion about this "therapy" then?
TIA.

Speaking of Jaap...Has anyone heard, read or know anything more on his case?

Basically that's what it says. He's appealing his detention to a Superior Court, he's trying to get released while the trial is ongoing.

Isnt Amsterdam in the sex trade pipeline? I just assume it was
Holland where JVS developed the contacts to go to Thailand ?

He's a proven flight risk.
