Joran Van Der Sloot Attacks Prison Guard

LIMA, Peru, Oct. 1 (TOTI) --

Joran van der Sloot continues to have issues while incarcerated at Miguel Castro Castro prison in Peru. The latest incident saw van der Sloot go “berserk” and make an escape attempt only days after he was visited in the prison by the mother of Natalee Holloway.

The thought of being poisoned isn't that far-fetched. Joran van der Sloot bragged recently that he had received $50,000 from the Dutch media. He was using that money to bribe guards. He was also using the cash to get gourmet meals that didn't come from the kitchen.

Four days after Beth Twitty visited, a prison guard who refused to take bribes from van der Sloot told the prisoner he would have to eat the same food as the other prisoners.

“All the cockiness has been drained from him now,” said the insider. “Joran now realizes that he can't buy everyone.”

The giant wheel of Karma turns slowly, but it has caught up with Joran. How ironic that a man who took Stephany's life so quickly and with apparently no remorse is so fearful of death, and so fearful of everyone around him?

Oh, Joran, you'd have nothing to fear from Castro Castro prisoners if you hadn't murdered Stephany Flores. What goes around comes around.

I just heard on NG that JVDS will get only 7 years...Wow, will he last that long in general pop?

Good find, NUMS24!! I only hope this is true....it's about time Joran found out what 'real' prison in Peru is all about!!

Supposedly this happened about 2 weeks ago...I wonder what the delay was in this getting out to the public??!!??

MOO
NG stated that this happened after BH confronted JVDS. JVDS stated-"What difference does it make, she's dead! (referring to NH)".

I heard someone mention Jorans plan was to reach the infirmary where he would put on an orderlies uniform and exit the prison. Wrongo Bongo Joran, didn't work.

Yes I heard he was living the life of luxury for someone living at Castro Castro but as someone said, wait until the money runs out. Even with money he's still a wanted man in prison.

I actually consider Joran capable of anything at this point because not only being a psychopath and having a low frustration level (spoiled.) I think he's living under not only fear but the thinking of "I have nothing left to lose" thinking.

Waiting patently for the psychotic break.

Didn't the Dutch reporter (John what's-his-name) flatly deny that anyone was paid for that televison interview? It's not surprising to find he was lying. If these media folks stopped paying big bucks, he wouldn't have the money to pay for bribes.

I've also heard that AVS has set up a donation web site. I'll try to find more info on that.

That's a very good question. I havn't found anything in the media besides what is already posted....besides a few "spoofs".

How do those little guards in Castro Castro handle him? Not good on a one on one. They need the guy who escorted him during his perp walk!!!

This video clip highlights Jean Casarez on NG's show. I tend to believe Jean's reporting...so possibly this reported escape attempt is true.

Jean says that afterwards Joran was placed in solitary confinement for 24 hrs. in a darkened room with no food...seems Castro Castro got the upper hand on this one! Except, ironically, I'm sure JVDS felt more secure there...with no one and no food to poison him!!

The decision on Joran's appeal could take forever!!! :banghead:

"A three judge panel split 2-1 in favor of throwing out the confession but under Peruvian law it takes three judges, so a fourth appeals judge has been reviewing the case for weeks with, thus far, no decision.

And even that decision may not bring any real progress to the case. In the glacial pace of Peruvian justice, if the fourth judge votes against throwing out the confession, a fifth judge will be appointed to produce the third vote necessary to resolve the case."

If they need a 3 vote ruling on either side, why don't they assign 5 judges initially!!!!!! No wonder cases never get to trial for years and years in Peru...:banghead:

This article kind of summarizes all that we've heard to-date re: his 'escape' attempt and $50 grand payment.

"So is it luxury living or a desparate, maybe paranoid, cowering in fear alone in his cell worrying about whether the special meals he's paying for have been tampered with?"

It also confirms that "he has been held in an isolation cell since another mini-scandal involving prison employees taking pictures of him grinning."

I actually tried to call into NG last night but can never get thru. The statement about Joren getting only 7 years isn't true. That was if he made a good faith confession. Now, since he is saying his confession was coerced he loses the benefit of a lower sentence. So he screwed himself by challenging his early confession. Now he can get 30 years. He should have kept his mouth shut because the Peruvian authorities have more than enough evidence to prove 1 st degree murder with or without the confession.

In a manner of speaking that's fine - he's where he belongs and he's
not out on the street. That much is a victory however long it lasts.
Hopfully 35 years will be tacked on at the end ...

Yes...this sort of sums up the confusion for me. We read about how he's living the good life and throwing around his ill gotten gains for catered dining and new duds for him and his pals. How he's so well liked by his peers and prison guards alike, teaching them English and playing poker, etc. Then we read about how he's been in isolation, "nutted up" (according to NG) and paranoid about being poisoned. Which is it? It's hard to know what the truth is - just like it's been right from the beginning. Very frustrating!

I'm beginning to think this prison is a joke. What kind of prison leaves unlocked doors/cells for the prisoners to run through in an escape attempt? What kind of prison allows it's guards to fraternize with the inmates?

There's a clip on youtube from a Dutch show in which they held a little competition to find the best Joran impersonator:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqtKLUY2sjg

In the clip, the contestants are introduced at the 1min mark. The challenge posed was to surreptitiously carry a blonde through the auditorium and into a boat. The winner is shown at the 6:30min mark. As the winner he gets to go to Peru...

seriously?!

I'm appalled.
