OT: Is anyone else having trouble with the board lately?

Yeah, when I read on my iPad, some threads come out looking stretched and they are hard to read. That might be the iPad, but it's odd because most threads are OK. Also It was running slow over the weekend for me. But I cleaned the cache and removed cookies, which helped a lot. So I sort of assumed my problems were mine. Have things improved for you?

From the beginning, there have been people who are willing to trash Natalee Holloway and her family because that is the only way to deflect peoples' attention from Joran and his actions. Now, however, Stephany's body serves as witness to what he did to her. There's a body, a crime scene, and other evidence that links him to that room, to Stephany, to her death. So these slimes have to rake Natalee's reputation over the coals again, for the same old despicable reason: to deflect attention from Joran and his actions.

The only people who will watch this movie and pay attention to what this movie says are people who have a lot to gain from defending the indefensible.

I wont beat this to death but,,, could it be there is no news because
Pevurivan authorities have clamped down on leaks and news releases?
I'm not saying that is the case but it is to the point I am beginning to
wonder. "No comment" can go a long way. Any evidence that is
happening (which might explain the void) ? Some of you who were so
great in following Peruvian news might have an opinion on this? And
said again - what happened to Selena? I hope she is ok, anyone heard
from her?

Like you, I was also becoming suspicious of the lack of news on JVDS in the Peruvian news. So, I decided to see what was being reported about the other 'celebrity' prisoner....Joran's friend, the assassin, Trujillo Ospina. Other than stories related to JVDS and Ospina's relationship, the last news on Ospina from a major Peruvian news source was in May, when he refused to speak to the judge.

As we've heard, the wheels of justice move VEEERRRYYY slowly in Peru!!! So unless Joran does something particulary newsworthy in Castro Castro, I doubt if there will be any news on his case in the short term.

Just remember....patience is a virtue....LOL!!!

Having said that, I do find it somewhat curious that only two news sources in Peru, both of which appear to be relatively minor, carried the story on Stephany's brother's traffic accident. It makes me wonder if perhaps the Flores family influence prevented it from being carried as a major news story.... I doubt if we'll ever understand all the intricacies of the behind-the-scenes dealings in Peru!!!

This is the thing that has totally amazed and baffled me from the very beginning. The extreme lengths some have gone to in order to defend and protect JVS, his family (and Aruba?). The hatred and smearing of Beth Holloway for simply wanting to find out what happened to her daughter and the need to dirty the victim, herself. I'll never understand it.

And even now, with near irrefutable proof that JVS murdered his second victim, they still hang on to their ill founded beliefs, opinions and outright lies. I can only guess that in order to now accept the truth, they have to admit they have maybe, just maybe, been wrong about JVS all along. Rather than swallow that bitter pill, they dig their heels in even deeper.

It must have been quite a blow when right in the middle of secretly (mm hmm) filming, their protagonist commits his second murder. Whoopsie! I'm also curious how this film will be able to use real names and yet claim it's a fictional work. :waitasec:

Not really...periodically it seems to go incredibly slow on this site when changing pages or knocks me out altogether. :waitasec: Maybe it's just a lot of traffic from some of the other cases.

Yeah, you'd think that the Joran-defenders would re-think things. But even as the people making this film concede that Joran isn't Prince Charming, they continue to trash Natalee. They are going to have more trouble trashing Stephany, because media in Peru won't sign on for the effort. How sad, though, that a young woman is murdered on a post-graduation trip and then her killer and his enablers try to destroy her reputation--like people in a vacation destination can "know" a tourist. One reason we may not be hearing much about Joran is that LE, prosecutors, and both the Ramires-Flores family and the Holloway family don't have to PUSH for justice.

There is an interesting article in today's edition of the Sunday Philadelphia Inquirer. It is an interview with someone who played poker with JVS in Aruba the day Natalee disappeared. He says that JVS was a "punk".

I think because the article is in tomorrow's paper, it is not available to link on the website yet. I will try to post when available. It is on page B2 of the paper version. Title is: Mullica Hill man knew Aruba murder suspect as poker-playing "punk".

Another murderer has been jailed in the 'high security' unit in Castro Castro along with Van der Sloot. Ironically, he is also a foreigner who killed a native Peruvian woman.

Aww... isn't that nice he has a new roomie that he has so much in common with. Both killed in a hotel room and JVS considered stuffing Stephany's body in a suitcase.

How bizzare is that?!?

I wonder if all the talks between the US and Peru regarding Joran helped speed up this guy's extradition. I wonder if he thinks so and holds it against Joran or if they become good buddies.

It might also bring an interesting new dynamic to Joran's "friendship" with Trujillo. For some reason I don't see the three of them getting on well.

Boy, did this Philly guy ever nail him right...'punk' is the perfect word for JVDS!!!

"You could sense he was a coddled punk, and to tell you the truth, the casino coddled him as well. I had played with him for four or five hours the night before, and he was constantly getting away with stuff." :furious: :furious: :furious:

MOO

I haven't been following this thread, but did see this in our paper today. I figured you guys would have already posted. LNL was on it.

Could you imagine this guy's family sitting in the house and a bunch of FBI agents show up?

Man, if only he could have beat this little two bit punk down perhaps things would have been different. I sort of think we have a way of calling creeps out. No matter the situation we will say something. That's the least of it. If not for fear of this guy losing his poker status I am betting he'd have cold cocked the lil 🤬🤬🤬.

I would say "unbelievable" but the media fails to report other issues as well, many that are very serious, of national scope, and important to most citizens. Honestly, I think many of these news outlets couldn't manage unless the internet delivered the news to them on a platter.

And I'll be there with you, to the bitter end--bitter because nothing will bring back Natalee or Stephany.

I'm not an expert, but I believe the "laziness" and "carelessness" we see in all news media is a result of years of downsizing. Since it was decided that all news shows/papers had to profitable, they simply don't have enough staff to do the kind of investigating reporting we used to expect.

Yep, it could get very interesting.

I'm here too til the bitter end.................that is, if I live long enough. I'm elderly & just hope I'm still around when Joran gets justice. What ever happened to swift justice?????????????

Hiya faw.

Personally, I can wait without 'word' from JVS. Nice break from all his media manipulations.
I like that he is in process and believe (with a little hope) that PLE will administer justice, correctly. Just gotta wait it out.

Van der Sloot at risk death penalty

LIMA - Peruvian President Alan Garcia wants to reintroduce the death penalty in crime in an attempt to stifle the country. Should capital punishment be reintroduced, it runs Dutchman Joran van der Sloot (22), who is suspected of murder, the risk to get this punishment.

The Peruvian Miguel Castro Castro prison stay, the Dutch murder suspect Joran van der Sloot (22). Van der Sloot is in custody on suspicion of the murder of 21-year-old Peruvian student Stephany Flores. According to one expert was "not inconceivable that if the president gets his way, the Dutchman is also eligible for capital punishment,"...
